I’m treading very lightly here, I know it’s blasphemy to speak ill of the King.
But it’s crazy to me is the grudge he still holds against Fro to this day.. It’s almost a little immature (please don’t come after me with pitchforks, I love MC)
Now obviously we don’t know the extent of the reasons to their beef, but it appears to be one sided.. Fro appears very open and mature these days, you would have to imagine they are both very different people to the 20 year old versions of themselves, speaking of myself I’m an extremely different person from what I was in my 20’s and you would think there is a level of respect for being rivals
Shit even Reed and Stew patched things up.. RC is friends with Matthes and JT.
Again, there may have been some big lines crossed between the two and it’s not our business, but the hate there is real..
Just makes me more excited to see Moto 90’s when it comes out, would love to know more!
Always thought the same thing. Huge fan back when, but kinda weird to hold grudges that long and in my opinion makes Jeremy look insecure and weak.
Sometimes for unknown reasons humans do not like one another. May be the case here. Can anyone say they like everyone whether offended by them or not? As far as the competitors I think what you see more often is tolerence for professional reasons or general courtesy, not necessarily friendship.
Yeah not saying they need to be best buddies, but MC clearly hates fro and has held a grudge for two decades now.. obviously not enough water under the bridge yet
Big MC fan but I agree here, after 25+ years you would think it would be behind him

Imagine if it was RC instead of MC. Double standard is real
I mean, they made a movie together, maybe a work to drum up interest?
1- It happens sometimes. Look at how Hannah still feel's toward Howerton from way back in 1981 and they didn't really have a beef( just competiters) but Hannah hated being beat by him and still holds a grudge.
2- a woman (pussy) can do that too, sometimes even between two good friends let alone the competition like what happened here.
Where is this coming from? Moto Nineties? I don't doubt that MC doesn't like Fro still, but I also don't doubt that there's been some extra sauce put on it for marketing recently.
Are Hannah and Howerton hanging out these days?
Anyway, the handful of times I've ran into MC he's been awesome. Always takes time to talk shop. I'm sure Fro is the same way.
I will say, talking with Skip Norfolk at his now closed brewery (RIP) takes the cake though. I'd take that again over any conversation with a current or former pro rider.
Meh…I don’t know that the grudge is real. They do have a movie that I believe they collaborated on… “Moto Nineties”…didn’t they?
https://motonineties.com/
Some people can't turn that off, see people like MJ or Lance Armstrong. To be the best, truly the best, you have to be a psycho when the gate drops/the game starts. Some(many) have a hard time turning that off when the game is over
Agreed. And Jeremy is my all-time hero. But when he talks about Fro I do cringe just a little.
I wouldn't say he hates him. If Jeremy actually hated Jeff do you think he would have invited him to his Holeshot Kings event? If I hate someone they are dead to me and I'm not going to openly request their presence. I don't know where you're getting this from but if it has anything to do with the movie...I'm sure it is being overdramatized for the movie.
Matthes was mentioning how either at the screening or in the film itself Jeremy was saying Fro basically never earned a championship because of Jeremy's injury and the Suzuki. It was said in aa way that didn't sound particularly friendly.
I’ve often wondered what stung MC the most;
STL 96
Steel City 96
Losing SX title 97
Blockhead, like someone else asked, where is this coming from?
We've seen them collaborate and be amicable many times over the years.
We've heard in interview after interview of how they hated each other racing but that it's now water under the bridge?
I recently saw this little video where some of it is explained. I too thought that MC should get over it at this point, but it doesn't seem like he is.

100% This! Nothing more.
I can’t get past adults using the words hating and hate to describe people that have never harmed them in any way. Mc may dislike Jeff for winning what he believes was his championship back then but strangers saying they “hate” someone they don’t know seems very weird, but…..Humans
Pit Row
Whenever someone holds a grudge that seems irrational, I always leave room for the possibility that they are being classy and not making public the entire reason for the grudge.
It's a generic term guy....
Semantic bleaching.
Hate may be a strong word, but MC does not care for Fro. He always low key talks down about him. MC is smart and a businessman however. He sees there is a market for this video and collaboration. I had dinner with Fro a while back and he was telling me about developing this project. They had just reached out to MC to get him on board with it. I don't know if it will be detailed in the video, but there was not only bad blood on the track, there was bad blood off the track with some girls.
guy, generically I hate it then…
Ha! He beat him straight up in '96 when it mattered most, and in '97 Fro was the best in the world! Should have won that '98 outdoor title as well.
Always been more of an MC guy, but still liked Fro, his 97 GH shift kit is an all time favorite, the black with camo.
There has been a few interviews over the years where MC made his dislike for Fro apparent.
In the Moto 90’s trailer he said “I don’t have anything nice to say about jeff” and he mentioned leading up to it, he wasn’t gonna talk unless they could be transparent.
I think there was in interview with Jeff where he said he is fine with everything but MC holds the grudge.
Matthes touches on it on the latest pulp show
It's an ego thing. MC just couldn't handle being beat during his prime when he was the king. Fro was the guy who stopped his title streak and that hurts the ego.
Even though they seem cool now, I think it still stings that the goofy guy with an Afro from Missouri beat the generational talent and all American kid. There's been numerous interviews over the years like Gypsy Tales, pay dirt, etc where MC almost despises that Emig beat him when it's brought up.
I'm halfway through MCs book right now and even though it was written a few years ago, Emig is not spoken of fondly
"few years ago" ...
He goes into it in his autobiography “Wide Open.” While I’m sure it tweaked his nose about the missed championships, it was more than that. It even got personal with MC’s dad and Fro, not related to racing.
Of course, that book was from his perspective only.
It’s a nothing burger. You want to talk about genuine hatred? Look at Larocco and Kiedrowski back in the day, Pichon and ________, etc.
I use to work with a guy. Ok guy, good at his job, similar interest and beliefs. Just like you said though. For whatever reason we could not get along. I didn’t like him and he didn’t like me. It just be like that sometimes.
