From the article:

CHESTERFIELD, S.C. (WBTV) - Several dirt bikes were stolen from a motocross facility in Chesterfield County over the weekend.

Four bikes were reportedly stolen from ClubMX off Croft Jones Road early in the morning on Sunday, April 19.

The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office said it was investigating the dirt bike thefts, and that an enclosed trailer was also stolen.

How does that even happen this day an age with Rottweilers, barbed wire fence, video cameras and ar-15s?

The aerial view of ClubMx on Google Maps makes me want to cream my britches. What a dream.

Courts that will punish people defending themselves and property, but not the shitbags committing the crimes themselves.

Activists driving policy that ties LE’s hands under threat of imprisonment and/or financial ruin.

Gutless Chiefs and Sheriffs who will gladly throw their people under the bus to protect their own self-serving interests.

And on, and on…

Nothing short of live fire stops people these days. Gotta know they're there first though. I'm guessing the size of club helped in this case. So much coming and going that pulling out of there with a trailer in plain sight doesn't even get noticed as unusual.

Yep. Tolerating this is a choice. I'm hopeful the pendulum is about to start swinging back the other way but only time will tell.

Literally had some POS walking my fence line along my property last night with a flash light…

As I've said before, cut off their hands with anesthesia and a proper amputation. I'm not a monster. Nothing medieval about it. Real simple to never find yourself in that situation.

If you want me to go there, cut off their junk so they can't reproduce too.

With $99 ring cameras, brake disc locks with loud alarms,  German shepherds this thing is easily preventable.

Your takes are usually pretty bad but what do you suggest? Is it really that hard to empathize with someone having property stolen that was the physical embodiment of a collective effort of time and money?

Sadly it really doesn’t do much. It’ll scare away a rational person that feels they have something to lose, but that’s about it.

At work I have barbed wire on top of a 7’ pointed wrought iron fence, motion lights and alarms, and the company even shells out for a CCTV watch team to look over the place after hours and it still doesn’t keep people from scaling the gates to steal scrap metal… when I leave work everyday everything with wheels goes inside.

I didn't say I didn't empathize with them. I said calling for someone to have their hands cut off for stealing some motocross bikes is extreme, and I would argue a retrogade step. If you'd like to live in a society like that...well, that's up to you.

Crime is is on a all time high and getting worse.

Medieval and draconian punishments are probably the only things that may deter these bastards from doing what they do.

Its really bad in S Africa. They'll break in, kill the men, rape the woman and little girls, then kill them before cleaning the place out.

What's your solution? What punishment do you think recognizes the loss to the victim and is a deterrent to the next person who considers doing the same? Call the social worker?

Wolfman how much stuff have you had stolen before ? Just curious.  I'm self employed and had my work truck and all my tools stolen before, (plus my kids bicycle and skateboard out of the garage).  So I understand where truck is coming from. The bicycle and skateboard ? Yeah ok whatever life goes on. Stealing my way to make a living ? Now we're getting into some serious fuck you...    I don't agree with truck though, mainly because it will render them next to useless and here in good ol' California that means we'll have to pay for the asshole to live. Plus fuck anesthesia that shits expensive.  I'd rather see the pinkys come off with garden shears for their first offense, 2nd round you lose the thumbs. If there's a 3rd time well then fuck it just put a bullet in their head. They're not going to get it and are nothing but a burden on everyone at that point.  So how much stuff have you had stolen ?

Suppose I don’t have a solution. “I don’t have alternative to your solution therefore I must accept your solution” is a terrible argument. That should be obvious.

Recognizing loss to the victim suggests that restitution should be a priority. I’d rather have the value of my stolen property back than than have the theif mutilated. I gain something from restitution but not retribution.

The point of retribution seems to be deterrence. The problem I have with mutilation is its permanence. Property can be replaced so that doesn’t seem proportionate. Flogging seems to be an effective deterrent in Singapore and while it hurts like hell, you recover - and probably don’t want to go through it again. A guy with no hands can’t work and earn a living and I would think that runs against the goal of rehabilitation (for the few cases where it’s possible).

Quite the contrast between how people here react to theft (with a no mercy attitude) vs someone abusing his wife (a lot of “I wish him well”). I think smacking around your wife is at least as bad as theft.   If a guy hits his wife or girlfriend should we cut off his hand too?

Everyone would rather have their property or the value of their property back, the problem is that by the time the lazy ass cops get around to making an arrest,  the thief has already sold your shit for drugs or fucked it up for no reason other than they can.  Good luck getting that restitution.

Honestly, I’m at the point that yes I’d rather live in a society like that then constantly have to padlock, air tag, barb wire, cable lock everything I own because a scumbag can’t get a job, stay off drugs, and make wise decisions like buying their own toys. Decent people have run out of patience and tolerance with this garbage.

Stack them in the same pile as the rapists and pedos. Not in a funded cell next to a wife beater.

There is nothing wrong with living in a society "like that" if you are a law-abiding citizen. You will have nothing to fear if you live and play by the rules.

No need to chop hands off. The best for everyone is to humanly euthanize them. Another one off the street and no burden on the law abiding tax payer.

Honest hard-working families need to be protected from repeat offenders. Currently, we are not protected.
