In my opinion that was the day Dungey became a legend! It was one of those epic moments in MX/SX history. As for the cause, I doubt Suzuki ever figured it out. 2011 was a sh!t show for them! One of their huge issues that no one mentions is that Ian Harrison had left. Very underrated member of Suzuki's success in that time period!

For the record. Dungey put on a hell of a charge and passed the Southwick legend John Dowd on the final lap to secure a 7th place finish.... and a spot on the overall podium for the day.

Think about Dungey racing at Indianapolis (I think) with a broken collarbone. Decoster commented on knowing what a real man Ryan was from that night.

Dungey gets...and has always gotten a ration of crap here because he was not confrontational or controversial. He never looked like he was going fast...when he was hauling ass. He was Mr. Consistent, always willing to take a second or third rather than to crash taking risks to win each race. He was t flashy...but was a champion & total badass.

I believe if you walked through the spectators at a pro race and you asked someone to name top 3 champions, more often than not, RD5 likely wouldn’t be in those lists.

In no order and no judgement, I just think the first
Names you’d get would be RC4, MC, JS7, KR94

Ryan's such a bad dude on a dirt bike. I remember standing along the entrance to a tight 90 degree corner at Freestone one year. He was coming in so hard and fast through the braking bumps that I could literally feel the ground pounding beneath my feet. Nobody that day was entering/exiting that corner with so much speed. It was incredible. Because he's so smooth, his speed can be deceptive if watching from the couch or in the seats of a stadium. I can assure you when witnessing him ride from a trackside perspective, his insane speed is plainly obvious. Mind blowing actually.

Again, outdoors Kenny at 20 was as about as good as MC ever was and at 22 was easily better. Outdoors you could say KR was pretty damn close to Stew. Indoors obviously not due to injuries but outdoors, RC is the only one you mentioned with more 450 success.
