What happened to it? I’m guessing it’s either overpriced high rise apartments or solar panel farms now knowing this state.

You guessed it.

One of my riding spots as a kid is now an overpriced outdoor strip mall and the other one is getting turned into another paved walking rail trail despite there already being one 500 feet away. They also put boulders up to block the sand pit area. This state.

I've watched so many tracks open and close in this area.  Bart had a pretty gnarly track out by Kingman.  Insane jumps...I ain't kidding fellas.

I raced Sprockets a couple of times in 1984, it was southeast of Wichita.  I'm sure if you google it, you would be able find out exactly where it was.  I had heard it closed in the late 80's or early 90's.

A little history on Gene Engberg, the only Kansan listed in the magazine.  He was sentenced to prison in 2017 for sex crimes on a minor, he lived in Salina.

I want to say Sprockets was basically in Rose Hill.

Raced there a bunch of times... but it was a bigger bunch of years ago.

I moved here in 2001.  I want to say I picked up a flyer for that place but it was closed when I drove out there.

Years later Bart and Kenny and a few others tried to open a track in that area.  My son and I went out there one time (I put a rock through a brand new Goodyear on my E350 van).  It shut down a few days later.  Kansas has some shitty zoning laws.

Some conflicting info was found, some saying that there was a “Columbus, Ohio” track and some saying the 1969 Inter-Am event was actually in Larue- near Marion, Ohio, which would make sense because the gentleman I purchased the program from, resides in Marion….Looks like this was the Edison Dye series, with the AMA series commencing in 1970…..

I have no idea how or where I came across this but I live about 16 miles from Marion County International Raceway

The 69 Pepperell (or maybe even earlier?) was on Wild World of Sports - the first time I saw MX.

I love that period of motocross. Late 60s is when the dirt bike thing really started to pick up in America. I'm sure the Edison Dye Inter Am had a lot to do with it. I know in 69 I was riding on the fields with my 50 something Triumph Tiger Cub 200cc. All I wanted to do was race MX and be like them.
