The hourly forecast is showing light rain... For those that aren't from the area it rarely rains all day in Seattle, more likely than not we will see scattered showers 🤞

It almost seems by design for the Seattle race to be moved earlier in the season to get a crap weather race.  Guaranteed to be cold, and likely to be wet.  I know someone above mentioned it rarely rains all day in Seattle, I spent 50 years there and I can assure that is not true.  It is the place that is famous for getting no more average precipitation than other places in the country, but DOES always have  a steady, miserable, depressing, rain.

With the race being in February now, I think the excuse of not using Safeco field (with a roof) is negated too.  Either way, it makes zero sense to move this race up the schedule, it would have made a lot more sense to move it down the schedule where you aren't going to freeze your berries off, and less chance of a mud circus.

I miss the Kingdome.

Did you miss the part of it getting moved this year because of the world cup round coming. This isn't a permanent thing.

I think its rediculous that we cant use the baseball stadium and the roof if needed...on a side note my girlfriend did yhe research and it surprisingly rains much less in February vs March/April in Seattle...whoda known?

I forgot about that.  I think in my narrow and small mind, they would have moved it closer to the end of the season.  Who knows, maybe as Cook441 noted, there is statistically less rain in Feb, either way, it will be cold and this isn't football.  And I am still bitter about the Kingdome, and not using Safeco 😜

Seattle isn’t enjoyable in early Feb. Google all you want but I would expect being wet and cold.

I had similar thoughts about safeco, but there are reasons we don't use that stadium.

Check out this thread on it:

It had a roof....chairs that are no less comfortable then the current ones...and they played baseball and football in it so there was more square footage to make a track

What more do you need?

Like Lumen is any better. It’s the same crappy stadium minus a roof. T-Mobile/Safeco/etc is a nice stadium-Lumen feels like you went to prison.

At least with the Kingdome we didn’t care what the weather was like.

I know this is relatively no indication for race day but the weather has been surprisingly nice and enjoyable in Seattle lately, hopefully the momentum carries over to Saturday. Let’s go Kitchen

Did I mention the awesome horse trough urinals?

Standing shoulder to shoulder pissing, urine mist going everywhere whilst the line to fit into a spot at the trough was 5 or 6 deep like being at the finest feed lot.

😂 forgot about those

I thought Vital had some wild takes, but over on Reddit in r/Supercross there were people suggesting that the race wasn’t moved earlier because of World Cup but that Feld WANTED a mud race to mix things up. I asked why they covered the tracks protecting them from rain and got no logical response. If they truly wanted a scheduled mud race it would be pretty easy to achieve by just soaking the track with water. People and their conspiracies leave me dumbfounded sometimes.

Ah, good memories 😄  Don't forget the "cold beer here!" guys, and the (RIP) peanut guy!  Back when stadium food didn't require a line of credit.  Actually, even going to a Hawks or Mariners game was actual family fun back then and affordable.

That stuff aside, when we had the dome, we had amateur SX days..  Those were a blast.  I will never forget struggling just to get through the whoops a couple of the years.

I rode Amatuer Night about 1983 (or so) at the Kingdome. It was pouring and we were staged on the north side. No walking the track, no rain protection. We were leaned up against the building dodging the pouring rain. Our class was called, to the starting gate we went. I had never been on the Kingdom floor! Talk about feeling like I was in Rome centuries ago and being thrown to the LIONS!!!  4 laps and it was over.  I did it one more time a few years later and that was enough for me.............

I saw the herd separate themselves once when a man had to hold his young son up high enough to reach the elevated trough. Kid was basically using the back splash to rebound into the trough as the mans stamina began to wane and it went all over the place. The herd gave the father an ovation. 🙃

I heard with the Seahawks Superbowl parade the track build can't start until Wednesday afternoon?  Seems like a quick turnaround.  Would that mean no press day riding on Friday?  We might drive up if the weather holds (not looking terrible as of right now), its weird there is no longer a round in Northern California!
