Sounds to me like Davies didn't express interest or Star wants quite a bit of money to have him there (fair enough) and neither Davies nor Motorcycling New Zealand has the cash to spend.

he wont have an aussie passport, which he would need for the aussie team,
shame we wont make it this year, but with a mostly volunteer federation and the fall out from the Crawford selection and B Final performance no one put there hand up, add in the extra expense of a middle USA MXdN and its not been possible to sort,
Does he need to present a passport, or just a letter from Motorcyling Australia saying he is Australia's representative?

Bloody Hell, that's a bummer, of epic proportions.
It's a big ask for so many countries to get to the MXdN, especially as so many countries participants don't make the big bucks to help them get there, compared to others.
But our Un Zud friends, have almost always got there, and, did so bloody well to - at times, better than the OZ team (The Ratbag Bounders and Cads that they are)....
WTF has MNZ been up to?
I wonder, If they are anything like MA has got up to over the years, perhaps they've been milking the Dirt Bike community ( almost inevitably, being the biggest source of membership over other areas of MC sport) ,while plowing funds into 'other' things?
Though, the "Absence Of Expressions Of Interest" point put forward in the MNZ press release, implies it's down to riders not showing interest in it.
I feel so sorry for the 2( or more?) Kiwi youngsters that are currently based in the USA, that they will now miss such an opportunity to represent their country.
About the only benefit is, that less of we Aussies time will be taken up in acting as interpreters for the Kiwis - they speak a strange version of English, they do, and Americans, especially, have trouble understanding them ......... We Luvs Yuz Kiwis!

We Aussies love to give Kiwis shit and vice versa, and we’ll also happily claim any New Zealander we like- enter Cole Davies.
But I’m genuinely disappointed they’re not able to front up this year. However I can’t help but think there’s some very bright days ahead for our cousin brothers over the ditch.
