GL was asked to stay home for one weekend since he wasnt vaccinated at the time. It was the policy of Lucas Oil/NBC and one that he probably didnt agree with. No big deal, sit out Ironman and come back for the next two. Since they asked him to stay home cause of covid regulations, he said you know what I think Im done. He was getting frustrated with traveling during covid (2020 included) and the isolation/quarantine rules and made a decision he seemed happy with. Thats all it was. Per NBC policy he needed to stay home for one weekend and he could return to Pala, he didnt agree with that and voluntarily quit.
I do think Ping and GL have gone quite a bit too far with their inability to agree with someone who isnt pro trump. The ironic part is 95% of the motocross industry is on their side of political spectrum yet they make such cringeworthy posts and comments on social media. Your guy is in, you should be happy. Their beef with Pulp is 100% political and thats quite a damn shame.
As far as GL calling him mattress or making fun of his “moobs” Id like to see them both step on a scale. I dont think their weight is that far off. GL has packed on quite a few lbs since he retired. He also drinks a lot of alcohol too

I haven’t heard much about Grant Langston since he stepped away from commentating. I don’t really follow MX podcasts these days, so I’m out of the loop.
Some of the posts earlier in this thread don’t paint a great picture, and there seems to be an implied suggestion that he’s struggled with alcohol or substance abuse. Is that something people have actually heard on podcasts or interviews, or is it more just speculation that’s been repeated over time?
How so? the post I responded to eluded to GL running the business and couldn't do so if he has a drinking problem...I have no opinion either way but the fact is his dad and uncle run the day to day and I'm pretty sure GL isn't there on a daily basis shaking hands and kissing babies....
This is also a ridiculous statement. Just because he wrote a check to help the place get started doesn't mean he has fuck all to do with it being successful.
Edit to add: I don't know if he's there day to day or not. From catching random stuff in podcasts over the years I didn't think he was but I could be wrong.

This is exactly the truth.
GL quit - he wasnt fired, and he actually left the broadcast people hanging a little bit for the last few races that year.
Granted it didn't seem to hard to find his replacement, but for all those saying "GL was fired", it is simply not true.
There was a time where political opinions, especially in this sport, didnt matter which side you were on - but alas, that seems to have changed.

I’ve about had it regarding both Ping and GL.
A couple of years ago I would consume everything they put on the internet and I thought that GL did a great job in the booth.
But both of them seemed to go bat shit crazy the last couple of years for different reasons.
I have said it before that I don’t want my moto content to be about politic values and if a person uses a political term to discredit another human being i will lose the respect for that person pretty fast.
Yes, GL seems to have some issues but after a while that won’t count as a excuse. Sooner or later you will have to take accountability for your own actions and seek help. This is not a new thing and he should have done it a long time ago.
As goes for Ping, I don’t know what to say.. I like his good side, but I despise his bad side just as much…

GL, Ping, and Cooksey are 3 people who have made politics their entire personality. Brian Deegan is right there on the edge too and is trying to force it on to Haiden, but they havent gone completely off the deep end yet thank god. I wish GL and Ping would just keep their dumbass political opinions to themselves. Or if they really want to talk politics make a separate account for that. NOBODY is coming to them for their political opinions, we wanna hear about moto, and GL and Ping have a lot to offer in that regard. It's kinda Funny/Sad how Ping and GL are die hard Republicans through and through but live in CA the most Democratic state in the country with the most Democratic problems in the country but yet they keep on supporting the things they hate most. It makes no sense and has me questioning how hard they really think they are politically.
