A 2 year ban is sort of like a normal person getting laid off from his job for 10 years (probably more)  and not being allowed to work.    What a bunch of bozo's the FIM and AMA were back then.

A normal person would be taken to jail for having meds without a prescription.

ehh, even that is 50/50.    Some states it can be a misdemeanor.   I know a pharmacist that got caught stealing a few pills a day for over a year for her own personal use.   The pharmacy that caught her on camera was going to press charges, but with the help of a lawyer, got it backed down to paying back what she owed in losses (over $10,000) and the loss of her pharmacy license.   No jail time, but i think she did get some probation.   When it was all said and done, she ended up as a technical rep for a big pharma company making more money than she ever did.

It's 2026. We have our elite racers competing into their 30's, not retiring at 26-27 on top of the sport for fear of testing  "dirty" back then.

What is your actual point to the thread? TUEs, abuse of, or lack thereof? Are you insinuating that prescribed stimulants are abused, therefore pushing rider longevity in the sport?

Guy with ADHD here, diagnosed multiple times, on the highest prescribed legal dose possible 3x of ritalin a day. Id love to not needs meds and mental therapy to have a normal functioning brain, thank you.

Its a super power when you can get that hyper focus on racing and riding. Usually it likes to lock that focus on how your pinky on your right hand is being poked by your glove the ENTIRE time, or your balls are hot.

Meth - but without the methyl group that makes it meth. You'll never be a good drug dealer or manufacturer. I hope you know that.

They’re not competing into their 30s now because lack of fear of testing “dirty”. This current crop of top riders are the wave of the post-RC era where fitness and wellness takes a forefront to their training regiment for their entire careers. These guys are still in top shape into their 30s, just look at Eli. No different than Tom Brady competing until he was 45, these guys are taking body science to a new level now.

Back in the day dudes were mostly running on talent, their off-track time was way less intense and many just partied in their free time. So when they hit their mid-late 20s they physically couldn’t keep up with the young guys anymore. It had nothing to do with avoiding “testing dirty”.

How many guys have TUE for synthroid? Thyroid issues are virtually nonexistent in young healthy males but lot of riders seem to think theirs is a problem....... I wonder how many of them even realize they're being put on PED? The way they openly talk about it, I bet not many.

When you look at the education levels of most of the moto community combined with their mistrust of science (when it suits them) you can see why people like Aldon Baker are able to flourish...and why people like David Pingree have the gall to pontificate on medical science...

Who cares?  No, they are not going to publish a list of medications a rider is taking.

Yes, not to mention that what legally prescribed drugs riders are taking is entirely their own business...

Thank you. Someone has a grasp on reality. Whether it's T 3 or T 4, does that make it a ped because you can maintain your body weight 30lbs less than without it? Imagine taking 30 lbs off thier bikes. I started this thread to see how many people actually have an idea what goes on.

No. Methamphetamine and Amphetamine are not the same. It's literally in the name.

It's like asking who's on juice at golds gym in Venice California... Probably 50%. Keep in mind having a tue makes it legal. I find it interesting that most people will think our guys are doping for a 20 min race that takes 100% focus ( especially the last half)  and not taking something for focus that's legal with the right paperwork. And FYI, The nasal spray everyone thinks is smelling salts on the line isn't smelling salts. Smelling salts are in and out in minutes.

I'm so out on conspiracies.

I would assume its a HIPA violation to release someone medical info , no ?

According to the Astars crew, it's against HIPAA to discuss response times for downed riders on the track.

You realize Ping has 6 months of fire-based paramedic medical training right? It makes medics just educated enough to start to understand disease processes but not enough to be smart about it. 😁

All the love intended to my fellow fire medics

James Stewart and his 16 month suspension would argue that.

As someone who has used Adderall recreationally before... It is more likely to make you worse at riding than better if you don't actually need it. It is an amphetamine, not a magic brain pill.

EDIT: for the downvoters who disagree, please detail your experiences ripping some Adderall before a moto and how it made you a better rider.

It would absolutely help a lot of riders. Theres a reason Stewart was on it. It makes you sharper and more precise. I’ve rode on it (vivance) and definitely helped. If I take some and play darts, pool, corn hole, anything like that, I’m instantly better.

Not saying riders should take it, buts for most it’s an advantage 100%

I would never let my kid be prescribed or take it, but I guarantee a lot of the kids my kid races on 85’s are addy’d up on the line just to get an edge.
