First case was civil. You can get money and damages but doesn't make you a criminal. Doesn't put you in prison.
This is criminal indictment. You can go to prison and have the rest of your life defined by it.
You can sue for anything and start civil proceedings. This is now a federal criminal case which usually doesn't happen unless you're guilty AF of something criminal. He's fucked.

Mirtl didn't let the legal system play out. He could have put out a short statement and then kept silent. Instead, we saw unhinged social media rants and Cooksey's videos bashing the Lawrences and portraying Mirtl as a victim. He gave us all plenty to talk about and it's not going to help his legal predicament. If society was misbehaving, a big reason was Mirtl's self-sabotage. .
You seem to be confusing public discourse with judicial process. They are completely mutually-exclusive. None of us here will decide Mirtl’s fate. A jury now will.
We are free to discuss whatever the fuck we want about him and his clearly unscrupulous behavior.
