...the hardest thing is getting him to want to ride. He just doesn't have the passion, its just all he knows how to do and is getting by on natural talent...

Just an educated guess by an outsider, but, this is exactly what it looks like to me. Can't say that I blame him after the kidney/spleen issue.

At his best I see him being about the speed of AS29, maybe a little faster. With all the comp in the field today a top 5 is a phenomenal ride and a top 10 is satisfactory. While Davi has been inconsistent (per usual) he's not far off from where he should be finishing.

Not to bag on the guy because I like Davi, but I think even before his recent crashes wanting to ride was still the issue.

It was 5 years after Lance lost his ball that he won the Tour de France. Davi hurt himself at the end of last year. Not a good comparison.
It was more like 3 years. But yes, Davi did get horribly banged up, and you can tell just watching him ride that he's likely still hurting.

I don't look at Davi like a waste. People treat him weird. If he finishes 12th he'll be crucified, but if he finished 3rd, he wouldn't get any props either.

Like Hansen has shown, when all the pieces come together, the big talents are hard to stop.

if his back is still an issue, this may explain not being motivated .more so,in the colder months .back may be stiffer and irritated.

It sure would be nice if someone in Davi's camp came here and set the record straight with what's going on with him.

Also, I think someone posted in another thread that Brittney was seen with him at Phoenix and the two looked happy.

I think you guys just need to chill.
Millsaps has had a rough few years and not just on the track, but extremley hard off the track.
We all know what happens to us when we are not at work can effect us at work.
Davi has had one black cloud over his head after another.

I know most are mad or disappointed in hum cause of all his talent and speed that he seems to be failing to use. But dont you think he feels that himself? The dudes in a rut in life that he hasn't been able to pop out of and is at least still trying to push himself and keep going.

I for one wish Davi the best of luck, I hope he sorts his life out and gets back up in the top soon.

true CM he doesn't have the talent of the guys you mentioned, plus TC, CR, nor does any other human on the planet, so what do the others do? Hang it up and we watch 5 dudes race, or do we give respect for the 20 best in the world, because 5 bikes/teams are not enough to represent all the many companies; trucks, gear, shoes etc interested in sponsoring SX riders.

Realistically, only 4 riders are capable of winning 450 SX races right now. I don't beleive 5-20 will ever win an SX in their career, or again, ...Short, Chisholm, Tedesco, Brayton, Regal etc...but we need a full field of riders!

I think Davi is one in a long list of talent that grew up racing since they were 4, had over bearing parents and a lack of a normal childhood which ultimately leads to burnout.

It's kinda sad really, especially if they don't have anything else going on when the parties over.

This is part of the problem, along with the fact that he was beat up before the season even started.

actually it was only 3 years, Lance was diagnosed in 1996 and won his first tour in 1999. He was competitive in 1998 coming fourth in the Vuelta a España.

He is not a top 10 rider anymore. Especially with the list of the top 10 in points - who do you think he would be better than. He will be good to get the JGR bike in the main, but that is about it. Remember he is coming off a really bad crash last year too.

And ?

I have a lot of respect for Lance, and it's amazing that he can come back that soon. With that said, put into the equation that Lance blew up his knee right before he was going to start the Tour De France.

It's not apples and oranges, and professional SX and MX riders are king when it comes to competing with an injury.

Is he just done or what? He can't hardly break in the top ten anymore, it's just sad...
6tH or 7th qualifier, 6 in his heat, gets about 5th out of the gate in main and crash with IT and CR in turn 2, restarts last. I don't think he wants any excuses, just a bad race, good to see that ur concerned though.

Calm down and breathe!!!

His wife was one of the most photographed people week in and week out at the races. I honestly can't say the last time I saw a photo of her. Everyone heard rumors and personally I am glad to hear they are still together.

It took til now for someone to notice he had a better night going until he crashed with Reed? Dude has had his fair share of bad luck. Not saying he hasn't had some less than average rides, but he's put in several good rides in between injuries. I believe he was on the podium a couple times in the nationals before he got hurt again.

This is a horrible thread.

Three races into the sx series and we cant wait to bag on a guy that lost half?!... a kidney last summer in a job related accident. Not only is he trying to come back from a major injury but hes trying to do it on a different bike and team.

Let the guy get his bearings under him. I would imagine it might take a bit of raceing to get comfortable again.

Is he sponsored by an energy drink company? In my opinion, if you aren't sponsored by an energy drink company, you aren't winning.

Maybe he should ride for Big Cock Energy Drink.
