The KX 85 looks far from all new. Same engine. Is this really getting anyone off the Austrian 85s?

Where would the fun be in that?😆
Hopefully I can post this snippet from Weege's last show where he drops a vague hint about the new 2 stroke.
Click on the text below for Youtube short.
FROM WEEGE'S SHOW
That's several changes and only went up $50, still $2,000 less than a KTM.
That's a good snippet. I believe it was back in November when Stu Baylor went to Japan to ride a preproduction version.
Someone on here had reported that they asked Stu about it and he said it was a lot of motor and needed to be tamed down a bit for the average rider (or something like that).
It's happening guys, it's just on the slow boat 😆
weege dropping hints last night! haha
Such as?
He just shouted "Let the good times roll! RRRRingdingdingdingdingding!" for like 10 minutes straight.
It was odd
He said Stu tested the bike in Japan and we’ll hear more soon.
A few posts above yours.
I'm excited to read how it handles with the more rigid aluminum frame. Hope they don't change too much of the engine's porting/timing so the harder hitting power curve can be easily recovered with a pipe for those who want it
So many unknowns at this point, but it's all very exciting isn't it? A more modern frame should be of great benefit.
Praying this doesn't turn out to be a lunch bag letdown 😆
I don't think changing the expansion chambers on these fuel injected two strokes really has a drastic positive change on performance. We saw a bit of this with the TBI KTMs they pretty much made the stock pipe almost as efficient as possible.
You have much more effective and tunable ways to change the engine character now with the fuel injection and electronic power valve adjustments.
I had a '96 KX 250 engine (with 295cc big bore upgrade) in an '07 KXF aluminum frame a number of years ago. Very effective for fast off-road riding and felt great on tighter trails at a former A level riding pace. Please keep in mind, though, I am tall and 230 pounds so any stiffness was not noticeable to me. I regret selling that bike as that motor was fantastic and the whole bike worked well for me except the MX gearing was not the best for offroading in the Colorado mountains. Too bad I later found out that the 1991 KDX 250 wide ratio transmission would have worked in that motor.
Pit Row
I’ve not been this excited to see whats coming in a long time, I just sold my 300sx and picked up a 450, but if the initial reports are decent I’ll be all over it. After over a dozen KTM two strokes, I'm super curious to try an aluminum frame 2t with KYB.. Assuming that’s what they have for us…
Basically described a YZ 250
I’ll take a carb 250sx over a yz250 all day.
As @Andy7 points out - isn't that just a YZ250X?
I imagine the magic button would also have to play a factor for someone coming off a larger-bore austrian 2T.
Here you go.

Is a KXF 450 just a CRF 450? Aluminum frames and Showa.
A TM would fit the bill, too, but neither that or this customized build are exactly mass market affordable bikes.
If it's the same generic criteria you had with the 2T aka "4 stroke with aluminum frame with Showa", yeah in a different color.
How much is the KX300?
The inference, since you missed it, is that it will likely be nothing like the YZ, as the KXF is nothing like the CRF.
I'm gonna guess they'll come in pricewise right around their current KX250 in terms of their lineup fit.
My next completely butt-pulled guess is that it doesn't fit the conversation we are having anyways, showing up with the same exact Showa components that come on their current KX and KX-X models.
