Its been a while since weve gotten a new track on the mx circuit. We went to lake elsinore for a couple years and then stopped and glen helen has been lost, but what are some tracks that would be a good candidate for the schedule? WW is a pretty obvious one, but are there any other obvious contenders? What about some lesser known tracks that would be an awesome addition?
I know Id love to see a true beach sand long wavelength type of sand track added to the schedule while keeping southwick. Southwick is its own thing, its a completely unique riding surface not like any other sand track with its super choppy hard base with slippery sand on top so I think adding a deep sand track would add something new to the schedule while not taking away from southwick. Are there any good deep sand tracks in the US that could support a national?

Monster.
I hate to say it, but maybe that would be a good candidate for a mxgp style pop up track? Haul in a ton of sand to a seated arena in the south and you're ticking 2 fan boxes, deep sand track, national in the south, and a promoter wish list box, a national with reliable existing infastructure.
Would we sacrifice natural settings to get a proper sand race? How much would it cost to truck in that much sand?
Swan Cycle Park in Tyler Texas used to come up often.
This would be my first choice from a track standpoint, but they don’t have adequate parking for a national.
The Shop
Free shipping: VITALMX
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
Mad Mike needs to rebuild Steel City and restore it to its former glory.
If not that, seeing Muddy Creek on the circuit would be cool again. GH is another obvious answer here but I doubt that happens any time soon.
Bring back the best track glen helen
That would be a pretty cool idea tbh. I’m not sure what round it was but I remember one of the more epic mxgp races in recent memory was a man made sand track where prado and herlings duked it out on 250’s. The charlotte mxgp was pretty awesome too.
Monster Mt and SWAN are definitely worthy. I get Monster doesn’t have the parking but have always been puzzled by SWAN an no real reason, that I’ve heard, has ever been given. Big rigs in the pecan trees, vendor row/food trucks along the road of the track and spectator parking in the pasture across the street similar to Pro Challenges in the past. Track in 10x better than Pala and would get rough as shit with the big boys hammering it as it already does on Pro Challenges weekend.
Also, Glen Helen!
$$$$$$
Monster Mountain, Gatorback, Swan, Cycle Ranch all would be good additions. Don't see it happening for any of them due to various reasons. The Outdoors is a closed society...
Sandy Oaks MX in Keithsburg, IL is a bottomless sand track Bob Hannah once called the toughest track in mx.
Harder question to answer is what one to get rid of? Everyone seems to want Pala gone but it's always talked about as if there must be a round in southern California because of the industry. Not sure why that doesn't get applied to the southeast though? Hasn't club talked about wanting to host a national?
Make it Gatorback in March right after Daytona SX like it was for 20 years. Fans loved the orphan national. Teams cried, but they cried about the Triple Crown races, too, and Feld didn't care.
Do it, Feld.
Baja acres. But lack parking
It would be nice to see a few new tracks worked into the schedule. Maybe each national gets two years on and one year off to make room for the new tracks. I don't see any of the stakeholders playing ball though.
Good point, gatorback would fit that bill.
Sherman MX in Florida.
Florida-Georgia...
In May.
Pit Row
THE AMA WOULD DO SOMETHING STUPID LIKE SCHEDULE A ROUND THERE IN JULY OR AUGUST AND SOMEONE ELSE WOULD DIE FROM HEAT STROKE
I'd like to see them race at Loretta's every 3 or 5 years either to kick off the Amateur National or to wrap it up.
I wish they'd go back to Muddy Creek, but I guess they deemed the facility wasn't worthy of hosting anymore. I get it, you go back into the hollar a little bit.
Miller Motorsports Park!!
Monster or Barber
Not really sure what would make a great candidate for a national track. Okeechoobee MX had some pretty beefy jumps, Pax Trax would be pretty rad as another sand track.
Honestly just another true sand track would be a great choice
WW sucked when they did it. Just in a boring field with no elevation.
Only good choice in Florida is gatorback! Elevation, tons of parking, close to gainsville etc
When everyone says Florida is too hot, it’s not too hot for most the top pros to train here though….
They’re more concerned with how the paying spectators feel about it than the riders.
Would you like to give up your job and income every 3rd year so someone else can have it?
Barber as they get it built up more and more. The pictures I see that track looks really pretty and professional.
Muddy creek didn’t race well imo.
I get that for sure, no one in Florida liked WW for the national. I went when they had the GP and it sucked, so didn’t bother attending the national. No viewing at the track, they had towers they built then sold the spots as VIP spots
Gatorback though, I would definitely go to watch, as would most moto people in Florida I think.
Billa Dilla in Tx or Underground in TX
Flying Iron Horse.
