Actually looked very good in first half of A2. Had he worked up past Tomac/Ando/Hunter when he was close he may have made a run at Sexton.
And Sexton made a lot of ground tonite. Webb’s nearly a race back but it’s early.
How was the 3 holding him up?
Never seen him as dejected as he was in that interview with Will.
A lot of riders in MXGP didn’t like racing against Prado either.
Kind of funny though because Webb also has a reputation of some shenanigans right off the gate.

He knows the hill to climb this year is steep and treacherous. He finally had the speed at A2, but I think it will be less often than in the past. The other 3 top contenders will show that speed almost every week.
I can’t seem to see what Prado did to Webb off the start. Can someone fill me in?
Wasn't an issue for Prado in 2024 when he was way faster than everyone else and just blew by people.
But those years before.. He definitely was known and got called out a lot for crossing riders lines, brake checking and cross jumping. He is one (if not the best starter) in this era and has an incredible ability to dictate the pace out front.. But once he's stuck in traffic.. He's known for getting frustrated that's for sure.
And right on Webb aswell. Some starts in 2021 with Kenny come to my mind for example where he cut him off, he definitely also knows how to play that game. 😂
Webb shouldn’t be so down on himself. With Jett gone, there is so much parity that big point swings will be common. (Hunter, Roczen, Sexton, Tomac, and even Anderson and Prado have shown podium speed)
Realistically Webb is only 11 down on Chase. Think it’s safe to say Tomac will have some off days given the age (as we saw in 2024 and 2025).
All Webb needs is a few wins once we head east and he’ll be back in this come round 11-12.
He looked fast today and we all know Chase struggles in the ruts or at the very least crashes a lot when the track breaks down.
Hunter cut over on Prado on the start which probably pushed Prado into him a little bit.
Your logic doesn’t hold up. Webb can still have more off nights later in the season. The riders haven’t been “assigned” four or five bad races before the season starts that they’re allowed to use, and it’s not like Webb has already “spent” two of them.
Yeah if it was only half a race he would’ve done good 😂
No good being fast for half a race
Not a Webb fan, but season doesn’t start until Daytona. He has always been an East Coast guy.
Maybe the heat of the moment statement last night but I didn’t care for how he said that might be it for his championship hopes. That’s very unlike him. He was pissed but dude we’re three rounds in, in a sport where it’s almost a certainty that the guys ahead of you will have bad nights or be on the ground. Like Rambo said, “nothing is over!”
Why not go back to the truck and pout instead of doing this unless you just want some attention on your way out?
It’s funny for Webb complaining about people moving over on the start when he is notorious for skipping the rut and launching to one side..
Yep that and his sarcastic humbleness when he’s winning has me not feeling bad for him right now…
Webb is thinking " Damn I miss that KTM ".
Pit Row
Prado didn’t do anything, Hunter got the jump on both of them and moved over on them both. You can’t get a jump as bad as Webb did and not expect people to cut over on you.
As for him saying Tomac was holding him up, he was hovering around 1.5-2 seconds behind Tomac when he crashed so I’m not so sure about that
Just going to say that many of the things that webb fans have cited as being signs of his superior mental game have always seemed more to me to actually be signs of self doubt or mental weakness and we all got a big glimpse of it last night. As others have mentioned, whining about the start with his history of playing games, saying the guy he couldn't catch was holding him up, saying the season is over after 3 rounds.... not the hallmarks of mental toughness.
Exactly. On both points. That's why I originally posted; I guess the sarcasm didn't show.
Webb just doesn’t have the raw speed of the top runners. He's always been 99% there and figured out the other 1%. That’s hard to do when everyone is firing on all cylinders.
They obviously wanted Anderson and Webb for post race interviews which is why they both sat in the dirt on that jump waiting for the TV crew to get to them.
FELD/AMA have started penalizing riders for skipping requested post race interviews, otherwise they would have both gone straight to the pits. Webb looked passed about his night and pissed he had to sit there.
Did you see the track conditions at SD and A2? Sure on paper they were West Coast rounds but those races could've easily been East Coast races.
I like it. He's angry , not pouting.
We have enough of the just happy to be out there guys.
I was thinking in the context of the current SX season, not Webb”s past accomplishments and net worth. Maybe “panic” was too harsh? Although based off last nights interview, he clearly appears frustrated with his results….
called it on 4th Jan hes just out of the top group of riders and there were bulk injuries last year
this coming weekend is going to tell us a lot. He's obviously pissed and disappointed - in the past, a pissed Webb was on fire. Is that what we get, or does he get another 4-8th place, which will be the nail in the coffin for this season (most likely)
“All Webb needs is a few wins”?
Come on ,man. That applys to a big list of riders and is tough to achieve.
We are talking about a 3x 450 SX champion who has won 30 races.
