Remember that scene from On Any Sunday where Malcolm avoids the mud hole where riders are stuck and starts hopping over bumps before re-entering the race line? 🙃
Others may have been doing it for a longtime. But the way it has taken over with am riders doing it more and more is a new thing. None of the other guys made it THE way to ride. I'm sure that they did on a smaller scale than it appears Jett is doing now. I think that is the real point the OP is making. More of Jett getting the style to become so popular.
I remember riding with some fast local pros that would ride that way, standing in turns and low in the RPMs . They did not make it look as effortless as Jett does when watching as a spectator. When I watched them pass me while I was a gear lower and smashing my way through all the deepest holes and they would just bounce by, hardly revving and a gear or 2 higher than I was. That was when they made it look as effortless as Jett is. And when I realized how much energy I was wasting and why I was so bad in the sand. Its funny because I used to ride an MTB in a similar way. jumping over rock gardens and difficult to ride through sections. And I never made the connection that it was faster until that first time I was passed by the local Pro.
In SX one of the biggest things I've noticed about Jett is how he will catch the downsides as high up and as perfectly as possible and be on the gas driving forward before a lot of others even land. Other guys often are jumping a little farther and the bike becomes unsettled as they land . Doing that on every jump ,saving a fraction of a second at a time really adds up.
I'm sure he's doing the same thing with keeping the bike driving forward as much as possible as he jumps his way around the track . And I've noticed when I'm in a flow state doing one of the few things I've gotten good enough to enter that state of mind while doing. I'm also having a ton of fun. That way of riding may just help Jett be in that flow state and allow him to be faster.
Thats what I noticed the most. Feet on the pegs and standing deep into corners
And the necklaces.

I wish I could have seen those guys live. Grew up riding bmx and never could get a dirt scooter until later in life. "Jett invented Motocross' I about spit my teeth out 🤣
My kid went viral on social media (over 11 million views on Instagram) for hyping himself up on the line copying his favorite riders 😂 Luckily video didnt show his last place start 🙄
Interesting. I feel like a lot of these kids are trying to be like Deegan revving the bike to the moon as well.
Hahaha no I’ve never noticed that. Thanks for telling me yeah I was honestly wondering what the joke was
its the chicken head gimbal thing thats the real novelty IMO
They get fined, that's why Cooper Webb always thanks "the man above."
They should just say well I really do have a friend named Jesus and I was thinking him for helping me out prepping for this race 😂
They can all thank Stefan?
Google:
Jett himself has mentioned learning from Stefan and Harry Everts, particularly regarding the importance of standing up more while riding, which makes handling the bike easier.
Stefan Everts has confirmed working with Jett (and his brother Hunter) and their father on various aspects, although he emphasizes that naturally talented riders like Jett require a focus on refining details rather than starting from scratch.
Some observers even note an almost "eerie" similarity between Jett's riding style and Stefan's, suggesting a strong influence from the master.
He also lived with Roczen's parents for a while.
Jett’s riding style reminds me of KRoc’s.
WTF? Why are they being fined?
I’ll wait till the kids at LLs start getting knuckle tattoos before I make the call
Not sure about the fining, though Webb’s nod to his faith has been, “I wanna give it up to the good lord” and then running through the sponsor Rolodex when he’s on the box. For a while he only said that part when he won, now it seems more consistent as long as he’s on the podium.
I think those of you who think Jett’s style doesn’t have an impact on younger riders are probably the same guys who thought the Bubba Scrub was invented by JoJo Keller.
Pit Row
I know one rider was fined 5k every time he thank Jesus because the team and sponsors didn’t want to alienate people who didn’t have the same beliefs.
Webb is similar, but I don’t know how much he was fined.
Knuckle tattoos are out. Face tats are where it's at. Get with the times. 😄
Core.
