Definitely a bummer - Alberto's a bit of a 'new school' version of Claudio de Carli - A Big, Boofy, Determined and Talented  Italian.

Yep, just seen that Horgmo crashed his bicycle and has required hand surgery.

Get Mewse in there.

Interesting interview on Gatedrop: Interview: Glenn Coldenhoff talks running at the front of MXGP, his future and more – GateDrop.com

Obviously I'm biased here as a Dutch guy, but it's crazy that he - while being 3rd in the standings - doesn't have a decent offer signed this far into the season. Seems like the entire paddock was waiting on the moves of Gajser, Coenen brothers and Herlings? I also read some rumours of Calvin Vlaanderen looking for options in the US? He is in 5th currently.

--

GateDrop: The big question for next year, MXGP or America or do you not care at the minute?

Coldenhoff: There’s nothing sure at this point. I’m still a free agent and we’ll see what happens. If a nice opportunity will come, I will definitely take it. Where that will be, I have no idea. We’ll see.

GateDrop: There has been some rumours you have had an offer on the table from America. I mean, is that true? Would you like to go or would you prefer to stay in GP’s or does it just depend the best deal you get?

Coldenhoff: You know, at my age, I know exactly know what I need – to have still have fun and to compete at the highest level, I know exactly what is needed for that and I’m just going to check which opportunities will come and where I have the best feeling with and we’ll see where we end up. You know, I’ve been talking to teams in the US, I’ve been talking here with some teams (in MXGP). I’m showing good things so that is definitely positive for that but it can also be that this is my last season, you never know. I feel like I’m still fit enough to at least do another season, especially if you look at this year. It might be my best year even in my career so we’ll see where it ends up.

Seems like he can’t or dont wanne stay at Vosters..

Reading between the lines with, i know exactly what i need.. Seems like he is not that stoked on a new project with Ducati as also Tomac and Gajser went a different route after riding the bike.

Seems to me Coldenhoff and Vlaanderen simply are not first priority for factory teams right now.

Coldenhoff can be a number 1 for a factory team, but those teams will first focus on other options due to them being better and/or younger.

And Vlaanderen simply isnt a number 1 guy for factory teams, so it doesnt surprise me his door isnt getting knocked at right now.

To be honest, i also expected a bit more out off CV10 when he got that factory ride.

Good 2nd rider and backup guy for a factory team, but i also see and understand teams going a different route with 2 heavy hitters or a younger guy.

Herlings and Vialle to HRC Honda Gariboldi for 2026 seems to be a done deal (motoverte.com).

Herlings on a Honda with Fox gear, no Red Bull sponsorship & I presume no Oakley goggles either  is gonna be very strange.

Really, no Red Bull? Why wouldn't they continue supporting him? Or does HRC Europe have a policy that forbids personal energydrink deals?

I've heared Fantic is out of the worldchampionship. Bike sales are low and dealing with financial issues.

Interesting to see that Omroep Brabant (local area newspaper of Herlings) posted this article on 26-7:

'Jeffrey Herlings verruilt zijn oude team na vijftien jaar voor Honda - Omroep Brabant'

Translation for you guys:

Jeffrey Herlings to Leave KTM After Fifteen Years

After fifteen years, Jeffrey Herlings will part ways with the KTM team. Starting next year, the motocross rider from Oploo will compete for Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), according to reliable sources from within the paddock. The deal is said to be a two-year contract.

The transfer is striking, as Herlings has spent his entire professional career riding in KTM’s signature orange. Known as “The Bullet,” he built an impressive reputation and achieved tremendous success.

The Brabant-born rider claimed no fewer than five world titles (three in MX2 and two in MXGP) with the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer.

Ambition

Still, Herlings’ move doesn’t come as a complete surprise. Rumors had been circulating in the motocross world for some time, and earlier this year, he himself hinted at a possible departure.

“I’d really like to go for one more world title in 2026,” he told Omroep Brabant in February. “Preferably with KTM, but they’re going through a financially difficult period, and I don’t know how that will end. If there’s no new contract, then this will be my final year.”

KTM didn’t go bankrupt, but Herlings is leaving nonetheless. The Honda Racing Team is highly ambitious and will undoubtedly aim for the world title with him in 2026.

Jeffrey Herlings was unavailable for comment. He is currently recovering from a collarbone fracture sustained during training in early July. He is expected to return to racing for KTM later this season.

IMO, if that's the case it doesn't look good for Jacky's team.

Fantic seems to be not done yet.

Team Maddii and team Martens are on the list to run their bikes for 2026.

We'll see... The factory is in a tough situation, having hard time paying for parts and workers. Doesn't look too good.

Wim Hutten was part of this case, they asked for 80h community service as sentence, in the end he got 60 hours. For Frits van Eerd his conviction is out of proportion. The judge convict Van Eerd for "laundering money through criminal activities", instead of sport sponsorships. This due to the involvement of Theo Eggens. Here you've a interesting article (in dutch but a translate app can do his work), it is a old article but makes clear how Theo Eggens became "the mafia auto-dealer", his nickname in dutch-press. How Theo met Frits van Eerd due to a mutual friend.

This is a translation from a dutch news article:

On Thursday, former Jumbo CEO Frits van Eerd was sentenced to two years in prison by the court in Groningen. This sentence will be remembered as one of the heaviest ever given to a well-known figure in Dutch business—and it was even harsher than what the prosecution had asked for.

The charges the judge found proven were serious: money laundering, bribery, and forgery. The court ruled that Van Eerd, along with Drenthe car dealer Theo Eggens—who was also sentenced to prison—were involved in “circles of drug-related crime.” Large amounts of money were laundered.

Van Eerd had enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Eggens. In return for various gifts like expensive toolboxes, motocross bikes, and a trailer, Van Eerd arranged for Jumbo to sponsor several motorsport teams from Drenthe. However, a large part of the sponsorship money didn’t actually go to the sport—it was used for criminal activities. The verdict states that “Van Eerd must have known these invoices were falsified.”

Despite this, Van Eerd continued to keep contact with Eggens “knowingly and intentionally,” but the court said he was unable to clearly explain why.

It’s notable that Van Eerd’s sentence is harsher than what the prosecution requested. The Public Prosecution Service had asked for a two-year sentence, with eight months suspended. The combination of crimes increased the severity of the sentence, the judge said. “Besides money laundering, there was also forgery, which makes the sentence heavier. It is clear the money laundering took place within serious criminal activity.

Van Eerd’s unclear and evasive answers during the trial—especially about the origin of the money—worked against him. The court saw “no reason” to give him a partly suspended sentence. “The court never gained insight into his motives.”

Eggens received an even harsher sentence: three and a half years in prison and a nine-year ban on working in his profession. Originally, prosecutors had asked for four years.

Because of the case, Van Eerd had to step down as Jumbo’s CEO. The company had already ruled out his return, regardless of the verdict. The negative publicity caused Jumbo to lose some market share, just as it was trying to challenge market leader Ahold Delhaize.

It’s rare in the Netherlands for such a high-profile businessperson to be sentenced to prison. For example, former Ahold CEO Cees van der Hoeven was fined 30,000 euros in 2009 for his role in an accounting scandal, but did not receive jail time. His assistant, Michiel Meurs, received six months of conditional imprisonment.

Van Eerd’s lawyer, Robbert Jonk, told the ANP news agency that it is “very likely” Van Eerd will appeal. According to his lawyer, Van Eerd is disappointed by the sentence. “Of course, you expect the court to disagree with you on some points, but we really didn’t expect it to go this far.”

Serious drug-related money laundering only gets you 4 years? Right there, is the problem.
