It’s such a real pleasure to see how much appreciation Roczen’s competitors showed for him as they crossed the finishline. It really seemed like they all recognised the feat that had just happened, with all the hardship, injuries, SX only due to health issues, riding on a privateer team on a 17 year old bike. And reaction from the crowd too of course, everyone seemed to know what they had just witnessed, regardless of who they normally cheer for.
My question is: has there ever been a more popular championship outcome than this? For example; everyone where happy when MC won again in 98, but it was hardly similar to this in terms of hardship and unlikelyness.
I’m so happy this happened. MX can be brutal, and many chances and careers lost over injuries and «what-ifs». This was like taken out of a cheesy 90’s movie, only it actually happened!
It reminded me of when Dale Earnhardt finally won the Daytona 500 and every crew member from every team lined up on pit road to congratulate him.
Storybook shit happened last night. #roczennation
The whole industry was coming to him to congratulate Ken.
A lot of the crowd stayed to watch after the race ended, and were even chanting "Kenny, Kenny..."
I've never seen it like that before, like a movie script??
I’ve been a fan of SX since the beginning. I’ve never been more happy for a champ to be crowned. Amazing story of perseverance!
My career as a fan is fulfilled…his lack of winning a sx title was hanging over our heads. From here on out nothing will ever compare..

The biggest congratulations I can give is going to KROC on this so well deserved championship. I was nervous from gatedrop until the checkers. Granted I yelled and was shocked when Hunter went down, but my nerves for the remaining laps didn't settle until he crossed that finish line.
This guy persevered through injuries that would have sidelined so many from the top of this sport. So happy for Kenny.
Loved when his wife said she loves him for the man he's become from the journey. Very touching
Last year, we get Jmart winning his last race, in his parents back yard, and now Kenny winning a SX title.
Awesome time to be a fan.
Maybe Doug Henry winning the 1998 MX Championship after breaking his back in 1995, and both arms in 1997. There is an endearing picture of Doug walking over to the fence and kneeling down asking a fan to remove his helmet for him (both arms were broken).
When he won the title in `98, it was a pretty big deal.
Sport just didn’t have the same exposure it does now.
I am wondering if we will ever get a proper biopic of one of these achievements.
A couple to choose from at this point.
Congrats Kenny!
It definitely did seem to be popular. My guess is because of his longevity in the sport. He seems to appreciate it more now too, I guess because of his age. And I think that fans recognize that.
He’s lined up beside many of those guys for a long time.
I would love to see a proper full length documentary movie on his career after he retires. I don't think a movie with actors will do it justice.
Who says grown me don’t cry….cause I sure had leaky eyes last night
Kennys win is up there, but its hard to not think of Zach Osbournes 2017 sx win.
Dude, this is so true! Honestly, I don't even know if I have someone to root for personally anymore. It's like the book has closed on that aspect. It'll take another decade of someone having their entire life overturned to even compare it to Kenny's career.
It would have to be like Davies implodes and wins a 450 SX championship 10 YEARS from now. Just crazy to think about.
Shaun Simpson, MXGP journeyman, won his first GP at Lierop in 2013. He was applauded by all the other teams as he took the chequered flag.

Oh, if we're doing individual wins then Mookie's 450 win in Tampa is near the top as well!
Ramsey's win in 2002 was well liked.
Maybe LaRocco's win at Indy? But yeah, that was frigging awesome.
I think my eardrums are forever damaged from the night Dungey beat Villopoto in the Metrodome.
Pit Row
Last night was the coolest SX moment I have Ever seen. I have Never been happiger for someone to win a title. Roczen ist just such a cool and likeable guy and sure a deserving champion.
This ranks as number one for me. Zach’s win was number one until now
If you think about just a single race, Zacho's is still better, but as an overall story, this is now #1. Kenny's story, the smallest team vs the juggernaut of HRC, the 31 point deficit, the single point winner-take-all pressure.

KR94’s Supercross championship is just as bittersweet, maybe even more so, than Doug Henry’s 98 outdoor title. Two extremely badass dudes who never said “I give up”.
Ive been watching SX since 1978. I have never seen a more unified rally for a rider to win a SX title. Every eye was on him, fist pumping, cheering, and the entire stadium didnt empty out as all the fans watched with a huge smile for the interviews and awards. Amazing moment in AMA Supercross history.
Well done Kenny, you sure brought the dirtbike community together with your determination.
What I think was specially cool how even like Honda or KTM teams were down there celebrating with Kenny and they were all smiling. Ian Harrison from footage I've seen literally looked like a KTM rider just won the title haha. That really is just a beatiful story man.
One thing that came to my mind (obviously not on this level, but still..) was AC winning the 250 outdoor title in 2019 after losing the SX title three years in a row with like 3 points and then losing the 2019 SX title at the last round with arguably one of the most heart breaking post race interviews. Also a moment where everyone was just pumped and happy.
Not that this amazing story needed ANOTHER layer of inspirational coolness, but even his mechanic, Billy Hartle adds to the story.
Imagine, you and your wife run a store doing service on any and all powersports in west Texas and sell Beta's. You're in the store Monday through Thursday morning, then around noon you drive several hours to DFW airport to fly out and be Ken's mechanic. The races finish, you frame the bike and go home to turn around and work on old crusty UTV's, street bikes, and everything in between. Roughly 30 weeks out of the year with 0 days off between his personal dealership and race team duties.
But wait, there's more! I saw Billy's championship post on IG and went down the rabbit hole on his profile because I wanted to know where he got his start... Eleven10 freaking mods in 2013 (the yz250f year). I wonder if he ever thought while he was working out of that flat black box van that he'd be the mechanic for a 450 supercross champion.
Congrats to everyone involved.
KR94?
Chad Reed had a long tail to his career and didn't win a supercross title as a privateer. I'm not saying he was more popular than Kenny, but there were a LOT of fans that were happy to see him win events during his "CRTwoTwo" days.

Championship wise? Definitely not. There have been some emotional single wins but never for a championship like this. You'd have to use a different sport to find something that compares IMO
Even the group around his Wife with Jade Dungey and other industry guys, most with interests in his competitors, were clapping and cheering for Ken. Jeez, even his competitors were clapping and cheering for him.
KR94 is Moto - Pure Moto. we have all felt his pain since the 2017 injury, we have all hoped he could make a come back, we have all been in his corner wishing him success. To have this play out at age 32 is so amazing. I bet not many will admit to having tears in their eyes because of how happy they were for Kenny to close the deal and get his AMA 450 SX championship.
Nope. Race wins are exciting, but that excitement fades the following week. We have a whole season to look back on for this championship, and get to be reminded of it all of 2027. I have watched every highlight, every interview, and watched the race 3 more times since Saturday night. I have never been this excited for anyone’s championship , let alone a win.
