ML, is Prado racing this weekend?
If Prado was bonus only offered by KTM, I think Kawasaki would have in the contract reserved the right to match that.
Once they (Kawasaki) successfully negotiate with Prado to allow for an early exit from his existing contract, the contract becomes null and void.
Interesting take.

I've refrained from all of this Prado / Kawasaki drama, so far.
It's a f**k up and a farce, from both sides, Is what I think.
But, I have to comment : does Anyone think Kawasaki would want to retain him?
I doubt Kawasaki would want to retain him! Just like they were willing to let Anderson go.
The fact that Anderson and Prado were struggling with this bike says to me that there really must be something wrong from Nike or team standpoint. I don’t think it’s all Prado being a terrible person.
Anderson never said a word about struggling with the bike. He said he had personal problems that led to his departure from the team. Maybe Kawasaki’s biggest problem was that they had two riders not willing to push themselves hard enough to go where the Lawrence brothers were willing to go outdoors this summer. Anderson is over the hill and has never been much of an outdoor warrior at any point in his career. If he comes back healthy next year, he could still squeak out a podium or two in Supercross if the cards fall his way no matter who he rides for.

I don’t, why would they? It’s been a disaster relatively speaking and It doesn’t appear that he wants to be there any longer.
Nice video. Haven’t listened to anything swap in a while. Taka is always a good listen.
An even worse look that febvre is on a production frame last couple years and winning and Prado is doing what he’s doing.
I think they would. There’s no doubt Prado is talented and can be much better than he has been. If Prado could accept that the Kawi will never ‘feel’ like the GG and learn to adapt a long with finding a set up he liked nothing is unsalvageable.
I think if the bike had a massive failure and caused some really bad crashes there would be more too it. But it seems more like the bike wasn’t fast enough at first, they seemed to fix that and then he complained of it bottoming to easily. Seems like stuff that can be fixed.
Maybe Prado has gotten a reality check over the last couple weeks. SMX will be interesting.
Biggest difference between Febvre and Prado is the fact that Febvre won't quit. What was it, 2015 when he crashed in Italy and his bars were completely tweaked and bent? Guy didn't give up and continued to ride as hard as he could with one side bent down almost to the shroud. Prado quits when he doesn't like the bike.
Febvre is one guy I always wanted to see come to the US. Always been a fan of his.
He’s having an incredible year. He’s 33 years old and has a good chance to win the title this year. 30 point lead 3 races to go. Super impressive.
After prado goes back to KTM will he join Tomac in WSX? That would be good gatedrops & proper testing before AMA SX to get comfy
Probably not since it's not for an option year.
As I've stated earlier, there may be more to the story. If Kawi is doing their best to tune the bike to Prado's liking, and Prado is just cruising around trying to get fired so he doesn't have to pay a penalty for exiting his contract early, then if Kawi could retain him just for win bonuses, it would send the right message to both Jorge and other riders that a contract is expected to be honored, and riders are expected to ride to their ability.
I hope the whole story comes out, from all sides.
There’s no reason to suspect Kawi isn’t trying to help him. If anything Theres evidence to the other side.
Exactly!
From all the reporting I've seen and read, Kawasaki has been all hands on deck "working their balls off" to quote Broc Tickle, to get his bike set up correctly. To suggest otherwise is bs. Espescially since they signed him to such a big contract. What would possibly be Kawasaki's motivation to not do it? I'm sorry, but this is all on Prado.
Pit Row
While I agree it’s more on Prado. Even if Prado is the worst racer in the world at setting up a bike Kawi would still bear some responsibility for the set ups they have given him not making him comfortable or confident. But I think it’s probably 90% Prado 10% Kawi.
How Chase performs will really influence this story. Kawi is already leading in MXGP, another example of a rider doing well will help Kawi, and put a nail in Jorge’s story.
right or wrongly ......almost every american motorcross fans hate you.... if you read all the massages and listen to almost every podcast....... so be smart and go back to mxgp ........
Hate, no. Currently disrespect, yes. He can change that.
oké disrespect than
Hate??? Not at all. Just full on disappointment at his entire effort. I was a fan of him coming over and fully expected to see him run top 3 on occasion and nail a handful of podiums.
We saw nothing like that…
I think that’s a ridiculous statement to make. I’m an American and I certainly don’t hate him. Rather I think it would be awesome to see him and Kawi get it sorted out and for him to ride up to his and everyone else's expectations and put this ugly episode to bed.
Wrong. I was stoked to see him come over, especially on a Kawi. I wanted to see him running up front with Jett, Eli, Hunter and Chase outdoors. What we got was a guy that bad mouthed his team any chance he got and literally quit on the team. We don't hate, but we absolutely lost respect for him.
No hate but great disappointment on how he has disrespected the team and fans by quitting and not putting any effort in and then blame the team….
"....Kawi could retain him just for win bonuses..." No, sorry, they can't.
In any dispute such as this, the drafter of the contract (in this case, Kawasaki) is the one who has to wear the white hat. They cannot get their hands dirty or a court will hammer them senseless. That engine dude who candidly spoke his feelings about Prado? - You might like what he said, but an argument could easily be made that he was speaking as a paid representative of Kawasaki, and uh oh - BAD, BAD, VERY BAD. I've been through this type of thing a time or two and I've won my case in court every time, despite having to take on entities who thought they would crush me like a grape under a jackhammer. So yes, Kawasaki can sue Prado for breach of contract and perhaps exit their agreement with him seamlessly, but unlike what some of you think, they cannot alter an existing contract THEY DRAFTED to suit their desires. At least, not without Prado's express written consent - and that ain't happnin'. He's gone.
There's an old adage in contracts and agreements such as these, and the adage goes, "Above all else, keep the talent happy." You might LOVE Kawasaki's abilities, but in this particular instance they are not 'The Talent' - Prado is. I'm not saying he will escape this situation unwounded, but if I had to place a bet on which signatory will end up pleased by the outcome, it's an easy call: I'm putting my money on the haplessly optimistic guy who signed a lucrative contract in good faith, not the giant corporation with a huge legal team who wrote that contract and then couldn't provide The Talent with a bike he felt safe on. As infuriating as this might sound to most of you, Kawasaki, not Prado, should have known better.
It’s like a Christian Craig Husky rerun (to a point).
That's all true..... but have you considerd that maybe the only way to leave kawasaki is through this behavior...he must have had a really bad time there.....if you look at how much money he's missing out now....
