Simple, where did he once say he has work to do? He could've mentioned i didnt communicate effectively enough to the team on what I needed, I suggested wrong set up ideas, but instead he is blaming the entire team like he is the victim.

Team Kawasaki has a history of not accepting rider input.

They also have a big history of winners and champions and usually if you’re their number one guy you’re good. Prado was their number 1 guy this year. With what Prado showed this year, I think he just came up with whatever excuse cuz Jett and the boys were just too damn fast. I couldn’t imagine Chase or Eli going over to the MXGPs next year ona different brand bike and doing what Prado did this year. Let alone the excuses.

I do remember some us rider coming over from the states, i believe on the same brand he was racing the year before in ama. And hé was not riding very well. Didnt even finish the season. Let alone 6th overall.

RV won an overall on his 2nd attempt and when he broke his ass he was above Febvre in points who by the way won the title that year. People that still shit on RV are absolute idiots, people get injured in our sport every single year, part of the sport sadly. To be honest... at this point, if Kawi benched him I would buy a shirt to show my support of getting rid of him. Maybe not a bike or a silly SxS.... but at least a shirt.

For the reasons I will not disclose with all of the BS and "reasons" already rounding here I wilk say this :

Jorge had propably tge toughest year in his life not only in his carreer. To get used to the way of life in the states where immigrants run the show. He propably still a bit shocked that the mighty US & A is a complete 3rd world country.

Also he left behind the whole of his social circle and might feel a bit lonely, as you need people around you to socialise and have laughs and talks. Jorge's only friend seems to be 25 years older Chad Reed. He could feel that he is alone against the whole  industry. That is just the personal feel. Now comes the team and environment change. Must feel terrible to Jorge that, he gets a start but as soon as the bike warms up properly (gets to race temp) it is completely another bike that he was riding two laps ago. Add the factor that he has ridden KTM for all of his life. There he did not have to know what to ask, as all of the setup work and feedback of those setups where done for him. As Jorge isn't technically gifted, well he doesn't recognize a piston if it hits his balls.

He is in a bad situation, as kawasaki USA is known for their attitude - villopoto won with us, tomac won with us, it is not the bike it is the rider.

But as I have seen Jorge ride a bike personally and close - seen him on practises on different tracks and european camps.

All I can say, you do not know the guy, you do not know the grind and work this guy puts in it. He is a 2 time MXGP champ, battling the likes of Herlings, Gaijser, Febvre and coming out on top.

Jorge on the Kawasaki is only a shadow of the Jorge he was on the De Carli Bike - People can't seem to tgink about the team - De Carli is the team that brought you 9 time World Champ Antonio 222 Cairoli. He came from the most succesfull MXGP team to a total shithouse in AMA. When did Kawasaki field a rider last time who was capable of a championship? Wasn't it Eli Tomac on 2017,18 and 19 and after that when Eli left, Kawasaki has looked more than a 2nd tier team?

To Jorge Prado and Kawasaki - do not throw your guns away. I am a huge fan of both. Jorge, the cleanest slow dude on the track who is usually 1st. Kawasaki as a brand. Jorge should just rebuild an engine and take the bike apart and put it back toghether with his mechanic to get some knowledge of how the stuff works and gel with the team more. You must know how to set up your bike and how the stuff works mechanicaly to set it up to your likes

Do you think someone saying "the USA, where immigrants run the show" would seriously fall into the category with someone you would call "woke" IE an overly outward liberal?...no. You don'tt even understand the insult you are trying to throw out.

Having said that,, the post you are replying to is so all over the place I can'tt even follow wtf they are trying to say lol.

From Jorge Prado's Instagram account:

"P-6 Overall in the @promotocross standings. It was a very tough season to say the least. Cruising around every single race was heartbreaking for me, especially knowing my capabilities… Never felt comfortable on the bike, not even a bit! This builds to an unsafe feeling on it. Didn’t expect this year to go this way at all.

Happy to be in one piece and fit. Hopefully we’re back where we belong soon 🫡"

what a clown

Can we just stop blaming Kawasaki for this?.

Yes they were stubborn 10-15 years ago but things have changed with Wirdeman as crew chief. It’s clear that they put in the work, Oscar has been with Prado for weeks testing at club etc.

I’ll promise that they have done just as much as any other brand would have done to make their ultra expensive investment get along with the bike.

Honda was in one way before and have gotten way more relaxed with Lars as team manager, teams evolve and you can’t stamp them in the same way forever..

I wouldn't be so sure. It's enough Kawi wouldn't be allowed to alter fork heights, linkage ratios, offsets etc because Japan says it's not allowed. As I said before, Honda refused to change it. Yamaha Japan still don't allow teams to talk directly to engine builders in Italy.

I haven't heard one thing that they are as open as they claim to be. All historical info says otherwise. You are just assuming it's better. Anderson and AC was/is not happy with the new 2023 bike (despite results).

I could see the conversation going:

Great engine is in place. Suspension is stiffer but now it's unstable. I need different offsets, other linkage to lower the bike or whatever more to make it stable.

Kawi: no sorry, can't do that. It doesn't work on our bike. It's not been tested, and it's not approved by Kawi Japan. Prado: I'm out, I'm not spending another 4-6 months fighting for shit that KTM gave me in 2 days.

Kawi could kill the above immediately, but they have an even worse approach than Prado: They dont communicate shit and that is typical for someone that doesn't want to be placed against the wall and have more detailed questions around their program asked.

What a homer....And we all also remember a win and being competitive in the few races he was in in before injury....Now George on the other hand has given zero effort, verbally blaming the team and bike, and hasn't been even close to being competitive outside of Southwick....He has quit on his team and the fans....but what he did at Budds is inexcusable, to quit and put no effort into qualifying and to do it on purpose to avoid racing is complete BS....time for baby George to go back to MXGP with his tail between his legs because there is no coming back from this...

Just for the drama, I’d love to see how he’d do on a bike similar to his GP bike at MXDN but I never held Prado in that high regard. He’s a holeshot and hold on guy who won in the absence of Herlings

Stewart did the same, quit the team, he could and they allowed it. Bike sucked. Listen to Phil on Pulp.

Don't see you setting fire to James?

Kawi forcing Prado to race a bike he isn't comfortable on because they have penalties in their contract not fielding riders, that is BS. Will end up like Chase, crashing out while trying. Or James.

Kawi should have stepped up like KTM did with Viałle, with proper communication. That's how a serious team handles it. Ok, you are not comfortable, let's work this out and sit you out. Instead it's being reported they are forcing him to ride SMX to avoid penalties.

There is always two side to look at it.

No... Stewart left a team he never quit on a team....and I certainly don't remember him trying to sandbag so bad as to not qualify on purpose...James, although unhappy,  showed up and put his best effort in every week (It's where his win or crash rep came from).....sorry but it's time for your boy and his Prima Donna attitude to head back to MXGP with his tail between his legs...I was a fan and was rooting for his success but then he started blaming the team, a team that was doing everything to make him happy, and all he did was shit on them...just imagine how this would be going if he was on Star and blamed and quit like he has....Bobby would physically throw his pompous ass out in the street...

A few years ago people said Mark Marquez was unsafe and had no business even being on a moto GP track because he crashed the Honda at almost every round. Now he’s having an historic year after his switch to Ducati. Prado is not clicking with this bike in that same way Mark couldn’t with his Honda. Even after winning multiple championships on a Honda previously. I’m looking forward to seeing if Jorge can rebound going back to KTM just like Mark has after changing teams.

Yea but mark was giving 100% effort if not more. That’s why he was crashing. Now he’s making motogp boring😂

Stewart quit. He didnt want to race anymore on that bike.

Jeremy Albrecht, also a former mechanic for James in his early pro days, had this to say about his rider in an April interview with Cycle News.com.

“I think it’s confidence, he’s thinking it’s something with set-up or whatever. But we go testing, and he picks the set ups that we race with, it’s not like we build it and say ride it. When all these rumors started, nothing seemed that bad.”

Then he quit the team. Its well known. And Phil should know better than anyone.

If Kawi allowed Prado to leave, he would leave.

No excuse for what he did at Budds Creek. I think that was a result of a relationship beyond repair. They must separate ASAP...

Lewis, I haven’t seen any interviews with Jorge regarding Budds Creek. Did he just refuse to talk to you guys?

It’s comical that you think the Stewart situation and the Prado situation are the same….James never quit trying….George has yet to…I know you are a huge MXGP apologist but even one that is blinded by their faith can see the difference….and you may want to listen to the Pulp show again as Matthes said pretty much the same as me…James never quit he just left the team he didn’t like….George quit trying….big difference…

In all seriousness, Prado's setup looks way too soft.  Looks to me like he's blowing through the travel initially and hitting a wall of compression damping that a pro would want.  That overly soft initial movement would make it hard to charge into anything confidently.  There was a particularly rutted/choppy downhill at Budds Creek which made it easy to spot.

His English is quite good, but I suspect there is a communication gap: his request for more "comfort" is probably being interpreted as "softer" and it makes his setup look worse and worse.  I maintain he should drop $10k on the A-kit setup of his choosing and get the standard pro-level stiffness and see if he can do better.  The reason he did ok in SX is probably because he had no basis for setup and they gave him a good baseline.  Outdoors probably started similar and then the downward spiral began.  Really a shame.

Jorge doesn’t know how to set up or test a bike. And then doesn’t push in practice.

How I imagine the convo goes

JP: the bike is not comfortable.

Kawi: What’s the problem?

JP:……

Kawi:…

JP: I don’t like the bike.

Does anyone know if Reed kept working with him or did Chad realize he’s wasting his time?

Team Kawasaki has a history of not accepting rider input.

They also have a big history of winners and champions and usually if you’re their number one guy you’re good. Prado was their number 1 guy this year. With what Prado showed this year, I think he just came up with whatever excuse cuz Jett and the boys were just too damn fast. I couldn’t imagine Chase or Eli going over to the MXGPs next year ona different brand bike and doing what Prado did this year. Let alone the excuses.

As LP & Adam reminded us, let's remember that JP was also pretty vocal against KTM back then and despite the World Championships, there was no love lost at the end of 2024 season.
If I was KTM negotiating a ride for him, I would seriously bootcamp him at Baker's for next MX season.

Prado and RV are (were) in way different parts of their career and in most sane people's eyes this has nothing to do with what side of the pond they come from. Also RV crashed while battling and did not "cruise" around. Seems pretty clear the team isn't thrilled so think that speaks volumes over speculation etc.

I don’t know but he won two motos in the Des Nations on a small bore from the back row if it’s the guy I’m thinking of. Beat the best in the world twice I think that day.

No, James tried until he crashed is what he said.

Thats not a positive thing. Then you end up like Stewart, or Sexton, or Canard.

James quit the team, because of the bike.

Well, we have a guy that is, to some degree, transparent and thinks that the bike is not good enough for him.

Then he gets roasted because he is transparent and throws the bike under the bus, at least that's how most take it.

No wonder guys don't say anything to the press.  Think anyone is going to speak their mind again?  It's not a rare incidence about a rider not gelling with a bike or team, in fact it happens more than we will ever know.

After This roasting, we will never know what goes on behind the scenes again.  Ever!

I always hate this shit. "I thought you wanted guys to be transparent;." Yes, hiding information is stupid. Saying a bunch of lazy bullshit is also stupid. It's not a binary. He could be transparent about his struggles with the bike and also take responsibility for his role in this season.

Time will tell if it's all him, a combination of he and the bike, or the bike.

I think the media has just spun this into clickbait heaven, as everyone and their brother is talking about this  and talking about Prado in a very bad way.

Obviously both have a fiduciary contract to one another, so neither has thrown in the towel.  Why?  We will know soon enough....

We should have poached Gasjer instead of this guy. Tim is easily the best guy that Europe has produced in the last decade. He’s a warrior.
