We’ve heard the same thing every year forever.

There’s only one best place to be for moto and everyone knows where that is.  There will be new kids coming up in the US as always. We also love having new fast kids from any other country come here to race.

Cooked? Please…

The worlds changing, most USA sport leagues are seeing more international players, it become more evidident in single sports vice team sports. USA still produces top talent, but so do other regions around the globe and now they sre trying to compete agsinst the best and make more money, which makes the USA the place to go. Like everything else, follow the money.

In MLB, tons of high level Japanese players are leaving the Japan league to come play in America because it’s widely recognized as the highest level in the sport. It’s cool because they want to play amongst the best and at the highest level. I would be happy that we don’t have the opposite problem where all our top guys want to leave and go race in other countries. We are lucky.

I wonder if there are threads about “American baseball being cooked” on baseball websites. Are there huge dissertations on why Ohtani is better than Judge? Is the American system failing? Or are baseball fans not that dramatic

That has been discussed for years

The world is much bigger than the United States. It's not surprising that when the most popular avenue of professional racing happens in the United States that you have people from all around the world racing it. I think it's really silly to think or expect that only Americans should be at the top of the totem pole in what is essentially the pinnacle of the sport.

An American just won the 450 MX championship a couple years ago. An American just won the 250 MX championship the past couple of years. Diversity makes the sport great and pitting the best of the best from around the world produces better racers. You can't always expect the local boy to win on what is essentially a global stage.

An American just won the 450sx championship.

Embrace the nostalgia! After 50 years we're back to seeing who's going to be, "First American". 😂

MARTY TRIPES, who started the Trans-AMA series on a factory Yamaha, finished as first American at Saddleback on a C-Z. Plenty of concentration and steady riding enabled the 17-year-old to outlast several Europeans and the rest of the Americans. His style is uncannily conservative; he never appears to be in a hurry.

The C class at Loretta's is completely irrelevant to the pro level of the sport. C class sandbaggers are kids who never had a prayer to begin with and you're never going to stop moto parents from mortgaging their homes to go down that road.

I think Jeremy McGrath would disagree with you on that one.

I remember walking around the Holiday Inn parking lot with Marty Smith at Rio Bravo.  He walked up to Tripes and said, "What happened to your face...catch it in a door?"  They all loved the burn.

1 American in the top 5 of the 450 class…I’m not wrong. American is in a slump on production and it’s because the spirt at the amateur level is a money grab and a race to the bottom.

If you measure state of motocross by last national you must think that Belgium and OZ are on cloud 9. Yeah OZ still have a good youngins racing all over the world.

However i would not say that Belgian motocross is booming. Coenen Twins, Everts and Bervoerts - that's all the youngins that are there but it is still bigger number than regular mx tracks open in whole Belgium... ffs, even Lommel - basicly euro gp guys hub track-  has to fight the ecoterrorists to stay open...

I get it that after the King, Goat, Stew, Villo and the good supporting cast over the years there is hangover. Eli is aging, Zacho long retired, Chase is well Chase and Ando is... coming back as have read here... So you are left with controversial dickhead as a current flag bearer... But fear not, even Herlings was dickhead his age. He just needed to get his head bash in by destiny few times to turn alright. The person of question will sooner or later grow out of his cringy influencer antics and maybe even try to represent you properly on MXoN. US of A has a bit of mx-prodigy vacuum at the moment but it is only temporary. There are bigger things to worry on your side of pond.

American moto is fine. I actually hope the international success leads to more mxgp guys coming over. Majority of top 10 in both classes was still Americans. I agree that nobody currently in 250 class stands out as a sure thing going forward but neither did hunter. Time will tell but as long as the best in the world keep coming here to race instead of the other way around I'll be happy.

Side note, this is also why Deegan's shtick is so stupid even if you only look at it from business standpoint. He has the opportunity to be loved by everyone and be the US golden boy, but instead he chooses to cut his fan base in half with nonsense.

This. Are you listening, Haiden

I’ll say it. America is going to have a tough time producing a guy to sit on top of the world and the blame lies with the Loretta Lynn’s phenomenon and the factory obsession at the amateur level.

Loretta Lynn’s should be the top riders in the country…not the top self appointed A/B/C riders…

There should be no B and C class…

The fix: The top 120 A riders should be brought to the ranch, compete in timed qualifying at the ranch and be split into 3 divisions for the week. This would create an amateur racing movement where riders worked to ascend…instead they navigate the rules to stay down a little longer.

America has every fast guy descending to the C class so they can make it to the ranch, every parent building a pressure cooker every weekend at the track to get noticed in the 9-11 age bracket. The majority aren’t working to move up…truth

It’s insane. I participated in it as a young racer and made sure to keep my kids far away from it.

Until the amateur and local scene embraces a culture that searches for the cream to rise to the top and find ways to make it more affordable…we will never turn out a generational talent…and we will continue to be dominated by super talented phenoms from around the globe. It’s creeping into the pros…look around

boom

if anything, its cooked because loretta's is a really dumb track.

euros are kicking our asses in cycling for a bunch of reasons but terrain and course design is a big part of it. cost and frequency of racing as well.
