Thinking back to a 1981 RM125 I had as a kiddo.. that thing would rev for miles and had a narrow and potent powerband. That engine had a 54x54 configuration.

6/4/2026 12:56pm One of the issues the 2T's are going to have regardless of how much power they make (and being undersquare only exacerbates the issue) is useable RPM. For equivalent HP, 2T has 3-4k less RPM which means it's generally going to produce more torque but useable RPM is a huge benefit to a 4T...you can get higher RPM out of...

6/4/2026 11:20am Gotta be careful with the torque / low end grunt thing....what a lot of guys think is low end torque is really just engine inertia. Look at a XR400, impossible to stall and sets the gold standard for low rpm, it's very undersquare relative to all it's peers....it has a HUGE flywheel, lots of reciprocating mass but has less torque...

6/2/2026 8:33am Wow - I was a bit too much of a devil's advocate I suppose, I am shocked SHOCKED there were zero spy photo's of this thing, hard to believe. But here we are and I am very very impressed. If I would of known they were coming out with a MX bike I'd say 0.01% chance they'd make an 'enduro'...

6/2/2026 7:03am Well I am pleasantly surprised - but the "X" version, outside of a headlight, is mechanically every bit the enduro bike a KTM is....it has a wide ratio 6 spd tranny with low 1st gear.

5/28/2026 11:30am I think for most guys a proper "enduro" 4T is easier to ride in the woods than the majority of 2T's. Of course "ride in the woods" has different meanings. Most 4T's get a bad rap in the woods because guys equate a 4T with a MX bike, there are lots of true enduro 4T's that lug, don't flame out...

5/28/2026 8:06am I'm still pessimistic - but even if that were all true, doesn't mean that something hasn't changed in the development cycle that changed the business plan. Obviously none of those dudes know if something has changed and if they did, they wouldn't be allowed to tell the media it's not a viable bike anymore.

5/28/2026 8:03am No - but they also didn't throw a teaser out that far in advance, they have been communicative and had 'spy' photos well in advance of it's commercial release, you know, like a normal manuf.

I grew up a Kawi fan/rider. But, why would they release this news of a 2 stroke so prematurely? Back when this news was released, Ducati and Triumph were not even considering designing a mx bike.
