Wife just brought me home from hospital.  Had to get another meniscus tear fixed, left knee again.  It’s been bothering me for 2-3 years.  I shouldn’t have waited so long.  Pretty sure rear end of my Honda stepped out coming out of a right handler at Ultimate MX in Alvin, Tx.  I dipped a toe, and felt something give.

My previous surgery 4 years back was a double meniscus tear.  I got in a fight with a heavy ass king size memory foam mattress and lost lol.  This time the tear was in a different spot.

Kinda bummed, this time of year is a good time to ride in southeast Texas.  Pretty good weather before it gets hot and humid.   Dr. said I’d be off the track for month or so.  Being older I don’t put in a lot of laps but it’s fun to go to the track see all the guys laugh, cut up and have fun.  I’ll be back at it as soon as I can, meniscus ain’t all that big a deal.  My meniscus is deteriorated cause of my age.  I turned 70 last week.

Only been home from hospital about 30 minutes and already boarded and want to get up and do something, I like to stay busy.  I’ll probably post all kinds of stupid shit!

Anybody else laid up and can’t ride.

I had back surgery years back but nothing like that, hope you get better.  Are you going to be able to ride.  That looks pretty serious.

Being laid up sucks… be patient and when given green lite to start, take rehab seriously….you will be back in no time. I re-injured my bad knee last fall, hardly any meniscus left, repaired ACL hanging by threads, osteoarthritis….thought for sure TKR but surgeon said, Let’s try 4 weeks of rehab…. I was skeptical, before re-injuring it again, I was pretty active and riding a decent amount albeit in pain….low & behold….the knee is tolerable and pretty stable….even played some pickleball last week…..

Doc said it should heal up fine. Everyone says he cut a long cut to put a plate and six screws on L3-5. I had bone spurs pressing on a nerve which caused me to lose strength in my legs especially the left one. Three rounds of PT, losing over 50lbs, and two epidural injections didn't help. I am a little reluctant to talk about motocross with him, but was asking about mountain biking and he said about six months from surgery. I'm thinking if he would ok mountain bikes. dirt bikes would be ok.

I’ve told this before.  The mattress deal was freakin sure enough bad luck.  We have a small second house near lake Sam Rayburn in East Texas.  I was painting a bedroom.  Started taking a king bed a part to move it.  Tripped over an electric blanket, got my foot tangled up and fell.  I knew immediately I’d hurt my knee, tore left side of my meniscus.  So being the cautious human being I am.  I set down, rested, drank a few beers and went back at it.  Went to move that heavy ass king mattress and it folded over on top of me.  Foot went under the bed, fell back between slats on wrought an iron bed that didn’t want to move.  Mattress on top of me right up against the wall.   Tore the right side of my meniscus.  Big and strong as I am liked to never got out from under it, along with the wall didn’t really want to move lol.  Wouldn’t happen again like that in a 100 years.

It was months before I could back going again, riding and doing things after that surgery.

Ruptured triceps tendon in August, fixed in September, re-ruptured in November, re-fixed in December. I haven't been on anything with two wheels since August '25 and won't be until May '26 at the earliest. Miserable injury but hey at least I can still run, yay.

Wife’s niece’s husband tore his meniscus so bad they took a piece of his meniscus and are growing it in a lab to repair next time he does it.  I’d never heard of that before.

I had mine done last fall. A root procedure and some clean up. In a brace for a couple of months, and nothing but PT since. Bored-to-death!...especially the first 6 weeks staying at my mother in laws in the town where I had the surgery. Heading to Croom next week for my first time on the bike since the. Hang in there...you'll get through this!

Don’t dip a toe!

Back in my day we didn’t ride with both feet on the pegs as much as a lot of the guys do now, at least I didn’t.   Soon as I’m up and able.  I think I’ll tell my wife I’ll see ya in a few days.  Throw a bike in the back of the truck, hook up the RV and head to Cycle Ranch and take some lessons.  I’ve got to learn to keep both feet on the pegs more.  Might be fun for me for me and Hank the just a little overweight Moto Wennie dog to get away and ride for a few days.

Yupp. Had a bucket handle tear meniscus repair 4 weeks ago.    Still in the same condition I was before surgery.   My Dr sucks and I'm getting very irritated.

I had no instructions post op.  No one would return my calls.    After 3 weeks, I finally have my post op appointment.   The Dr walks in, takes one look and goes "I know I fixed that thing....  Hrmm,   Let's start you on PT asap.  Check back in 2 weeks."   Not very confidence inspiring....

I started PT yesterday and my therapist has basically disagreed with everything my Dr is saying.   Basically I should have started PT day one, with no weight bearing at all for 6+ weeks. Fucking asshole Dr told me to keep my leg locked in a brace and put weight on it as tolerated.     I was off my crutches in 2 weeks.  Pt says WTF, Start using them again.

I'm lacking flexion.   I'm locked out at about 25* from being able to straighten my knee.   Rom is good at 90*ish.

Dr says 6 weeks I could  ride a bike in 6 weeks, and  3 months totally healed.  Pt says hell nah, absolutely NOT.  MAYBE 75% in 6 months.   Fucking pit bikes man.  God dammit.

Yes, currently recovering from ACL reconstruction. Im 15 weeks post op and i feel pretty darn good. Just started running and thats fun, been crushing PT 2 times a week since the surgery. doc told me that i have like 2 more months to go before i can ride so im pumped about that. I got bored and took the bike up and down the block a couple times and i about cried because it was so nice and i didnt know if i could last another 2 months before i could ride.

Tag along with a couple of your buddies when they go to the track and just hangout if the weather is nice, I did this when I broke my shoulder and watched my wife ride and race and then she did the same for me a couple years back when she did her ACL.

It helped a lot just seeing riding buddies and just being out and about, half the fun of riding is shooting the shit with your buddies and stuff so you can still do a bit of that to get out of the house.

I hate to hear your knee recovery is not going good.  You need to find someone else.  I’m sure there are better in Austin than the guy you are seeing.  I’m lucky, 15 minutes from my house in Webster Texas are some of the best doctors/hospitals in Texas, if not US.

My Knee doctor is really good and not just good sports knee doctor for football, basketball etc.  if you mention knee braces for Motocross he’ll speak up and say CTI makes a good MX brace.

My knee guy has people do this for Meniscus tear post surgery.  Say you have surgery on Tuesday, he I’ll have you lay in bed, knee elevated and iced round the clock till Friday.  Then on Friday get up take bandage off, shower and do 40 leg extensions to fire quad muscle 5 times a day.  Also pull your foot behind towards your butt for 30 seconds trying to touch your heel to your butt several times a day for two weeks.  When you come in for follow up two weeks if you can’t touch butt with your heel he sends you to therapy.  But if you do what he says in most cases you won’t need therapy.  It worked for my first surgery, should work for this one too.

My Dr told my wife I had a very unusual tear.  He said I had a flap on my meniscus that grew back into my knee.  They showed me pics but I was in recovery and didn’t have my glasses.  I know one thing, this time it hurts way worse than the last time.  Last time I walked out of the hospital like I had good sense and was up and around in a dew days.  This time I didn’t think I was going to make it from my wife’s SUV into the house.

Normally don’t like to take pain pills and I’ve been cut on my share, knee, back elbow, wrist etc, but I have this time.  He originally prescribed non opioid Journavx, which block pain signals to the brain in simple terms.  But dang it’s expensive.  My insurance covers it but it’s still 300 bucks for 20-30 pills.  My wife’s  Ducati doctor prescribed Journavx after her surgery a couple weeks back, she was able to use a 30 dollar coupon but I wasn’t eligible.  Wife said the stuff doesn’t work but my doctor says it’s a game changer for pain.  The answer is probably in the middle.

Dang I’m bored already lol!

I'm recovering from hip replacement 15 days ago.  Got the stitches out yesterday.  Going to PT twice a week, should shed the walker in a week or two.  Hopefully back to riding around August.  It's been a rough two years.  First a pacemaker in Jan 24, then TKR in May 24, then torn bicep tendon May 25, then foot fusion August 25, then hip replacement March 26.  None of these surgeries were due to recent crashes.  The knee showed two ACL tears that I didn't get fixed from the 70s, then a meniscus repair in 2012, then the TKR in 24.  The foot was broken in 1984, had surgery twice, then the fusion last year.  I'm only 78, so things are looking up!

Ya got to be tough to get old!  I’m finding that out the hard way lol.  Obvious you’ve been tough for a good while.

So telling  someone like you to hang in there is almost an insult.  You’ve been hanging in there longer than most.  You bout got it whipped.  I bet money you’ll be riding again soon.

I haven’t really rode in almost a year, no injuries thankfully, but I’ve been really trying to lockdown my finances to buy my first house. Been having a shit ton of other stressful things going on, and really craving that first day back out in the woods with my friends.

I was unloading bikes at a hare scramble and tripped in my trailer, after trying the kids loop out I decided I didn't want to go 2 hours plus a lap because my ankle was killing me. My son got to race so I figured it was worth the drive.

not currently but i was there a few years ago with a broken tib/fib.... on a side note the peptides BPC157 and TB500 drastically helped my recovery from hernia surgery.  If you arent feeling that adventurous, try to hit the gym a couple times a week, work out the other leg do upper body.  the repair and growth stimulation you get working out other parts of the body will help heal the surgical part of your body.  movement is medicine.  i hope it goes by quick for you

On the peptides BPC157 which I know little about.  Googled it a time or two.  A while back a vendor set up in Golds gym selling it.  It was the high dollar grade.  My trainer I use every now and then bought some for his shoulder surgery.  I’m clueless on TB500, will google it.  I guess it’s safe you took it and still kicking lol.

I hit the gym couple days back first time since surgery a week and half back.  Did some upper body, leg stretches and leg extensions with no weight doctor has me doing.  I cheated and used a couple of plates to offset the counter weight on the machine.  Knee held up pretty good.  Back to the Dr. next week for 2 week check up.

I wanted to hit the gym today but had to make a trip from the burbs into Houston, Doctor visit for my wife.  Doctor with a Factory Works addition Desmoto.

Houston traffic can be an experience, seldom see a police car on the freeways except during rush hour now days.  We almost got tapped on Houston freeways 4 times at really high speeds.  Two door BMW had to be way over a 100 MPH on 288 North in traffic.  Next time was a the fastest I’d ever seen a Subaru run in my life lol.  Then the big one was changing lanes and a street bike and some kind of Dodge, my guess a Hellcat were racing, I say both to be running 120-130 MPH if not more.  We got lucky on that one.  Those were just the big ones, several more that couldn’t even compare.   I’ve seen some crazy shit in all my years on Houston Freeways but today may be the winner.

Been struggling with plantar fasciitis for about six months and a shoulder issue that I'm getting close to overcoming. Shoulder got tweaked riding in December after an inner ear infection causing a balance issue at trail pace.  I nearly crashed a dozen times on that ride and the "saves" messed up my shoulder. Shoulder is getting better with range of motion exercises and small dumbbell exercises as I can finally do pushups against the stairs. Plantar fasciitis is a lot harder to crack. After upgrading to new expensive shoes (getting rid of garage and yard shoes) and using all the supports/straps, nothing was helping until I noticed that I was better with no shoes on.  I then started using some Vans with no support except their "ankle roll resistance" and I had no problems.  Also found a YouTube channel with a chiropractor who has a simple short term trick that actually works for me. I will attempt to link in below that video.  I watch it on 2X so it's a 3.5 minute video to me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_-7966jgAQ

Regarding BPC-157 and TB-500, they are synergistic peptides but can be taken separately.  I will attempt to link in a YouTube channel from a Doc in Texas who explains what TB-500 does within the body.  I don't care for his style but he does a great job in explaining what happens within your body on a range of topics.

I did that playing basketball and got an avulsion fracture. Tendon running down your leg hooks onto bone in foot and strecthes it too far and breaks off. Mine turned all black and blue.
