Riding in dreams

I haven't swung a leg over my old RM in a few years, but lately I have been having dreams about riding almost every night. This morning I woke up from a dream about riding and when I went back to sleep I had another dream about being at the track. It's kind of crazy. Most times in the dream there is something keeping me from riding, like I can't find my helmet or I twist the throttle and it won't go. Last night I had a dream I went to get on my bike for my race and couldn't find it.

I figure this is a sign I should be riding, but I have been thinking that I shouldn't because I'll be 60 in a couple years, I have a young daughter and too many crash videos pop up in my feed. But when your subconscious mind is obsessed with riding, it's kind of a sign. Anyhow, anyone else dream about riding all the time? Does it make you want to ride like it does me?

I ride like Kevin Windham in my dreams..

I’m 60 now, I still ride, just a lot slower than I used to. Aches and pains are a daily thing, but it’s gonna hurt no matter if I ride or not. Just ride at what feels like 75-85% of your ability, and be ready for your ability to deplete itself a little bit every year. And never forget that you’re in the last part of your riding days, so enjoy every minute!

You guys are going to talk me into it. Yeah, I ride the old man's track and take it pretty easy. There is also a great physical benefit and I always feel amazing after I ride. I'll probably suit up again.

I'm not patronizing you as if you dont know this but just set clear boundaries for yourself, line the boundaries with things you love (family, ability to provide, etc), and refuse to cross the lines you establish. This sport can be great fun and safe.

riding, even slow and cautious is great physical exercise, but the mental part is priceless. I'm always in a way better mood after I ride.

Go ride! Just wear all the gear and stay well within your limits.

Man, whenever I dream about riding it's a struggle to get my entry fee in. Then I'm standing in the pits in my underwear while the riders are lining up at the gate. It takes me forever to get all my stuff together, and then the gate drops before I even get there. I still join the race, but my bike is glacially slow and I can't clear a "grandma on a tricycle" double. I get lapped every thirty seconds or so and I can't ever get to the finish line.

LMAO like I said I have a lot of similar dreams. Mostly that the bike won’t go. Makes you want to ride even more because bikes work in the real world.

I’m 62.

I dream I can wheelstand like I can ride my unicycle: slow down, around corners, stop, start. Very cool. (I was once pretty good at wheelies - through the gears, around bends etc.)

I’m not doing much trail riding, and haven’t raced mx for a few years. Still road racing.

PS

In some dreams I’m running late for my race. Often struggling putting my socks on.

In reality, I wear tight Fox socks, which are a PITA to get on. But I put them on early - before riders brief.

I have reoccurring dreams both riding mx or snowboards where I do a big drop off without a landing spot in sight making me fall into a never ending hole. Always make me jump up in my bed scaring my wife haha

Everytime I dream about riding a bike,I cant turn the throttle, like its stuck closed no matter how hard I twist it.

Every single time!

I always OJ massively and wake up right before impact. To the OP, age is a number. If you can physically ride then do it. Be smart, take calculated risk, and enjoy every moment.

In my dreams I can do great wheelies. 😊. In reality I can hardly do a wheelie. 😞

I seem to constantly forget my gear in my dreams. I have to grab the wet muddy gear out of the truck to wear.

The only two moto dreams I ever have are

1. Hearing my moto get a "last call" and suddenly I dont know where my gear is, my bike doesnt have gas, and for some reason by the time I find those things in what feels like 15 seconds, I turn my head to see the checkered flag waiving and my moto is over.

2. Going up to a steep but innocuous jump face, only to have my throttle stick and I am catapulted 150ft straight up......As I begin to descend to the ground I am screaming at the top of my lungs, and the moment my boots touch the dirt, I shoot outta bed and proceed to wake up my entire family.

Still waiting for the good moto dream where I clinch the 450 title in Vegas & cash a championship bonus check........

I've had multiple dreams where I'm riding offroad and go off a cliff, like hundreds of feet in the air and then wake up right before impact.

This is mine too.

Mega launch into the clouds. Never made it to the landing. Always sit up shouting profanities.

In every single riding dream I've ever had, my bike just feels like a CRF50 power wise...In the dream I'm on my 450, and I twist the throttle and it just won't go...I'm always in a race and trying to go fast, but it just won't go.

Not moto related, but I also have dreams where I'm running somewhere, but I feel like I'm running in water...my arms and legs just won't move fast, and I feel like I'm trying as hard as I can but I'm just running in slow motion...

Weird...

I also have the dreams where I can find all my gear and then the race is over before I can get going or it gets dark. I also have dreams that I’m riding and lose the front which wakes me up every time. Usually that’s more of a road race dream vs moto.

Ive had a few moto dreams, one that is re-ocurring is racing in anaheim and winning the race. Track is always a bit weird though like smaller jumps and random rider showing me a wheel for all 5 laps. (Idk why its only ever 5 laps)... and coming over the finish line arm pumping.

The other dream was reality turned nightmare, i kept having re-ocurring dreams of breaking my same shoulder in the same kind of crash, on the same fucking track (perris) idk why it sucks though.

I hit a tree pretty hard about 5 years ago. Middle of nowhere, all by myself, no cell service, broken hand and KO'ed for I don't know how long. Ended up on a spine board for 14 hours. Pretty scary for me. Anyways, I feel I was pretty lucky considering and the worst of the injuries ended up being nerve damage in my back that slowly came back. I was off the bike for almost a year as just sitting on the bike made it feel like I was getting stabbed dead center of my back. I had dreams weekly about hitting trees on everything, bicycles, cars, running, snowboarding, everything. As soon as I was able to get riding again, and not hitting trees every time I went out, the dreams went away. Self doubt fucks you up mentally. As soon as you can shake that initial self doubt the (re)learning curve becomes fun and steep again!

I have the same! It's not a dream, it's a nightmare.  I Whiskey throttle off a giant faced jump, there is nothing on the other side except panic, fear, it's gonna be really bad. It wakes me up, disturbingly. What's that mean?
