"250SMX teammate Julien Beaumer endured a more difficult day at SMX Playoff 1, recording the 11th fastest time in the opening 250SMX qualifying session on his KTM 250 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, before an incident in the second timed session ended his weekend early. The 19-year-old was transported to hospital, where it was confirmed that he sustained a burst fracture of his L3 vertebra and has since undergone surgery to stabilize the injury."

In his Instagram story he also said he has fractures to L2 and L4. Had some rods and screws put in.

Tough break for Julien and including his head shot a few weeks ago.  He will need some time to recover and regroup.  250 SX East?

He’s young enough to take 2026 off and come back in 2027.

Always amazes me they want to come back at all after a list of injuries like that.

Damn, this kid needs a bit of good luck to swing his way. Not sure why, but JuJu reminds me of a young Marty Smith. I suppose he may miss all of Supercross, but just want to see him be healthy, and work his way up to his potential. Best of luck JuJu !

Hate to say it, but he should probably look for another line of work. Way too many injuries are piling up and he's still young.

That's a bad injury especially for a dirt bike racer.  I hate it for him.  Damn.

Just going to state the obvious and take the heat for it..... but this is why you don't rush back from a concussion in a sport that requires extreme focus and precision and where being even slightly off can have catastrophic consequences. Not a great idea for a football player either but there's not an extensive list of football players who have died or been paralyzed playing the game.

I hope he heals up and takes as much time off as he needs and doesn’t rush back. I wish he wasn’t racing charlotte because he had that concussion just 2 weeks earlier at budds. I hope he completely heals his spine, and his head, if that’s possible, as much as he can before he comes back. If he wants to come back early, I hope people in his corner tell him not to.

When cyclists, soccer players, American football players stay on the bench for months after a concussion, I ask myself, why do motocross riders think they are different and can "recover" from a serious concussion in a few weeks.

Maybe it wouldn't made a difference, but he hadn't any business being on the track already. Take it from someone who does a lot of reading on CTE & concussions.

Didn't ZO16 retired due to pain on his lower back after sustaining a similar injury?

Throw in a sketchy track, by all accounts, and what could possibly go wrong.

Juju is going to hate life in his 50s.

I know many won’t want to hear it, but Cooksey was right.

Racing after a serious concussion puts the racer and other racers around him at risk.  Racing SMX requires an elite level of reaction and coordination that could have easily been degraded by the multiple concussions Julien suffered this summer.  But hey, his chiropractor said he was recovered.

It’s a pretty serious injury that can easily paralyze you so I don’t think many people find it funny.

I think J mart may have had the same injury when he was battling Jett for the outdoor 250 title. I don’t think ZO had a burst fracture.

You think Cooksey was the only person saying Beaumer racing SMX seemed rushed?

I don’t know.  He’s the one I heard say it publicly.

Bummer for Juju but I don’t see why, with Davi in his corner, he wouldn’t take off more time after back to back concussions. Davi career ended because of them and Jujus been yardsailing himself lately. Slow it down and take some time off. Dax took quite a bit of time off after his back to back concussions.

I just hope he recovers fully.  I can understand the hunger to get back riding again. I ended up costing myself a lot of years of pain , by not taking more time to let an injury heal totally. I was spending lots of my own money to ride and missing out on work when injured. I can not imagine the desire to return when the payday is so big and You are one of the best riders in the world.

My buddy and I had Ian Trettel on our podcast before his Pro debut . It hurt to listen to his first interview after the injury.  He was so determined and it was his life. And all it took in his case was one big hit to the head and he had to relearn how to do EVERYTHING. I hope that Juju did not add another concussion in that crash too. If he did, I hope he takes it seriously enough to take some extra time if needed.

A lot of other racers have not raced after a concussion, so I don't think we should assume that he was not cleared to race by people who know what they are doing. It would be super reckless by him and KTM, Feld , everybody involved to allow him to return if he wasn't safe to ride. From the outside looking in, I feel like he should have taken the time off. He may have felt the short term gain was worth the possible long term pain. They still have the testing after a head injury right? The racer has to pass a test before they can race again right?  I know that I cost myself years of riding because I was too impatient to wait and take extra time off. I knew I needed it but lied to my Dr.s so they would clear me. I can understand why he would do it. I just would hope that people around him would have protected him from himself. Knowing how it could impact him longterm and them as a result.

I wish him well and hope he is able to recover to 100% and get back to riding so he can race Supercross healthy and 100%.

He will be able to race again most likely if he wants too but he’ll have hardware in his spine for the rest of his life. He’ll never have all the mobility in it he used too.

Man, what a hit and awful injury list. Them Lumbars are going to make it difficult later on with the pinch points in the rods. Super happy he isn’t paralyzed etc.

I am actually not of the belief he rushed back on a concussion injury. Generally speaking, if you can go full out with your heart rate and not have issues while maintaining focus you are ok as long as the brain bruising is healed. Obviously a lot of money on the line for these guys so the urge to come back may have been there. Hate to see it either way and I hope he heals up without further complications.

With ktm next year they were looking at only running JuJu weren’t they? This may put a bind on that plan.
