That does look like a arenacross track? Isn't Paris normally full size?

It's just that you're not grasping the scale of that arena from the picture. It's one of the largest arenas in Europe, about 30 000 seats for sport and 45 000 for concerts.
It's usually 40-45 s laptimes.

Vialle 450 sx debut on Honda at home race is kinda cool thing to look forward to.
I'd expect Jett to easily win the event, but last year he dnf'd a race i think and Cooper Webb won the overal so anything can happen!

Still feel much smaller than most US tracks? And WSX last weekend. Feel like they left a lot of space, just looks like it could have been full size track.
Maybe lack of dirt.
They do have some constraints, like the freestyle ramp in the middle of the track, or the start that cannot be on the sides.
Don't think lack of dirt might be an issue, they carry between 3500 and 3700 m3 of dirt, always the same, well stored between events.

What's the story with the Curtain or Wall, that seems to divide the stadium floor each year?
Is it where a stage is / would be, or, is it used as the pits.
Or, do they have another event / or are preparing for another event on that 'other' side?
I'd like to get to another "Paris SX' but it's probably not on the cards, unfortunately.
I was able to get to a few 'Bercy's' at the Palais Omnisports in the early 2000s, to my last, I think it was, in 2012. And that, was a tiny place - but great to attend. They had multiple nights there, to, I'd say, make money, as I reckon with the track built, they would have been only around 12K seating capacity. Buggered if I know how they made enough money to pay for the ( reportedly massive, at least for a few riders / for a fair few years) start money that was said to be on offer.
The (french) flag wasn't my worry...
But to have at the same date both Paris SX and one round of the WSX is from my point of view a major issue.

Another cool thing is that he's supposed to race WSX next year.
Hopefully the current MXGP pass covers it, a lot to be said for having 2 days, WSX could learn from that , twice as many rounds from the same amount of travel and track builds.
Its a football stadium and they use half of it for the track, and the rest for pits. When they ran at Parc Des Princes it was full stadium floor , but i think they didnt sell it out, so they use half of it, twice , always looks busy, and half the track build cost and effort.

Paris La Défense Arena is home to Paris Racing 92 rugby team, and in the downtime it hosts various concerts (Mc Cartney, Back Eyed Peas, Linkin Park...) or other sports like Paris Masters in tennis or swimming competition in Paris Olympics last year (I think there was another Olympic swimming pool for training on the other side of the press seats).
In short there can be multiple configurations in this arena but I can't answer your question about the wall/curtain. Indeed it might be for pits as you suggest.
Yes the organizers famously clash since Paris SX has so much history and doesn't want to "dilute" its value and pay a fee to renounce its freedom to do things their way and just to be part of another championship. The event has prestige on its own, is financially sound and doesn't need WSX to attract top riders.
Things might change is WSX succeeds in securing top riders for the years to come and grows in stature.
I really thought de Wolf would take the opportunity to get his feet wet and race in the sx2 class, especially after testing in the states.. Obviously I thought wrong. Gutted..

Vialle could win the WSX championship. That honestly could be a pivotal moment in moto. A MXGP factory rider that is also racing a full SX series.
If he pulls in both championships, that could become the new template for Euro riders. And that has the potential to rival SMX in the long term.

It's an absolutely brutal broadcast to watch. It's solid production but just so long and full of so much non racing fluff.
On the flip side, it looks great to be at live though.
