I had the JT confetti pants that were made popular by JMB and also had the ALS open face helmet and JT chest protector as a kid racing in the 80 class. I wish JT would get back into Moto...their stuff was awesome.

Jt was great back in the day and it needs to stay an iconic brand. If the brand was back, what would you expect from them? Simple line, simple construction or crazy shit like fox? The vintage stuff don't sell that well nowadays.
TBteam, let us know the story when you have some time....

Weren't JT helmets made by Techno?
No. Danny LaPorte wore a Techno (French) during his WC campaign. John Gregory was smart enough to know that you don't leave your product mfg. to an outsider and used the Techno's cutting edge look to create the ALS series. John's DOT only certification was the beginning of the end to SNELL dominance. There's more to tell but most of the people willing to speak are dead or missing. And so I don't end up on that list, I'll end this for now. (I understand that one can have someone murdered for as little as $150.00 dollars). And that all I have to say. (I've been told that it's $350.00 now). I don't care who might bring back JT (which I doubt), but if it's not run by John and Rita, It's not JT anymore.

I just picked up a '83 vintage NOS vented JT jersey. I was planning on using it for a couple of vintage Nationals next year but I'm not sure if I want to get it dirty. Such a dilemma.

Good score, wish I could find that in a small or medium. Those 09 THOR Core blue and yellow pants would look okay with that since the THOR logo's on those are kinda downsized, if you can't find some matching JT pants.

I think finding the matching JT pants is going to be nearly impossible. I have some Fly support so I got a set of their yellow and blue Kinetic pants to use with the jersey. It's not bad.

My buddy, Jeff Long, is going to custom paint one of my helmets to match. I'm pretty excited about that.

Also got a couple of repro DG jerseys from Austrailia that I think actually may look better with the Fly pants and I don't haveto worry about ruining them as much. The Austrailians are crazy for vintage MX.

Back in '96 JT gave away a Pichon replica Pro Circuit splitfire kx125. I won it. John Gregory and Danny Dobe called me at work to tell me. For about a month Mr. Gregory would call me about once or twice a week to tell me the progress on my bike as Pro circuit was building it. He talked about getting into paintball and how expensive it was getting to sponsor pro riders. He asked me if I wanted the Chrome plastic that PC was running and of course I said yes. He tried to get it for me but Mitch Payton said it didn't last more than one race so I couldn't have it. My bike got here about 2 days before the Dallas supercross so Mr. Gregory asked me to not ride it so it could be presented to me on the track at the sx. I carried it up to Dallas but the promoters wanted $10,000 for that so it didn't happen. I did get all access passes and hung out in the procircuit pits all night. Then Mr. Gregory sent me riding gear, gear bag, chest protector, goggles and cool JT sunglasses which were not part of the bike giveaway. He was really cool and nice and I couldn't believe I was able to talk to him almost daily for a while. That was a really great experience.
That's a really cool story man! I remember when PC was putting that ad in the mags for the contest. You actually won the damn thing.....you lucky S.O.B.!

Also.....i'm on the same boat as every single person in this thread.....the old JT stuff was the friggin' best gear on the planet!

I have 2 JT ALS 2 one of them is new it was custom painted in 1987 but never worn the guy i painted it for got hurt and did not ride that year, the next year he got helmets from a different company, so he gave me the helmet and we put it in a glass case till today when i got it out and put it on ebay. I plan on selling all of the old helmets of to help pay for my daughter with college. All together the collection has grown to over 40 helmets

Guys

I'm coming into this thread late, but I have a couple of questions. I'm doing an in-depth feature story on JT, John and Rita, and the 'new' JT Racing, info about which will surface over the weekend of November 19/20 at the AMA HOF Induction dinner in Vegas. Let's just say it'll be HUGELY interesting for anyone who loved JT stuff back in the day. Ahem.

Anyway, I'm looking for any hi-rez scans of ads, gear, posters, photos, etc. from the '70s and '80s. I have some early stuff, but some of the bits I've seen here look plenty interesting. Obviously, we'll give the sender credit for the images and scans.

I'm also looking for some stories or quotes from you about the company, their impact, their racers, etc. for the piece. Shoot them my way at Mitch@motoretroillustrated.com.

Thanks much,

Mitch

Loved that gear. I also had the bad bones on the top of my ALS-2. I still have the helmet. JT was what all of my friends and i wore back in the 80's. Top of the line back then.

The new JT should sign Pourcel. That would match with JMB and add some mystery to the whole thing. Now would it help sell gear? That's a different subject.

Just for one race in 1997 : Los Angeles Coliseum SX.

But I remember that a Suzuki US rider wore it in the 1998 season. I think it was Lorusso (?).

I still have some JT Gloves, and one of the Rain Suits, plus a lot of JT Stickers and a few JT Honda jerseys.

I had some awesome black and white Honda pants by JT. They would make semi custom stuff for a while.

Best looking gear of all time for sure.To bad they can't bring it back.

They cant make any riding gear worse than whats out there already. But it better be different to the rest of the shit available or their comeback into the market will be a waste of a lot of money.
