2017 was maybe 2-3 ago. Surely not 9,  I mean time flies but not this fast, right? 😭

Ha! That’s the best argument you’ve got? You really think that comparing lap times from different days months or years is a true indicator of anyone’s pace on a certain track on a certain day?…..sorry dude that is a huge reach to use to prove your narrative….Deegan is fast he will easily be top 5 on a 450 this year…we will see soon….do you really think that Barcia is going to be a consistent top 5 guy?

Do I think he has the talent? Absolutely. Do I think he rides just like Barcia did on a 250? Absolutely. Both race behind them when pressured, both over rev the bikes and bulldog them around the track. Will he be better than Barcia? Probably. But let’s not forget Barcia’s results when he rode the 450 at the end of 2011. And his full time debut he went 4th OA mx3 and 3rd OA combined at MXDN in 2012. There are more similarities between Deegan and Justin’s career than Deegan and Jett’s career.

I’m sorry I forgot that Barcia was a 4 time champ when he moved up….

Im the first to admit that Id like to say there is too much hype with Deegs, but I can’t.
He is at that level regardless of bike.
He will land top both motos and possible a second in one moto.

I was there at Millville for 800 debut.
Remind people that he came straight from LL to Millville and raced 450’s. He ran 2nd for a while and then was holding down 5th late in Moto 1 until he ran out of fuel.
Moto 2 was also decent but he either crashed in middle of moto or faded.

I dont recall another rider coming from LL to race 450 in his debut.

The crowd claiming "Deegan is overhyped" thinks its okay that Jett has been shoved down our throats 90% of the last 4 years... Every broadcast when he's present at the event. Last summer watching last lap 2nd moto battles in 250MX and they have to split screen to watch Jett at the HRC tent watching the same broadcast or picking his nose. You guys didn't condemn it then, so you guys have zero room to bitch about this.

Why would it matter if they came straight LL to the 450's like Alessi? You know Deegan has been in the 250 class for years at this point right?

Im a Deegan fan and he should be hyped after the last two years but lets be completely honest here, the start of his 450 career isn't going to go anything like Jett's did. Quite frankly I don't think I see any current 450 rider beating a healthy Jett over the course of a full season. Sexton and Prado (assuming either of them could actually ride to their potential for a full season) are probably the only two currently that would possibly have something for him outdoors.

No Hunter ??? I think he’s going to be up there as well!

Sorry, let me clarify what I was trying to say. Hunter will be in the fight for sure. IMO I just don't think Hunter or Haiden at their best is going to be enough to beat Jett straight up over a full season, whereas as 2022/2024 Sexton showing back up has a shot.

Exactly. Deegs has honed his skills in the 250 class for a few years and was also the strongest of the class the last few years.
Alessi went straight from amateur to 450 and was fast. Really fast.
Deegs will be just fine.

Mentally, look at the mistakes - Jo at SMX & Davies at SLC.  Instead of trying to win he went for the take outs.  Granted SMX was for the championship BUT why be vain enough to not just ‘settle’ for 2nd 🤷‍♂️

Im not a fan of his loud mouth either but I guess that is what makes it interesting. He has his minions who want him to win and then the rest of us who like to see him get beat.
I guess he backs everything up on the track so whatever.
But if he is taking people out deliberately during the motos, I feel he will have a target on him for a ling time.
Race clean, rub when needed but none of that other crap he has pulled.
It will be exciting.

Overhyped by the bedbugs.

Anyone with half a brain can see that he is balls fast!

But this is a different class, he's not going to wipe the floor with the competition like he has been in the 250 class but he's going to be hovering around the podium, he might get a moto win even while Jett is getting back to fitness.

Tomac, Jett, Hunter, J-Coop, Prado, Sexton...... Its a tough time to come into the class.

I really dislike the Deegans, but the numbers don’t lie. In the 250 stats alone he’s in the league of some of the greatest to do it. He might not win from the get go (he might though), but he learns from his mistakes and adapts.

It’s for sure going to be an exciting season and yeah, I hope others win.

It's a very real possibility that he rides MX3 at the MXdN this year.

Whatever...he's not shown up three years in a row...patriot my arse.

I'd say he is fairly rated by most people here but some bed bugs already thinking he's gonna dominate 450s is a little pathetic. He is really really fucking good and specially his mindset and his fitness will carry him to great results over the next years. But he isn't racing Kitchen, Hymas and Anstie anymore. He'll race the arguably best guy we have seen over the last 15-20 years and his brother who all of the sudden turns into the same alien and there is even 2-3 more guys that he has to worry about.

I think if he actually gels with the bike (nobody liked the 450 Yami outdoors the past years but new frame so let's see) and battles for the podium most races and maybe even gets an overall win or two this summer.. that would be absolutely phenomenal. I could see him win overalls at Pala and Washougal and I also think he will have really bad weekends earting dirt while trying to keep up with the Hondas.

So overhyped by some people? Yeah probably. But fairly rated by most people who just wait until they see results. One thing is for sure, we fans are eating good this summer.

I definitely think the whole "Jett vs Deegan" topic is overhyped af and disrespectful to the other riders out there. This will for sure backfire imo.

Once Jett gets up to speed he'll keep winning everything. Haiden is very good but he's not of the same calibre as Jett. Then he still has to worry about Eli, Chase, George, and Hunter...

Did you believe the hype? 20 years ago, Mike Alessi showed up to Spring Creek MX Park for his first ever Pro Motocross with a target on his back. Literally. The team

Have you seen Jett ride? Numerous informed pundets, former champions and riders say Jett is the best they've ever seen. And yet you think Haiden will 'get there?

Wasn't the issue that a win wouldn't be enough for him if Shimoda took second?  He needed Shimoda to finish further back, so a take-out was his best shot.

Though I'm not in favor of the idea that you can intentionally crash another rider without penalty.

As someone that can go back and recall the great rise of the guys in the 90s like RC, Windham, Stewart, then RV and that generation up until our current greats in 2026 I do not think Deegan is necessarily overhyped but I also didn't see RC get anywhere near the hype in his pro debut that Deegan got yet he had one of the most storied careers.

We all knew RC from those old days in the Fox terraforma videos on 80s just ripping it up but somehow when he turned Pro he still had to prove himself before the media started speaking of him as though he was going to be one of the true "Greats".

Deegan on the other hand came in with a lot of mainstream hype from YouTube etc. But is it a bad thing? Who knows, only time will tell.  I was not a fan in the beginning but over time he has backed it up and matured to a point where I believe he is worthy as a great champion.

From a pure perspective on "talent" I honestly didn't see anything special that stood out until now, im not sure what it is but his riding just is "effective"..... Looking back it was guys like Dungey that stood out to me before he started winning, you could just see it was coming. He had something special and it all eventually came together. I also think this is true for Cole Davies, that kid has zero hype, is coming out of New Zealand and is riding with such great technique . His level of maturity to do all of this having the odds stacked against him to me is the kind of story that deserves the hype.

That's enough for now from me.

I haven’t seen a single person (even Deegs) claim he’s going 22-0?

Oh ye of little faith. Us super fans are not ordinary fans and we have no doubts.  I will say what everyone is thinking: Deegan is going to go 22-0.

RC had plenty of hype prior to 97'.  As much as a guy could have with limited tv coverage, and magazines only.

Deegan is the only guy out there doing things no one else is doing. Hitting jumps and lines no one else is willing to do.

Insane scrubs. Insane whips. Insane speed. On levels no one else in his class could even touch.

That’s why he is so “overhyped.” Because, he’s not just winning, he’s doing other things on the bike no one else does.

I think he can win. However, it’s going to be very very hard to beat Jett, Hunter, Prado, Eli.

But I think he “can” do it.

Alessi coming out of amateurs versus a 2x National champ and a 2x 250 Supercross champ, arent really comparable.

The hype is real and it’s gonna be a rough 10 years if you don’t think this kid will be on the box regularly indoors and out. 🤷‍♂️
