Has anyone bought a Ducati?

Anyone jumped in and bought one? How is it in the real world as far as performance? Are wear parts available?

I’m due for a new ride and on the fence about which direction to go.

Was going to get a Ducati Desmo 450, but then I heard Kawi was coming out with a new 2 stroke and Triumph is making a 350.

Im probably a guy who should want one. 57 years old. Some disposable income. I own 6 motorcycles including an 18 year old ducati multistrada.  But I have zero interest in buying a ducati mx bike. Partly cause I don't trust new models but even if it was proven im just not interested. I should add that my multi is a fantastic motorcycle and would buy another ducati road bike if I needed one. In a heartbeat.

I have a 93 monster 900 tucked away in a shed for when Im older and hopefully have more time so the ducatis hold an interest for me. It’s only a consideration as it’s pretty much the same price as a 26’ yz450f here in Aus and the other brands seem around $13.5k to $14k for runout models so it’s not a huge stretch to just try out the Duc but it has surprised me there has been nothing mentioned about them from guys here. The triumph is also interesting but I have no interest in dealing with transmission issues.

I have an ‘09 1100S. Great bike. Plus you rarely see first gen Multis on the road.

Ducati has spent millions on MX and not even sold one bike to anyone on Vital.  Really smart business men over there

i've seen one in the wild.  it will be interesting to see if triumph or Ducati can gain any market share  I have serious doubts they'll be in moto in 10 years.

I,m Very much looking forward to beating this bike.  I,m sure there will be 1 at Red Bud vet race . I can’t wait . I,m trying to hire a publicist to really pump it up.  Ducati faces another demoralizing defeat by the DBP. Lol

Let's at least give it a few months before we call it a success or failure

Design alienated most potential buyers. Air-cooled, sub-100 HP, and zero rider aids didn’t help, either. She’s all-analog in a digital world.

I figured we’d see a few hands raise up that bought a new 450 D.  I’ve yet to see one at the track but I go during the week most of the time.  With exception to MX2.0.

I bet a few hands pop up.

I head the homologation numbers with the AMA dropped significantly. If not officially for sure in practice.

Considering the Desmo 450. But will wait to see if there are any bugs in first year. (I’d be sick if I bought one and it had issues like the Triumph). However I’m so deep into KTMs. Bikes, spares, parts, etc. It would be a big switch for me.

If you know the right people to pay the AMA doesnt enforce the rules..There are so many examples of this.  they actually said that theyre not goin to implement their new sound restriction because, in their own words "there would be no point since some of the manufacturers cannot meet the db"  One thing I find very interesting is how the AMA is made up of ex-employees from all the big companies.

Keep in mind Ducati is a boutique brand: they sold 50K bikes worlwide last year, 7k in the US, their second largest market after Italy.

Their best seller is the Multistrada line with 14k units sold.

They only sell dirt bikes at a limited number of their dealerships, probably under 100 sales points in the US.

They've imported 400 units of the factory edition in the US, that gives an idea about the kind of sales they expect.

And then of course it's only been racing in the US for a month and it's been available for just a handful of months whereas at the track when you see a lot of Yamahas, some of them are '26, others are '25, '24... there are 450s, 250s...

Bottom line Ducati will not flood the market but I would still expect them to sell more than Triumph, the exposure they get with Ferrandis will only help.
