At least it’s a small fracture. The way he grabbed his leg was sort of alarming. I’m hoping he’ll be back and on point for The Nationals.

Could've been worse. This will heal pretty fast the way it sounds. Last year was Honda's year. Still could be in the 450 class?

But they have hit a bit of bad luck with their riders. Hope Joe is back to form soon, The outdoors are better with him racing

That didn't take long... Chase, take note. it makes your fans content.

Hoping for a speedy recovery with no hiccups. this should be his year outdoors, hate to see him miss it or start behind the 8 ball.

That's what I was thinking who is reading these x-rays?

Or is the equipment just that old?

That's the injury Ryno duct taped into his boot the year he battled Brown for the title.

When they missed tomac's they were reportedly using mini C arm but got an actual xray machine after that. Jo had ankle taped so if I had to guess I'd say they probably didn't xray above the ankle and missed it altogether. Still a little bit of a head scratcher, xray above and below what hurts is pretty standard rule in trauma.

Eli and Chase take note, this is how you let the fans who love to watch you race, know what’s going on

No broken bones are good, but this gives his neck some more time to heal (after seeing that scar I can’t believe he was back racing anyways)..

Eroc Goebors also did this to win his 500 title I believe.

The first slide says fracture, but caption says damage.. So I'd say there is a broken bone, but not badly.. I'd say it's one of them 'green stick fractures' (I've done 2 fibs haha)

He’s saying a broken bone is never good (acknowledging his broken bone) but on the bright side it gives his neck injury even more time to heal.

My kid cracked his ulna playing football, and it got X-rayed about an hour after he hurt it. The Crack didn't show up, so they just splinter it like a sprain.

A few days later he was in pretty bad pain, so I took him back for more x-rays. The Crack showed the 2nd time. Ortho said something about it beginning to "knit" and it's not that uncommon.

I said it in the race thread...  The way he grabbed his calf, looked like a Fib to me.

I hope he's 100% for outdoors.  On a rare occasion, he was pretty much the only one other than the wild Unadilla ride by Hymas that could run with Deegan.

Jo should be the favorite outdoors this year, right?

I fractured both Ulnae at a Ponca qualifier at Wolf Creek back in the day, the ER in Burleson missed both fractures. A few days later our ortho confirmed the fractures and said it wasn't uncommon to miss small fractures taken within hours of the injury. That was 1991 though I'm sure (I hope?) imaging has improved in the last 35 years. I can't believe I just typed that 1991 was 35 years ago, damn.

Yeah, my kid was about 12... 20 years ago.

Damn.

I broke my hand ~ 2yrs ago. Knew I broke it, no doubt in my mind. Go to the ER, they tell me its not broken. I put up a bit of a fuss and asked why my hand is deformed (you could see the bumps from the metacarples that were busted. They brushed it off and told me that nothing shows up on the x ray.

a year later , I hurt my wrist. This one I didn't break it thankfully, but went and got an x ray anyways. Dr. said wrist was fine, but that my hand had a severe break in the last 3 years and was never treated properly. He said it was completely obvious on the x ray and was amazed that they would have missed it. My hand is still deformed from healing that way and I showed him. He just shook his head and said they didn't even need an x ray to diagnose that one.

The Alpinestars medical rig does not have a MRI machine onboard. They use a battery powered x-ray machine called a Smart-C Mini-arm.

Very hard to pickup non-displaced fractures on x-ray. This is what MRIs are for. This is why a lot of scaphoid fractures are missed.

Nonsense. Fractures rarely need MRI to diagnose. Certainly not long bone fractures in athletic young adults with good bone density. And that includes non displaced fractures.

If all the medical rig can diagnose is obvious displaced fractures then they shouldn't even be getting imaging. Going to do more harm than good if you're getting false negatives all the time.

He needs to gain more muscle. It appears every time he falls he breaks a bone or takes a really long time to get to his bike, compared to Deegan.

I remember at Unadilla in 2024 he barely tipped over and cracked his collarbone.

Not to mention the first time someone has broken their bones from a pit board.

2022 - Fractured foot out for 1 rounds of SX (saved by the west coast break)

2023 - Fractured Collarbone out for beginning of East.

2024 - Sprained Ankle not even on a crash at SLC 24.

2025 - First ever rider to fracture 4 fingers from a pit board.

2025 - Fractured vertebrae off a whoops crash.

2026 - Fractured fibula off of what seemed to be a very slight rider collision/fall.

Compared to Deegan who literally flew off his bike both in Hangtown and RedBud 2024 and Las Vegas SMX 2025, and each time because he has so much muscle, he’s able to bounce up like a bouncy ball because of the muscle absorption.
