Tomac is going to have to ride better if USA want a chance at winning. Riding behind a retired AC222 for half the race is unacceptable for someone at Tomac's level. He should have at least been able to follow Coenen on up to P7.
Also, it's a good thing Prado didn't race this MXON. He would have struggled to be in the Top 15 of MXGP today...
Equally Eli was 50 secs back in his race. Lot of MX2 and Open guys would have been ahead of him.
We know the Lawrences are going to be up front at the starts and Webster is generally a good starter too.
Cooper is the US teams beat starter. This might come down to how well Eli and RJ start in their respective races.
Belgium are going to be right there as well.

Saw a couple of big bore TM's and Triumphs out there, nice to see.
Either way I’m glad I feel like we have a chance and aus isn’t just going to run away with it! Imagine if chase didn’t get hurt. 🤦♂️ Oh well! Gonna be good tomorrow!
So do the US guys have the 11th and 12th gate pick since each team has 2 riders?
We're not happy up here in the GW North as the FIM's crazy "throw away your worst moto" system is plain stupid and unfair, especially in Qualifying. What's the point of sending three riders if it only takes two to get into the the final? Canada has clearly been penalized here as there was consistent performances by our three guys over the three classes, and in total points they beat Denmark (who got in) and tied with a couple other teams (who got in) but ended up bounced out because of the rule. It seems to us that three consistent rides from three riders is more relevant in a team race than two good ones and a failure. We suspect the rule is in place to save the so-called "strong nations" from embarrassment or elimination when they are saddled with bad luck or a weak third rider, but the negative side effect of that is to hurt consistent performances from full three-man teams. Again, we are not amused.
You guys are 5th in the standings? IIRC, you'd have 5th and 23rd.
Oh damn, I didn’t realize they ran it like that.
Belgium has such a solid team. And should have one for the foreseeable future
...They eliminated or down-sized the obstacles to prevent injuries to non-professionals from countries who don't normally race at this skill level, and to prevent less skilled Lappers from ruining the racing up front.
If you watched any MXGP, the locals can get lapped 5 or 6 times during a moto, which IMO is a hazard to the world's fastest racers.
I just saw the on-board Go Pro from Jeremy Seewer, and the track is quite tame as compared to what it was last season...
So Australia would have 1-19, Netherlands 2-20, Belgium 3-21, and so on.
That's why gate strategy comes into play. If they had gates 1-2 they'd more than likely line up next to one another.
Looking forward to the races tomorrow. But history has shown that one of the top teams gets hit some sort of crappy bad luck. Hoping that with the weather playing nice this year that it does not play out like that.
Interested to see how Belgium go with such a young team and maybe they will be the ones to take it to Team Aus for years to come.
Its going to be a good day for MXDN (yes D)
And if you had been paying attention you would have found out that track was changed for VIP areas - more money grabbing - but by who? I thought track got to keep attendance money and so would get any VIP dosh? But with infront I would not be surprised.
If he rides the whole moto like he did the first half of the moto today, we're good. But if he gets behind someone and gets stagnant....no bueno.
For sure sounds like Monday’s problem.
5th and 25th. I know for a fact that Cooper wants the 25th pick and that he wants the others to take the 5th pick as he wants to be on the outside
Pit Row
It’s to add more capacity I think, the place was very busy today and will only be much busier tomorrow
Soooo Stoked for Japan!
Heart-broken for Canada & Ukraine.
Proud to feel like “those are my guys” on the Aussie team.
Team USA playing it close to the chest and conservative? Not surprised. I’m guessing they’re gonna come outta the gate like Seal Team 6 tomorrow.
No worries. If we simply have 3 awesome races and we don’t see ANYONE on the ground? Well…
I’ll take it!
Good luck to all and a shout out to Lars and the gang for an epic day.
I’m fine with Tomac riding conservatively in the qualifying race.
If you like raw videos, this is a good one.

This dude has been killing it with Enduro videos I'll have to check this out!
You're ignoring USA's 35th gate pick and Tomac starting in 28th... Webster started up front and Tomac passed like 20 guys. HUGE difference.
He's doing something right. Over 1.1 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. Over 400k views on his French GP recap.
His recap of last year's MXdN race was great. I'm sure this year's will be just as good.
Is this the start of a new moto saying? "Oh man, I can't believe you pradoed".
So what did we learn from the qualy races; not much imo.
Guys like de Wolf and the Coenens showed they have speed, no surprise there.
Experienced guys played it safe; lots to lose and not a lot to gain given the start is more equal than most.
Never doubt Roczen.
Gajser will be in the mix as usual.
Jo is world class.
JCoop proved he should have been named a week earlier.
All things going well, the Aussies will be hard to beat, but you never know how it’ll unfold. Bring on the races!
You just did as far as I'm concerned. 🤣
It’s going to be hard for anyone to beat Australia. Webster performed exceptionally well today, and it looks like it might just be a repeat for Team Australia.
Eli changing forks was interesting, but as far as his performance, maybe that was "risk management" knowing he didn't need a podium spot to get in.
