Surprised by the meagre attempt at padding, it doesn’t even come up to the head height of a rider on a bike.

I’ll say this:

If your gonna hire idiots to do a job for you don’t put them on the topic of safety. That’s just plain dumb. But then again I’m the dumbass.

If you see POV angle from a rider on the track, the tree actually hangs over the track. Lose the tree

Or lose some dirt and don’t have a jump at the tree.

Apparently the promoters like wood. Well one of them. Not gonna mention any names but I have heard it would be one way to write about it.

Slightly off topic, but the tree at the end of the sand whoops at Millville looked to be in the perfect place for a horrible collision. Might just be the camera angle though.

And people wonder why track owners gets sued.

We just had to take down some smaller tree branches in the middle of race day becaus it was slightly blocking the view for the flaggers, not close to this being able to happen. Official security pointed it out. Had to halt dropping the gate for next class.

For an event like this, that's embarrassing for it to happen, and as I understood it, multiple riders did the same and stil no one fixed it?!

I mean how many thousands of riders have rode past that tree and not hit it, looks to me like he made a mistake and that was that.

It was like 96 degrees there yesterday, place needs as many trees as you can get or we can cut them all down and make it look like Pala.

He's a riding coach now. Has been for a couple years now. If I had to guess the only reason he raced LL is because he's down there every year supporting his riders. Probably said screw it, I'm gonna be there, I might as well race. He might have won that class.

1. It's not a high speed jump.

2. It's been there for 40+ years and no one has hit it before.

3. Go look at the video again, his back end starts to slide out and it shoots him back inside towards the tree.  You can see that exact thing if you watch the moto on Racertv.  It happens on the first lap and he's in 2nd going into that section.

Not saying that it is his fault, just sometimes shit happens.

Or you know take another look at the track design and keep the tree but route the track away from it more? You know it might take $2,500 or so from the cash grab of this race to slightly change the track but I’m sure they will still be able to put food on their families tables…

Exactly shit does happen but learn from it and if possible make some changes so if shit happens again it doesn’t result into an even worse outcome.

It shouldnt be possible to hit a tree. It wasn't even a big mistake.

He jumped inside the track markers, he landed inside the track.

Another thing that would and should never have passed a track security audit since you don't follow basic track design rules.

I personally hate it for him.  I think he wins that title easy.  When I was watching the race live, I saw the bike without him on it flying through the air and it was one of those WTF moments.  I thought he high-sided, it wasn't until late last night that I saw the video on IG that he hit the tree branch.  Fucking insane!

Its wild the variance in track inspections on what passes and what doesnt, trees that close to thr tracks in Australia dont pass, well unless your paying the inspector money under the table anyways.

Blood in his lungs, too, he said. I just saw Matt Burkeen's video with him riding off. Dude picked his bike up and rode off! I'm gutted for him.

You'll see it on practice tracks all over New England. Feel like its a little out of place for a track and event like LL. I must be getting old. I dont feel like getting into huge arguments over these things on Vital anymore lol. Shitty situation all around

That second argument is so weak
"No one ever got hurt doing this before, so it must be safe."

That doesn't hold up in risk assessment or any safety discussions.

"I havent worn a seatbelt in 40 years and nothing's ever happened to me, so there's no need for one." lmao
