I need Eddie Ray to narrate a Harry Potter movie so that the first two hours are about Harry putting on his shoes
They are past champions, they know the rules. They are promoters of AMA races. And they making fun of the situation on Insta. All around shitty of them.
“Yeah but the big bore kit only cost 50 bucks on Amazon.”
Still trying to understand the logic behind that excuse.
After about 15 minutes of of his rambling nonsense and beatind around the bush I had to shut it off. Kris and Steve knew it was stupid and looked like they were about to fall asleep listening to it.

Yeah, that was quite the tough listen. He seems to be caught up on it morally not being a huge deal to run the cheater bike since his son is heavier for his age. Uh, it’s a huge deal at that level.
Then the whole not seeing the need to legitimately apologize because, “it won’t be taken seriously” thing sent me. Yikes.
Not a good look trying to justify cheating,
Eddie Ray whole excuse is his kids to big for a pw so instead of moving him up a class he decides to cheat. Dudes a loser just say we cheated and got caught instead he's trying to convince everyone it was cool.
I am glad Keefer changed his tune it seems. I haven’t listened to that part of the show yet. Initially he was definitely in the it’s not a big deal camp. I wasn’t a fan of that take.
Man, that made the situation even worse. If you don't care about your kid racing, then why cheat? Dude made zero sense and just rambled on.
So he ran a big bore cause he knew his son could never win but then he does win. Now he says screw it might as well go all the way? Yeah I'd be pissed if my kid was in that class
He also said he'd help his son cheat in the 250B limited class (because everyone else is doing it), so there's that...
That was so cringeworthy. He's a friend of the show so they let him ramble on, but all he did was dig that hole deeper in my opinion. That caller hit the nail on the head when he said the moment you follow your "I was wrong" with a "but", it takes away all accountability. To say, it's ok to cheat because he only thought the kid was only going to get 10th at best is such bullshit... basically it's like saying he's only sorry (actually not even that), because they got caught. And the worst part is that it sounds like the kid was not even taught a lesson when he said "I still won", which means that mentality will probably be passed on...
Cheaters always assume everyone else is cheating. That whole interview was embarrassing. You could tell right away with his story telling nonsense that he was going to justify and defend the entire time, which he did.
This is the only solution:
"I'm embarrassed and disgusted with my behavior. I got caught up in this crazy world of being a 50cc parent. I lied to myself and came up with every possible excuse in my head to justify cheating. I cheated a poor kid from getting a ticket to Lorettas at the regional. I realize now that I planned to cheat 4-6 year olds out of top 20s and top 10s, and ended up cheating kids out of podiums and wins too. Worst of all, I set a horrible example for my son. I now I have to tell him that he didn't really win anything, because I cheated him too. I have to tell him that he's not the best rider in the country after all, because the kids who competed on legal equipment are actually the best. This is a conversation that no kid should have with their father, but it's a situation that I created and have to fix. I'm sorry to everyone."
If cheating is really as rampant as Keefer suggests (which I doubt), the AMA and MX Sports need to come up with a better solution. Lifetime bans? I don't know.
That statement alone should be enough to disqualify the dad from participating in any future ama sanctioned races.
I can't stand cheaters. They should be banned for quite some time.
Dude WTF Eddie Ray. That interview was fucking insane.
‘There’s no rule against breaking the rules’
‘I did what I thought was best for my kid’really you thought having your kid cheat to get in was best for him?? Putting your kid in that situation was best for him??
What an absolute crock of shit. Dude should be banned from LL for a couple years at least.
Right after the race I heard the kid weighs 70 lbs . And the bs story of he didn’t hv a chance of winning. I did it to build his confidence. Then the kid wins so I don’t think his weight held him back . He was fast enough to win. So all the stories are bs. These little kids take loosing Real hard if they think they hv a chance of winning. Should be a 5 yr ban for extremely bad sportsmanship .
Yea that was absolutely crazy. Also didnt Aden race 250 limited in years past? Is he saying he cheated then?
Pit Row
We traveled out there to watch our buddy race who was on a legal PW. He came up one spot short of the podium in the 2nd moto. (After the event he was rewarded with his 3rd place medal). But the cheater kept him off the podium where he could have had a lifelong photo memory, been able to recognize his family and supporters, and received the recognition he deserved. That interview was embarrassing and I couldnt make it all the way thru. And the fact that mom and dad are Loretta champs and own a training facility is one of the worst parts. Sad thing is no one learned a lesson from the ordeal.
100%.
trying to couch the argument because his kid is big and blah blah blah. Terrible look.
Sounds like Jessica wasn't aware of what was happening since he mentioned she didn't talk to him for a week after finding out. After she sees the shit show Eddie had on Pulp...might be a month before he hears her voice again. Hard to believe that someone comes on a podcast to explain what happened and hopefully take some of the heat off the situation and then comes across like he did no wrong.
I agree . I had a 2mm stroker crank 1 up 1 down for vet racing . Same bike now is 100% stock bore& stroke . I thought about another stroker crank to get more torque to get ovr big stuff . I,m quicker off the gate once in 4th it’s Very equal to other mod 125,s. I know I would pull other bikes in 4th on the start . 125 class is Extremely competitive I don’t want the family coming around yelling . It’s a cheater bike etc even being 25 yrs older than the riders dads . It still would look bad & I would be banned from racing the class rest of the yr and loose all my points . You can easily hear a 134 surprised a big race like LL nobody could hear the difference. I had people ask if my bike was legal & I ran 2 yr old fuel , still on the rich side too.
Total BS, she knew what was going on.
Why are they even interviewing him ? Because he’s a industry insider . A lot of people are put off by the special treatment bs. They get the best sponsorship deals only to get smoked by a kid no one ever heard of . Wasn’t the 125 c champ a kid from Wa. ? The last race kids on 85,s was intense. 125 b/c never disappoints. I don’t think there’s ever been 2 brothers that raced 40+ together. Make sure you don’t mention or talk to them either . 1 got 10th ovr all on a stock engine, no revalve just springs & a pipe . Proof that you don’t need A kit & expensive engine mods. That’s competing
My main takeaway from that interview is that Eddie Ray is not very intelligent and his kid will learn absolutely nothing from this.
I agree, I really just feel bad for the poor kid. If this is how his dad acts now when he’s on 50’s imagine how it will be if the kid grows up and getting more serious about riding…..
The fact he tried to shift ANY of the blame away from himself to his own kid was CRAZY! “We didn’t even want him to race! He wanted to so we had to do it.” Imagine being a grown ass man and pointing your finger at your 5 year old child saying well he made us do it!
Also admitting to running the cheater bike at the qualifiers to get in makes it even worse. And then refusing to even apologize! What a loser.
“What’s apologizing going to do? People are still going to be mad at me.” I mean, usually showing some remorse can show that maybe you aren’t just a total piece of shit if you’re being honest. That enough shows that he doesn’t care at all that he cheated or set his kid up for failure by not telling him or his wife that he was cheating to get there.
“I’m not one of those crazy 50 parents.”
I dunno, man. Your words and actions say otherwise.
Ray f'd up, he needed to fall completely on his sword and not talk for a long time trying to justify it. Plain and simple, cheated.
My boy is the same age and rode with Knox a few times at their kids track. I wouldn't say we know him but he seemed like a nice kid, mom too. Never really met the dad there. Now I will say, I was looking at getting my boy in their afternoon training sessions but having second thoughts now. Too bad Eddie didn't just come clean and admit he messed up big time. I bet he's only mad at himself for not cheating better to not get caught.
That was a very rough listen on the show. Not a fan on how that was handled either. Zero respect for cheaters.
