Shout out to Suzuki of Van Nuys.  I drove over 2 hours to give them business after talking to dealers like Del Amo and having another dealer laugh at me over the phone (peak customer service while trying to have an adult conversation).

All Del Amo did was ask me to come into the showroom and they'd talk "terrific deals" but not a peep over the phone.  👎

I bought my first race bike at Suzuki of Van Nuys. 78 RM250 C2.

I was in Chaparral Motorsports yesterday and Del Amo Motorsports today looking for fork seals. Chap had a $1295 ADM on KX450s and Del Amo had $895 ADM on an FC450. Del Amo also had even more on an adventure bike. $2195. Are tariffs at work here? I guess I'll just keep patching up my FC450.

Those are Big City Real Shitty “Mall Stealers…I mean Dealers”. 🤣

Man I love seeing smoking deals on bikes just to remind people what this stuff should be selling for. Think they were blowing out '23 or '24 K450's for $5999 not too long ago...?

Where are folks seeing this?  I've not seen these ADM fees at reputable dealers I'm familiar with here in the Midwest.

That's a whole other story.  Can't escape tariffs when they are set by the current administration. As mentioned, dealers have been adding random "because we deserve it" fees, for years.

Some dealers are like Ticketmaster. Screw em both.

Yep.  The bar box fell out of the crate during shipping.  But they immediately took care of it. They were great to deal with.  Upfront total cost from the first conversation.  Arrived at my house a week later.  Got the title in the mail two weeks later.  Pretty awesome experience.  They were shipping other brands also.  The kx was just a crazy good deal and I honestly really like way it handles and the power delivery.

Yeah, I have the new gen KX and really enjoy it now that I have it dialed. Want to grab another for extra so I am thinking of grabbing one from them. Glad to hear it went well! Thanks for the info!

The cheapest bikes I have found year after year have been in Oklahoma. March of last year several dealers were selling Kawasaki 450s at cost+freight+$150+tax (no tax for out-of-state). Anything to avoid paying the flooring costs.

Anyone have advice where to buy in Vegas area? Definitely avoiding places with a ton off fees.

Sure hope this holds true for the new 2 stroke. Would be appealing if they are marked down like the 450s.

Call babbits.  Noah was my sale person.  You will have to register it in Nevada if you care about the that kind of thing.

I can respect the "no price over the phone" stance. Why? Because all another dealer has to do is beat it by $1 and you'll go there instead. (And some buyers will call each dealer in their local area 2-3 times, playing a round robin game of "who can lose the most money by selling a new bike?") At least come see the dealer face to face before you make the decision to buy or not. At that time, if they won't drop the ADM, then you can bolt.

That said, I do not f around with dealers; I set a reasonable price in my head and make an offer. I don't care what their writeup says. If they don't like my offer, they can give me a reasonable counter. If it's not close, I'll walk.

Disagree, why waste the dealers or your time if you aren’t in the same ballpark?  I get your point about the $1 difference, but in that situation I would go with the first dealer to give me a fair, upfront price, instead of a dealer that plays games and then try’s to get a sale by saving a $1.

Thankfully we have a dealer in WI that gives his price up front with no add ons and gets my sale anytime I’m buying a Yamaha product even though I have closer dealers that might match the price if I waste my time comparing prices.

You can always say "I intend to pay around $X" over the phone and if they say, yeah, come in, at least you are in the ballpark. Remember, not all buyers are as conscientious as you are - some would definitely play the phone tag game all day long to save a few bucks. I was exaggerating when I wrote $1, but I bet somewhere there is a guy who would drive farther to save that $1.

It's good that you have an honest dealer who has earned your business! It seems very few are willing to go the honest route anymore.

I can understand that but I will say this was after already being familiar with their inflated fees. That lead me to not waste my/their time by going in. They gave no indicators they could even get closer to MSRP.

Agree on kawis, I’ve bought several at reduced price. Unfortunately the used market in my area is really low for kawi’s.

They want you to come to the store so they can pressure you to buy. It has nothing to do with comparing prices.

Google "Cycle trader" and the bike your looking for. The best deals are on there. You may have to driv  a bit or have it shipped but you will save thousands especially now at model end year.

There are still 23 models out there. A Cali dealer has 3 23 DC450 Rockstars for $8199. No add fees. 24's are a tad more. Depending on the Commi state your in you can save sales tax also.

I was headed home one Saturday afternoon after we closed and one of the sales reps at KTM called me and asked if I could talk one of the techs at a very large Cali dealership thru setup on a 1290. Tech at KTM was closed for the weekend so I obliged. Guy was very cool but new and had never done setup on a 1290 which involves updating the ECU's and that can be quite a process. Just though it was kinda crazy that shop in MS had to guide one of the biggest dealers in CA thru a setup.

I lived in the US for 25 years. Still don't understand the advertised price is never the price you pay. You can't buy a $19.99 t-shirt with a $20 bill. Make that make sense... haha

In Europe, whatever price you see it's the price you pay. The 20% french sales tax is included in the price for example...
