We are witnessing history in the making with Deegs. This caliber of rider doesn’t  come along too often. To deny this is futile.

I’m a bit of a hater on the whole Deegan experience and would honestly love to see someone take it to him, but anyone who thinks he won’t be an immediate threat to win in the 450 class needs to put the crack pipe down.  Jett or no Jett, Haiden will win SX races next year.  I was there last night and spent a lot of time watching Haiden.  There is nobody in either class that is carrying even close to as much speed through the corners.  Davies was putting time on Haiden through the whoops every lap, but Deegan was so much faster everywhere else that he was still pulling away even after Cole was a whole straightaway behind him.  His fastest times were faster than anyone in the 450 class all night (qualifying, heat, and main).  He looks so strong on the bike that I have no doubt that he’ll be able to carry that speed into the 450s. Truly impressive stuff.

Great observation. However, the only time I got to see Haiden Deegan compared to Cole Davies through the whoops was when Deegan caught Cole and they entered the whoops together, about 3 bike lengths apart. Deegan kept the gap the same all the way through the whoops.

He then, of course , just made quick work of Davies a few seconds later.

Cole is talented and will no doubt be a threat moving forward, but you simply have to respect the fact that Haiden is in a different place physically and mentally.  Staying down this year was the right move to gain that confidence and edge to move up. Outdoors are going to be awesome

Was surprised how quickly Davies fell off. I wonder if he got a memo.

Putting aside whether you're a fan or not - since his career started indoors he's gone from one of the top contenders, to a touch better than everyone, to significantly better than everyone. Dare I say Villopoto or even Stewart-esque better (which is generationally rare...). He looks like he can win from anywhere on the first lap.

It's the corners. He's destroying them, and as a result the people stuck on the track with him.

There would be absolutely no reason for a "memo"

Deegan would have clinched the title with a second place behind Cole Davies. Passing Cole gained him little to nothing towards his West Coast title. In fact, if anything, the team was probably thinking that Deegan should have been content in second, played it safer and backed it down.

I understand that reality is apparently a hard pill for some people to swallow.  I do recommend trying it sometime, though. In the end, it won't be denied.

I’m pretty sure there are win bonuses to think about, not to mention the win itself . Obviously there are no team orders as there shouldn’t be and if there were, Danger probably wouldn’t follow them anyway.😂

No question about it ,Danger Boy  is on another level. Lap times and wins this season don’t lie let alone his entire professional résumé. You should bend the knee and beg forgiveness before Danger Boys throne.😂

Not going to argue that JS7’s domination on a 125 against 250fs put him in the same “generational talent” conversation as Deegan and Jett.  While a great regional SX champion, Fonseca never did much of anything outdoors and therefore wasn’t rounded enough to be in that same conversation.

If you dont think Deegz is on another level to his competition you have blinders on. Oh the West was weak? It is weaker than the East, true. How did that work out in the shootouts? Haiden could put 20sec on that field if he wanted. In a sx race. Do I think Haiden in a sure thing on a 450 in sx? 50/50. Dylan Ferrandis was as good a 250 sx rider as anyone. Hasn't translated to a 450. One thing is for certain, he'll try and outwork his competition to get better

I don’t know that Dylan was winning 6+ mains a year.

However your point stands if you want to talk about Hot Sauce.

We are talking some rare cases though

Despite the fact his character for clicks is the cringiest thing in history, you cannot deny the fact he and his family have worked their ass off to get to the top and he is on another level in the 250 class.

As fans we are the benefactors- 450 outdoors will be awesome!

Dylan won a 450 outdoor title, and the talent and speed were there to do the same in sx on a 450. Injuries and questionable career and team choices hampered his progress.

It's a good thing that racing is what his profession is and that fans like yourself aren't concerned at all with things outside of the heats, mains and motos. Otherwise, that other stuff could actually mean something.

JS7 was the greatest 125 rider ever. Strange though, people forget just how good Mark Barnett was on the 125.

I’d love to see the current 250 pros racing 125s, I think HD would be really good on a small bore.

I can’t wait for Pala this year. Like I said before no one can deny his talent but if he gets his ass handed to him for a few weekends I want to see how he handles it because he is triggered like the people in this post.

I agree. He was absolutely destroying Davies in the corners. Corners are still a weak point for Cole though.

A big plus to Deegan moving to 450s is we get to have some competition in 250s again especially outdoors.

I didn't forget, I just never got to witness it.  I've only been involved in the sport and racing for 35 years now.  The Bomber was a bit before my time, but I love racing on the track at Lincoln Trail named after him.

He has definitely always became triggered by it, but he also has always used that to become better every time. I can’t wait to see it all unfold.

I've never paid attention to any rider off the bike/saturdays so I've maybe missed the antics or what his dad does etc.. Don't care. The only time I didn't care for Deegan was when he was trying to get Jo to crash and he ended up taking out his own collarbone.

But man, this season he came out like a man possessed. Truly top tier riding. East or west competition was a step(s) below him. Can't wait to see him on the 450.

The year Barnett had in 1981 was one for the ages.
125 National champion to back up his 1980 championship.
He prevailed over every top 125 rider in the world  by nearly a full minute at the 125 USGP in Lexington, Ohio.

Finishing the year by becoming 250SX champion having bested the likes of Hannah, Bell, Howerton, Glover, J. Gibson, D. Hanson.
Quite a year.

Also for Barnett, he was on his way to a perfect season until he broke his collar bone and missed the last round in Carlsbad National where i think RJ took his first win.

One of the moto memories that has most deeply become ingrained in my dad's mind is of Barnett destroying everyone at Washougal, lapping into the top 10, and hardly looking like he was tired when he stepped off the bike. Then he handed the bike to the mechanic and let him ride back to the pits while the Bomber walked.

As far as Deegs, I absolutely can't stand the guy but there's no denying what he's done in these two shootouts. I still think riding a 450 is different and I think most of us are forgetting just how good Jett is, but the next few years are looking pretty bright in terms of competition.

Your last point was kind of my thought. Nobody really knows how he'll do on the 450 but if his corner speed carries over to the 450 that alone will make him pretty competitive.
