They are in some major trouble, Fahie seems completely lost, uncomfortable answering most questions and couldn’t even really confirm if Chase is racing outdoors. Top shelf investigative journalism Lewis, you didn’t give him an inch but politely helped him with the outdoors answer when you could have left it how it was and made him look worse. It’s 1000-1 for Chase to finish his deal at Kawi IMHO

What are you expecting him to say?
I’ll have to give it a listen. In Matthes interview he seemed generally positive-ish but did outright state 4 and 36 will be on the gate at Pala
Some conviction and confidence in their direction would be great I think
I was going to post something here about this! Lewis asked all the right questions and Fahie was audibly struggling to answer. The Mathes interview was just two buddies talking with zero uncomfortable questions. Another example of Lewis asking some great questions we all have!

Dan is not good with media. That interview made him look really bad.
Dan and most of the crew on kawi need to be sent down the road
Dan seems like he knows nothing about the motorcycle also. Unlike Ian who is very knowledgeable, dan seems like he doesn’t know a front wheel from a rear wheel.
I foresee something in Chase” locker……
On a side note, how much money is Kawasaki paying NBC for all of this “inside info”? Truck drivers grocery shopping, mechanics and their choice of stupid footwear, and on and on.
I know they’ve always sponsored “Science of Supercross,” but gosh, they seem to be pushing the marketing hard lately—especially since their top riders aren’t doing great.
Lewis cooked with this interview
On the review pod, Matthes clarified Dan was saying "No, I am not going to answer that" meaning he was not going to justify it with an answer. Chase will be at Pala on the Kawi
That said, Dan needs to not do interviews. That was terrible. We are trying, lots to try still, and doing our work. Terrible.
I made a post in one of the other Kawi threads about an Engineering firm hiring me to fix their models and basically Ignored everything I told them to do.
Listening to Dan’s interview reminded me a lot of that firm. The dude just doesn’t get it. It’s either that or he has someone over his head he has to be a yes man too and he just placates everyone under him. Either way. It’s very obvious the team is a mess.
Which is funny because everyone says he’s very bad at dealing with the media. So what are his strengths?
I dont understand, if chase won on levis practice pc suspension and the next weekend when they took it away he didnt ride good wouldnt you get him his own set from mitch? It seems to me that kawi does not want to win. Just let mitch run the whole operation
That would make too much sense. Chase winning earlier is the biggest WTF of the whole deal. Why is he not just running that setup and make small tweaks for different tracks??
Meanwhile, Romain Febvre and the MXGP Kawasaki Racing team are doing well - not winning, but near the front most every race, and they won the title last season.
Antti Pyrhonen isn't having the kind of issues the US team is having, and the bikes are not totally different...
Anyone remember when Yamaha handed their 450 team to Star to manage and why?
Jus' Sayin...
After listening to Dan, it feels pretty clear where the problem lies. Leadership with the team appears to be the problem IMO
I said it in the other thread, Fahie is in over his head, has been since they hired him. He is completely unqualified for the job.
Pit Row
Dan seems defensive and dismissive. Lars will give similar noncommittal answers when asked difficult questions but doesn’t portray himself as arrogant.
The difference between those interviews were massive. Lewis, keep up the work you're doing.
You could tell when Chase qualified fastest in Q1 he wasn’t happy with the bike. He clearly did not want to be interviewed. Chase has zero conviction in his tone with his “choosing positivity” BS. He’s obviously frustrated and doing everything in his power to avoid the backlash Prado received last year.
All things considered, I’d love to see what would happen if Chase went to Yamaha. They’ve proven they’re capable of tailoring a bike there. KYB suspension was what fixed the KTM for him, he’d be back on it. Engine is great. Sounds like it’s highly unlikely, but it sure would be interesting.
Good interviewing.
I thought Fahie was being honest on his answers. He didn't pretend everything is perfect. You wouldn't expect him to say what the issue(s) is/are, or what they are trying next. Neither did he say negative things about the bike, or any team members, or Sexton.
Clearly Sexton isn't consistently performing to his best...but he has a history of that, not just a Kawi thing.
Fahie doesn’t seem too worried or pressured. I would’ve liked for Lewis to ask him about the bike handling/ balance - if Chase wanted it quicker-steering or more stable, or lower in the rear, etc. He might’ve said he couldn’t comment, but it would’ve been interesting to hear the answer if he expounded.
"We'll keep looking". Buddy the season is over 😂
Doesn't Fahie come from JetSki racing? Lewis did a great job on this interview, asking the questions nobody has asked yet but should have. Thank you Lewis. Kawasaki as a whole is lost, their feeder program is not working, they really have no amateurs up and coming, Mitch's program really has no potential 450 riders coming up, did Mitch hire Nick Romano because Kawasaki foresees losing Chase and pulling one of Mitch's riders for the 450 team this summer?
Road racing is his background.
Adams is going to rescue that team when his wrist heals.
I think Spoonguy is remembering Fischer.
That would Bruce Stjernstrom…He is the architect of this mess…
See post above that is Bruce Stjernstrom
