What was the grip issue?

"American Honda has recalled approximately 40,700 off-road motorcycles (2023–2024 CRF50F, CRF110F, CRF125F/FCool because the left handle grip can detach from the handlebar, posing crash and injury risks. Affected bikes were sold from Sep 2022 to May 2024. Owners should immediately stop riding and contact a dealer for a free inspection and repair"

I had to look it up as I have a CRF110, but it's a 2025.

I would guarantee that Honda has the fix available, just like they have the fix available for the Grom, getting the federal government to green light the fix has been the delay lately.

Yea there usually is a service bulletin. This was a Stop Sale out of the blue last Saturday

Yea it puts dealers in A bind sadly, no eta on a part to fix it and you can't sell them or you get a absolute paddling. So we get to hold onto fresh bikes until we can fix and sell all of them.

I hope it doesn’t take as long as the Grom stop sale.

I dont even want to think about that right now.

I also hope for dealers' sake that they get the fix out well before the rumored all-new 2027 is unveiled so dealers have time to work through their 2026 inventory.

How do you manage to fuck up something that simple? And let it pass through QC?

Similar but slightly different. The Grom is street legal from the OEM, so the regulatory agency for recalls will be the NHTSA.

Off Road stuff is dealt with by the CPSC.

Both agencies are a nightmare to deal with, but the NHTSA is worse in my experience.

We (dealers) were notified about this recall on Saturday the 7th.

Currently we've been given an estimated parts availability for the end of the month.

The Grom recall is due to having the have the fuel system recertification done. It can take several weeks and if you fail then it can take a few months to get back in line again.

August 2026 is the current date for the Grom recall fix.

The bulletin doesn't help much if the parts needed reads "Repair parts are currently unavailable. Once available, this service bulletin will be revised"

Probably no incoming inspection on those mounts and I think they ship with handlebars off so maybe handlebars don't even get checked at the plant.

I have a ‘25 250 and a ‘26 450 in the garage. Just looked at both and the clamps look fine. No gap around the bar like the pic in this thread shows. Still has a gap at the back on the beveled side with them tight.

Does anyone have an update on this?  I believe there are 2  separate recalls, KU1 and KU2, for handlebar holder problems.  There is a now an updated Honda service bulletin to dealers regarding KU2, but unfortunately my bike is subject to the KU1 recall and I've seen nothing yet on that.  The newest bulletin seems to imply that updated replacement parts are available, but I've not heard anything yet from Honda or my dealer other than there is a problem and the bike should not be ridden.  Obviously a pair of aftermarket holders would fix this, but I don't really feel like having to shell out $$ to repair this obvious manufacturing problem.  But I'd also like to ride my bike again soon.

The only recall im aware of is KU2 which is for the mismachined lower holder.

There is a procedure to measure the gap between the upper and lower clamp at the rear. If it falls outside that range the lower clamp is replaced.

If you shoot me your VIN I can run it and see what Honda is telling us its affected by.

Parts are available but can only be ordered 2 at a time per order.

If the rear gap is smaller than 1mm or larger than 1.99mm the clamp is machined incorrectly.

You are a stand-up guy. I can't believe purchasers of these products aren't receiving info.

Go get a pair of aftermarket clamps.  Honda is in no hurry to fix recalls.  Groms have been on stop sale since last summer.

‘25 250 looks the same.

My '26 250WE has almost zero gap at the back.  Hence the problem.  Long night at the Saki bar for the machining operator the night before I guess.

Yours looks good to go.

I didn't want to wait until Honda had the parts available and bought the Luxon bar clamps. They were more than I wanted to spend but at least I can ride my bike and feel comfortable that I won't have any issues with the bars.
