Not only are you not a Sexton fan, you're not a moto fan.
I’m glad someone is on my page. 100% unacceptable in my book.
What example or legacy is he trying to leave behind. Throwing a tantrum every time things don’t go his way.
KTM should honestly let him go. That’s what would happen in any workplace. Can’t just turn up for the money rounds
Didn't Carmichael threaten to sit out if he got penalized for his fuel and was out of championship?
Certain guys always seem to find a way to miss the outdoors. We've also all seen guys that have put their 2 weeks notice in at work, and then milk it until the end. All goes against my work ethic. That said, that guys really are in a life and death situation on the track. Comparing my job pushing a computer mouse around on a rubber pad vs what they are doing isn't a valid comparison. If they aren't physically capable of performing well then racing might result in a death, serious injury, or a loss of confidence.
Chase's goal is to win MXoN and SMX, and only he knows what he's physically and mentally capable of right now and what he needs to do to best position himself for the aforementioned goals. So regardless of my initial reaction, after some internal deliberations I've come to the conclusion that it's a bit presumptuous of me to think I know better than Chase and the team what's best for them.

I don't have an opinion on Chase's decision specifically, but it sucks that motocross always gets the least consideration. Everyone is seemingly happy to miss rounds in order to 'get ready' for SMX. Yes, I know. money and so on, but motocross is by far the coolest discipline in the sport.
Basically the teams don't give two shits about motocross. Look at the career of Fat Boy Webb as evidence. It's all about supercross and now SuperMotocross for the teams. This sucks of course because anyone who knows the sport knows motocross is far superior to the other two.
Stop pretending this is a regular job. These guys literally risk their lives for your entertainment, and they are 110% entitled to decide if they’re going to line up for the next race. And if you think his decision wasn’t discussed with and approved by Ian before it was announced, you just don’t get it.
Yes, but JCoop and Old J are not elite like Sexton. You could be a serial murderer and the teams would be happy to work with you as long as you were winning or had the potential to win on a regular basis.
Man the Sexton hate is too much
OK, so now to protest against Harrison's hilarious itw ("I didn't see the crash and haven't talked to Chase yet, but this is not a mechanical problem') and total BS press release, Chase is officially on strike.
🤣
Just like Pala, we witnessed Chase practically fall off a building and get smashed into the ground, try and repeatedly get back on the bike to rejoin the race, and internet folk start calling him a pussy, whiner etc.
He’s been the only guy with the speed this year to make the 450 class anything other than the Lawrence show, those guys have it sussed and seem to have trampled on everybody’s confidence apart from Chase, who’s been out there to prove he’s seemingly the only guy capable of taking the battle to them.
Give the guy a break, he’ll be back, and with it his other worldly speed will also return, making the series a whole lot better that he’s part of it.
You don’t know what is written in to his contract.
RdC & KTM are big time in to the MXoN, his contract may say “if you’re not injured, you’re doing it”
And he wasn’t injured at the time of selection, so..🤷♀️
IMO he is mentally over the KTM. Whether it’s the team, or the bike, or what, who knows, but he is over orange.
So they can see through bike data that a piece of debris got between his rear brake? LOL.
Try reading the press release again. It did not say that data revealed that to them. Pay attention to the part where Ian said, "after inspecting the bike" and then later on, "we can also see through the data..."
Basically, there was a physical inspection of the bike as well as what the data revealed.
Do you expect anything else from vitalmx members? They are perfect!
Eh when sexton took off after Pala and came back I ate my words. I thought no way he’d beat Jett and he has. So he’s not messing around even if he is unhappy with this bike he’s riding great.
Yeah he did sort of beat him.
I mean Jett was waaayy further behind and pulled him in easily then had a few goes at passing before rolling off.. why? Because he actually doesn’t need to win. He just felt like it for a bit until he didn’t. Yes Sexton made him change his mind and I’m stoked for the racing. However..
Championship on the line Jett makes that pass for another dominant win.
Jett is at the point where he can win easily. If it’s not easy then he doesn’t push it.
Insane.
The weekend warriors that race a local series on a weekend is also risking their lives and they go back to their day job on Monday. Without these people riders like Chase Sexton doesn't have the opportunity to live as a professional athlete with a 7 figure salary.
Pit Row
You don't know what’s in his contract either, and yet here you are speculating what’s in it…
The Championship that should have been Reed's.
I am the anti Chase, however he took a big hit on Saturday, he's out of the Championship.
Why not recover a bit, test and fine tune for SMX
You mean Stews...
So no hate on AP for doing the same thing.
If you are risking your life to win a local series as a weekend warrior you should probably slow down...
These guys are risking injury to make a living from a recreational activity. They aren’t putting their lives on the line, let’s tone it down a bit.
They also have contracts that come with obligations; I’m going to guess that sitting out because you aren’t feeling it doesn’t appear in the contract anywhere.
As for your last sentence what are your thoughts on Chase sitting out between Pala and Redbud because he was “banged up”? Apparently at the time Ian Harrison thought he’d be out for a couple of weeks but Chase rebuked that publicly with no further info.
As a Jett fan I have to give it to Chase - he is the only current 450 rider that can really take it to Jett, but this outdoor season has been a minor disaster for him. Two weird crashes and a bunch of missed races with vague explanations.
I often think this about pro motocross. Love and support your kid, that is cool and needed. But go to work with him/her everyday, I don't know. I grew up in a family business, emotions take over from logic often in those situations, and not in a good way. Perhaps it works for some, but for a lot of families it can be incendiary.
Chase did fall from about two stories on a 250 lb. machine hurtling along at least at 30mph+ or so, people doubt he is hurt?
Do any of the mechanical/technical wizards think his crash could have been from a traction control mechanism malfunction?
I think Chase is a stand up guy, but this is making me think that there is a chance that he will decide against competing in the MXdN. Hope that doesn’t happen.
He slammed the ground pretty hard. He may just be over it with KTM also.
