At any rate, we finally get to see where Haiden really stacks up. The competition in the 250 class made him appear a lot better than he is. Although, for anyone actually watching the races over the last few years, you could see he wasn't ever on a level even close to the top 450 guys...let alone Jett.

Top 5 for his rookie debut? I don't care what smack he talked, that's a damn nice debut in the 450 class. Give the kid this season to get up to speed and he will be challenging for wins. The kid is fast. With that being said, I didn't like his dad when he was racing, never got into the metal Melisha thing, don't care for the trash talking from Haiden Deegan.
Finally, regardless Haiden Deegan is very talented on a motorcycle and is not afraid to grind. His dad is obviously also a very good business man. All of this is just part of their schtick.

I do expect him to have “respectable” finishes…but he’s not in the battle with Hunter, Jett, and Prado…or Chase if he keeps out of the dirt…imo. I could end up being wrong…but not yet. It’s only one race.

Jett is riding at 70% of his possibilities, he need to re-learn how to place his feet and use his feet because his ankle is very limited in rotation. It even sounded like the limitations from a fused ankle. That is a question @ML512 or @LewisPhillips should ask Jett: Did they fused your ankle or is it the hardware that makes some movements hard...

I personally expected him to eat dirt trying to prove a point, but he rode good, really good. His biggest challenge though even if he gets up to speed will be competing against three absolute holeshot kings. He's most likely going to play catchup every single race vs Hunter, Prado & Jett.
I told my son the same.. that he would be doing everything he could to get up to the top 3 and crash doing it. Instead he played it cool.
justin cooper(wash kinda, cooper started top 5 and finished 3rd), ferrandisx2, sexton x 2, hampshirex2, plessingerx2, craigx2, barciax2, webbx2, malcomx2, .....oo and he didnt start in front of any of those guys...he passed them all. On the metric of 'pumping yourself up as Jett Lawrence's natural rival' and 'best 250 rider of all time' his ride today was not anywhere near that.
Remember, that is the metric he set up for himself.
