So I been building a full factory 2002 HRC CR125R similar to Fonseca bike, but with some updated and some more modern works parts you would see today on factory CRF450RW and CRF250RW. Motor is the last factory HRC CR125R engine Honda ever ran. It’s exactly the same as Fonseca’s Honda 125 had. Geico ran these same motors. It has a longer HRC connecting rod and a riser plate under the cylinder. There is an incredible amount of work into the cases and cylinder, lot of epoxy work. Factory Showa forks, front brakes, triple clamps and hubs from 2018-2025 MXGP Honda CRF450RW. Shock is a works Showa from the very last 2005 HRC CR250R like MC had. Suspension is all revalved for the CR125R. Factory Hinson 4 post clutch where standard is 5 post. HRC magnesium primary cover with adjustable spring for power valve . Plus tons of other works parts. Here’s some pictures getting close to finishing it up, got a few times to work on.

Sick man.
Glad to see you back at it with trick Honda bits again!
Epic! Crazy to think Honda had to go through such dramatic modifications when they had the best stock 125 engines for so long with the HPP 125”s….Does this one have the electronic powervalve?
Nice!!
Love the clean design of the CR's 2002 onwards.
No electronic power valve. This motor really rips. James Stewart tested this engine back in 2001, he said in some interview it was faster than the Kawasaki.

Epic work Matt. This thing is incredible!!
Fantastic build!
Very nice project!
Whoa - that cylinder and head is nuts!
Is the shock body cerakoted?
No , factory Kashima
The case intake port, shaped with epoxy, is a clone of the stock YZ125 shape.
Yes they did take allot of things from the YZ125. I know the guy who did the r&d work at Honda really well. But there is also some differences, so it’s not really a clone. It’s kind of a hybrid. That being said, the rod length on a YZ125 at that time was 105mm just like a standard CR125. The rod on this one is 110mm which is like the KTM, so is that a clone too. That a bit how motor development goes , you see things that others are using and see if they help the performance of your engine. I do have a set of 2001 YZ125 stock cases, it’s not exactly the same.
Good eye….
So awesome Matt! Amazing work. Please keep posting updates and more pictures.
What carb are you going to use on the bike? Did they use works carbs on those bikes?
Did you get the parts back? I thought the were stolen a couple of years ago?
Nope wish I did
Pit Row
Going to be running a HRC modified Mikuni on this engine to start. Is has a tear drop bore. 36mm on bottom and 38mm on top so you get the best of each. I might try a factory sandcast KHI 37mm Mikuni with a power jet also
Sweet! What color are the hubs? Did you have those done?
There just Red HRC hubs
😍
How did you score a factory cylinder ? My 04 DBP cr125 can hang with mod 2025,s 125,s. You should race it .
Got a complete factory engine from Geico racing, actually 2.
Which shroud graphics you guys like better?
Or
the one with the black stripes
Yeah the bottom one.
I personally like top one better. Great build, keep up the good work.
I think I like the one with the black Honda wing also
If it was more of a Fonseca rep then I’d say the top ones, but as it has the modern twist i’d go with the bottom. More pics please Matt!
