I'm glad it was great event for everyone for the most part.

The track owner is a great guy. My brother has known him for a long time, as they're both Polaris dealers and are only a couple hours apart.

That’s a huge number. Congrats on the promoter for making so much money. I know this race isn’t about the racers making money or the risk they take. But again congrats to the promoter!

I def feel both red buds 18 + 22 had more people on the infield and the infield seemed much bigger at them races, I dont think anything will compare to budds in 07.

Some things they could improve:

They need to figure out better ways to get the crowd to be able to roam..  You basically get corralled.  Lots of lessons to be learned from Redbud and Washougal on how to do this right.  It is really hard to move around to see the track, which they have the fences really dang far back from.

There was a huge section of the track (finish line area) that you could not access without pit passes, you could not get anywhere near the finish line.  I don't know the reasoning behind it, I hope it wasn't to boost sales of pit passes, but lame when you can't see the finish line.

The VIP sections and vendor sections are out of control.  They consumed way too much viewing area along the track.  And I am pretty dang sure they took out the Godzilla jump because it was the only other place that FLAT and large enough for a VIP tent of that size to be trackside.  It sucks when they take out a major feature of the track for yet another VIP tent.

They could use another beer vendor.  They technically had 2, but the vendor in the woods was about dry by Sunday.  I do not go to these to get drunk, but if I did want a beer, the line steered me to not bother.

I don't think there is a solution to this, but with the parking lot being a field, getting out of the parking lot to the road after the race was a cluster...  LOL.  There was roads in the field you were supposed to use, but a lot of people were going full Dukes of Hazzard flying across the fields trying to force their way on the roads nowhere near the actual entrance/exit.  It just made it a lot worse getting out.  I think it will probably always be that way, but some just showed their true colors, kind of a dick move.

Anybody else here sitting on the hill between the trees near the start that got stuck behind the large pack of guys from The Netherlands wearing their orange printed shirts?  I learned folks from the Netherlands are really freaking tall, and can drink and smoke like a retired Navy truck driver.  It would have been an investment for the weekend to have bought an extra 20 chairs for those guys, we got there at 7AM for a good spot, that ended up being not so good.  LOL

Some good things:

The weather was epic.
The track was beautiful, with soil that was artwork (close to Redbud kind of good).
There was plenty of food vendors, lots of variety, and for a crowd that size, the lines were never bad.
The souvenir stands were plenty, and it was cool they kept items displayed they sold out of with the option to buy online.
The international crowd was awesome..  Always a treat to see everyone coming together from around the world.
Announcing and pre show and post show was great, the presentation of MXGP is always fantastic.

All in all (if anybody still reading this) was a great time!  I can't wait to see where the race comes in 3 years..  West coast folks are due, but being even further for the GP guys, could come into play?  Washougal would be an epic place for this race...  Except for getting in and out.

I largely agree with what you have posted. I am actually surprised at all of the positive posts im seeing here. Honestly, I wasn't over the moon with this event and how it was ran/organized. The viewing was abysmal. There is a litany of other issues my group (6 of us) experienced as well.

Viewing:

  - No TV screens around the track at all other than the one that was by the starting line which was 100 yards away from the closest viewing spot and probably 200 yards away from where a lot of people were watching from

   - Couldn't see more than 30% of the track at a time and had no TV screen to help see the actual race going on. Not to mention alot of the sides of the track were littered with signage boards so you couldn't even see the track if you were close to the fence.

- Announcers were awful and had little to no idea what was happening on the track. My friend and I were actually laughing bc we had live timing up and would hear them say "TOMAC FASTEST MAN ON THE TRACK GOING BEAST MODE" meanwhile he gained 0.5s and made no passes.

Vendors:

- 1 beer vendor in a space with probably 25,000 people in it. Line was over an hour long. Inexcusable

- 2 food vendors in the main spectating area, one of which was cash only.

General event layout and infrastructure:

- I am assuming many of the people posting raving reviews in this thread did not camp. Why do I come through the gate, get my camping sticker and have to park and walk to a COMPLETELY SEPARATE ticketing area to get my wristband? Makes no sense, i've never had this at any other motocross event ive camped at.

-Only way to get in and out of the main infield was through an incredibly bottle necked tunnel that backed up any time people were walking through it.

- The "nighttime event area that housed the Racerx show, the holeshot challenge, and the music and light show was a 2 mile walk from alot of the camping. Once you are back there, its in a corn field with 1 (yes ONE) bleacher that seats about 20 people thats 150 yards away from the stage.....

          - The holeshot challenge was COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. If you weren't one of the first 100 people back there to line the fences YOU LITERALLY COULD NOT SEE SHIT. I mean NOTHING. They had a screen literally showing clips from fucking practice instead of the event going on 10 feet away. THIS IS JUST INEXCUSABLE. We walked all the way back there to stay for about 15 mins after realizing they weren't going to put it on the screen and there was literally no way to see anything.

- The police presence was odd. There were 4 cop cars surrounding the night time event area and security guards standing on the edges of all of the fencing. The security in general at this event felt like 10x more than any event i've seen also. They were shutting people down from walking around at 11pm. Who would've thought drinking a couple beers and bench racing at 11pm would be cause for security to come up and make you go back to your campsite? Just odd and honestly a bit uncomfortable the whole weekend.

Positives

- As others have said, the porta potties were the cleanest i've ever seen. They were cleaning them constantly.

- I guess if there was any benefit of having 1000 cops at this thing, kids weren't blowing up the shitters like they were at redbud this year. In general, this event was INCREDIBLY TAME. Like, more tame than even the last few nationals let alone MXdN. Take that for what you will, positive or negative.

- They got people out of the event pretty well at the end of the weekend.

Overall, i'd say there was a noticeable decrease in quality compared to the last two mxdn at Redbud. I think this opinion was common, as I heard others mentioning it throughout the weekend.

I agree with viewing, the screens were way too small, I had to take a pic with my phone zoomed in and then zoom in again to see who was what position. Def could of used alot more screens and much bigger ones.

Announcers were def bad, took them over half a lap to even tell who was out front and got the hole shot so maybe there viewing was just as bad as ours.

I assume the night life area was all the way out there so the sound didn't carry all through the camping which made sense to me.

The no wrist bands upon entry was strange to me but didn't bother me by any means, Took less then a minute for us to get 8 wrist bands for our whole group.

We camped in the unadilla lot and we all thought the facility was great. Parking went smooth and its mostly all flat and nice roads. Garbage was picked up non stop. Porta pottys best ever. Biggest complaint we all had was viewing sucked but that could of been solved with alot more screens and better PA system with more info.

If you want an event that is anything but tame you need to pack your bags and head to France, Ernée for next year's MXoN. Stay at the track to experience nonsense like you won't believe, leaving site on Monday morning looks like a scene from mad max, with blown up engines and burnt out cars all over the place.

They had to be counting both pit passes and general admission.  The turnout was huge but couldn't have been over 130K.  When I walked around Friday I wondered where they were going to put all the people.

Yeah because they had VIPs taking up all the space.  Seriously the spectating for this was horrible compared to Red Bud I hope they don't go back here.  Along with the asphalt millings everywhere it sucked compared to Red Bud. Millville needs the next one it's a better facility than both of them.  The VIP stuff is out of hand big time though.  I do agree the porta potties were well taken care of.  It just overall did not feel as good as 18 or 22 and 18 had horrible weather.

Ticket Options:General Admission (Camping and Paddock Access not included)

Thursday - Sunday | Adult (age 10+) General Admission - 4 Day: $185.00 + taxes & fees

Thursday - Sunday | Junior (ages 6-9) General Admission - 4 Day: $90.00 + taxes & fees

Sunday | Adult (age 10+) General Admission - 1 Day: $135.00 + taxes & fees
–––––––––––––––––
I went to several successive nationals at this venue & the early versions were pretty great, in recent years they've seen fit to clog up most all the prime viewing areas with higher margin VIP accommodations.
It was a given that the 2025 MXON would be a challenge in terms of being able to follow the racing while at the track.

Point being ;
If one were to assume an average ticket price of  $150.00 X 120K tickets sold.
Thats eighteen million dollars in gross receipts.
Not including any of the ; camping / VIP sales / paddock passes.

Guessing a lot of porta-potties can be kept clean for 18M.
And sure , it's not supposed to be about the money & capitalism reigns & yada, yada.
But at gross sales on the order of 18M or more, it sure would seem theres enough cheddah to go around towards putting up a substantial purse for the riders .. & maybe sacrifice some VIP tent acreage so the typical paying customer can actually see the race they paid for.
The riders ARE the show, as are the fans at this event - both deserve better IMO.

Keep in mind that attendance number was a 3 day attendance, so the 18 million number is way, way off.

Its pretty clear it was a great event, but 2-3 Jumbotrons and a way to keep the announcers better informed would have made it better. I feel sure that will all happen is they have it again.

It is an important distinction to be sure - calculations are based on the local news headline embedded above ; " MXON sells over 100K tickets "
Thats tickets sold, not attendance over the 3 days, so .. guess only the promoters are privy to the actual numbers.

I would say that Ironman attendance was very good roughly the same or slightly larger than Red Bud but Budds Creek was HUGE.

International attendance was down by a Lot.

Ive seen a few reports of 135000 tickets sold. We were at Redbud in 2018 and '22 and they were big but Im wondering if anyone knows the numbers for comparison?

I attended Charlie Kirk's funeral.  Ironman MXdN was nowhere near that massive crowd.

About 100k were at the funeral.

For those of you complaining about viewing I would suggest you have a plan based on the venue and event in the future. I'm a wander around and see the race from different vantage point kind of guy most of the time. That being said at the Des Nations events I do that on Saturday and scout the place out. We decided on sitting halfway up the hill where it levels out to the west of the tunnel that goes under the steep uphill that leaves the main arena if you will. The huge uphill into the tight right and back down was to our left, the woods section was straight out in front of us. We could see the finish line and the whole start plain as day. I also brought binoculars which made a world of difference. I could watch the tv between the start and the scaffolding with them. It allowed me to know the race order and see the action when it wasn't out in front of me. We brought our chairs over first thing in the morning and claimed our spot for the day. Anyone of us could get up and go wander or go get food, beer and use the immaculate outhouses at any time. The crowd was thick, but everyone was friendly and polite when you got up or were coming back. We had food trucks, a beer vendor, a large tent with tables under it and a huge row of outhouses 50 yards away over our right shoulder. I struck up conversations with everyone I encountered. We had two younger guys and their ladies from Australia sit next to us all day. The one guy said he raced with Jett when they were little. I will say the only regret or disappointment I had was the paddock pass. I was underwhelmed and wish I hadn't spent the $80.

Respectfully, America's identity is Capitalism. Supply and demand, being an entrepreneur and taking risks. I am not saying good or bad, just stating what America is all about. As a world traveler, I can tell you America is a better place to live than most people understand.

I've been around the globe some as well and around the USA as well. The midwest is a great place to call home and more specifically my home state of Michigan is the place I would rather be than anywhere else.

I’ve been at all the mxons since budds 2007.

Iron man was definitely the most attended besides budds. I was a bit younger for budds but I’d say the crowds were similar but probably more at budds.

Rankings would go as far as how many people it felt like there were

1. Budds

2. Iron man

3. Red bud 2022

4. Red bud 2018

5. Lakewood

"they have the fences really dang far back from."

This seems to be more and more of an issue for me at the Nationals.  If I can't be track side and close, then I'll just stay home and watch it on tv.

Unadilla has great viewing with several tunnels for quick access across the track, but this year they really enclosed the viewing area at the landing side of gravity cavity.  It's just not the same experience...

For reference to Redbud, MXGP claimed attendance of 78k in 2022 and 83k in 2018 for weekend attendance. I wasn't at Ironman but 135k is hard to fathom.

Would Budds Creek ever have the race again?
