Unadailla Track Prep?

Greg Robinson was on pulp monday. He said the torrential rains (i think he said 3inches in 30 minutes) that ruined the lorettas qualifier a few weeks ago washed away most of the topsoil.  They trucked in enough dirt to build 4 sx tracks after that and were trying to get the track back into shape. I doubt they were able to get new dirt everywhere.

Maybe they are getting smarter on the track prep and going away from rut-o-cross. 

That’s a se type of rain . Speaking of LL every time I parked at the pilot by the track it rained hard . N & w of the track 150 acre fields where under water including a flying j upon i24 .  No parking any where so I parked on the shoulder by the closed fj.  Then walked 1/2 mi to a pilot to get sandwiches & thermos filled across a tall weed field .  Walking back I fell into a 3 1/2 ft deep hole .  And tweeked my ankle bad the next few weeks sucked .  

Less ruts = good! My opinion anyway. 

So far, it appears they have found a better balance.

Honestly racing will be better this way. 

I miss the old days when it was a cow pasture the rest of the year.  Now that was motocross.  Fast, rough, technical, bad-ass.  When guys like Hannah and Johnson ruled moto.

This isn't bad, and I still love the sport and the racing.  I just miss the way moto was in the past.

I say scarp all the current tracks . And make Super Mx tracks 150 ft wide & race up, down & wind threw the Pa., Md, Ny. Etc moutains.  200 ft step up & downs .  

It looks pretty rutty in the motos. 

Looks like washougal on a normal practice day. Except way higher speed. Glad I’m not riding it. 

A little dust and the ability to take multiple lines makes for better racing. Shades of the 90s. I'm here for it.

And profresh, I'm aware that many Vitards are amused by your ongoing off-point personal anecdotes. I'm not one of them. 6600 and some posts since 2020, all of them with some nonsense about mob truckers or how great Wisconsin is. I lived in Madison. Worst 3 years of my life. Two seasons: winter and the fourth of July. And Dyracuse sucks.

Never understood the mantra of ripping tracks crazy deep. Flat corners and berms offer flexibility to move across the track and exercise proper race-craft. I’m all for a couple of rough sections with big braking bumps, but not every section has to be covered with trench deep ruts. I agree that it can be a treat to watch Jett bunny hop across the roughest possible track, but the best riders in the world complaining about track prep and being forced to run paddle tires at every track is a telling sign that the track prep is possibly overkill. 

It’s a shame that this meta has trickled down into AM racing but that’s a story for another day.

Dyracuse would be mint today with all this rain. Pro is probably there right now ripping sand whoops while you are here trying to put him down, come on man.

I typed out a big long bitchfest. Upon proofreading, I realized that I'm just an old man that the world has lapped and is screaming 'get off the track' at. I think I'll accept my black flag and scour the interwebs for a 'Dilla race with some grass on it.

I agree 👍👍 maybe find some ski mountains with good soil and all the infrastructure and amenities already in place. . Imagine sitting in a ski lift with ET3 ripping up the hill past you. Would be sick 

Grass seed would have prevented all that top soil from washing away and I bet it would have been a lot cheaper than trucking in dirt.

Just sayin'...

Loved seeing the uphill at the back section had the big rolling woops a lot like the old Unadilla had

Ha I laughed reading this post, because while I was watching I was thinking the complete opposite; why are there ruts in places where you shouldn’t have ruts? i.e. straight sections, gullies etc. However the prior rain explains that.
