Not the cause of the RED flag, but Holly hell that was nasty.

Damn that's nasty! Any word on how he's doing?
Geezus did the bike collect any spectators?
Sure looked like the bike landed on a group of sitting spectators. Hope all are OK.
Yikes!

Hope the person that appeared to get hit is ok, as well.
I thought Weege said it was Nordstrom on a Husky who caused it? Either way, I hope Hand and the folks on the receiving end of that motorcycle are ok.
Absolutely horrific. I hope everyone in the crowd is okay. Looked bad for Hand but much worse for fans looking the other direction.
Certainly makes you think twice about where to watch a race. Especially if you have kids with you. Makes me think back to Ryder D’s crash at the Stop Watch Nationals at Glen Helen. This one looked much worse though.
Yeah I don't think this was the crash, the one that caused the moto 2 red flag looked to be at the finish line
Holy shit !
Hope everyone is ok.
This crash happened towards the end of the day and did not bring out a red flag. According to reports everyone involved here were ok.
The red flag incident was Nordstrom and happened right at the finish line at the end of the whoops.
Reminds me of an incident at Southwick around 2008. Vince Frieze swapped so bad entering a corner that he was ejected over the chain link fence and landed on a young lady with her young son standing right next to me in the crowd. She was hospitalized but OK. Saw her there a year later wearing Freizes jersey. Hope for no injuries from this.
Man that is a scary thing to see. Glad to hear everyone is ok.
Some instapage ”drinkhydropower” said Chase mentioned this likely happening in pressconferense?
Any video?
was a nasty crash
Oof. Ugly. Hope the word that everyone is ok is true.
Regardless of where you spectate from, never, never, never turn your back on the approaching bikes/cars/etc. even at local amateur speed, the amount of ground a bike can cover is deceptively long.
Again, this is not the crash that caused the red flag. That’s Jeremy Hand and he’s okay. OP needs to change the title.
Happened a. Couple years ago at hangtown too on the jump up onto oak tree hill. Took a guy out with very bad injuries. We saw it and the lawyers called us later for the Lawsuit that followed but never heard what happened to that.
Build 6' high fences bike go's 10' high.
Pit Row
Soon such kind of sections will be banned or have catch fences like NASCAR/INDY ovals have. But be honest sometimes freak accidents happen, remember the tire who got shot away at the indy500 and landed outside the stadium...
I don’t think this is deserving of its own thread so I’ll just ask it here. I remember Washougal used to have the fences right up next to the track. Was there an incident that pushed them so far back or is it just a regulation they’re following?
That's why Indycar tethers their wheels. I think Champcar had a couple incidents that involved tires flying into the stands and killing spectators. I think they stopped racing ovals because of it.
Honestly, though, it's amazing how effective those catch fences are. They can take the full brunt of a stock car flying into them at speed. To this day, I'm pretty sure NASCAR has never had a fan fatality due to debris.
Cool that she was there a year later with his jersey. Wonder if he gave it to her for landing on her
Speaking of Hands crash, isn't that the same general area where Brian Barnes brother was flagging and got hit and seriously hurt in....2010 ish?
anybody else find it just wild that at the absolute pinnacle of our sport, the race is restarted in a manner that's never been done due to a catastrophic crash....and not one "media outlet" within the industry has even reported on what happened w/ the crash? Can you imagine NASCAR restarting a race and the media saying "A guy crashed somewhere. Don't know what happened. Oh well - enjoy the rest of the race"? WILD.
Its the nationals so no one gives a shit, now come January when the real racing starts again there would be 20 threads about it already.
That doesn't look real. Is it?
I'm pretty sure it was/is an insurance thing. I think it was a necessity to keep insurance. I remember talking with Ryan Huffman about some of the insurance bs back in 2023. I can only imagine it's gotten worse since then.
I know they were under some kind of pressure from the insurance company, saying the lanes were too close to each other and needed to have more space, which isn't really possible. They were able to agree to install that super-tall fencing you see now around the track.
Is this a joke? What part doesn't look real? Yes that is a real crash from yesterday.
