Amsoil in everything. Bikes, sleds, vehicles. No issues.

Maxima for everything. I was all over the board for oils, but I've been sticking to one brand as of late. 

Engine Oils: Motul 7100 

Gearbox Oils: Motul Transoil

2 Stroke oil:  Motul 800 / Ipone Samouraï Racing

Break Fluids: Motul RBF 600/660

Filter Oils: Ipone air filter oil

Grease: Castrol Chain Spray OR

Motul 300V with oil changes every 5 hours. Every 10 hours I also change the oil filter. Has been a great set up for the past several years. 

Rotella 15-40

As a MC tech for 40 years I have seen and tried just about every MC industry brand type of oil products.

2st being inside of motors where customers had used just about every oil out there some are simply not as good as others. Yamalube is OK but it leaves tons of carbon build up that you have to clean up so I do not like it. I have tried most of the different MC brands at some point  but I always went back to Golden Spectro at 50:1 because when you do a top end there is always a nice clean oil coating still on the cylinder and piston and almost no carbon build up that you need to clean. Its not how much oil you dump in its how long it sticks to metals.

2st trans BelRay 80W Gear Saver because additives make the transmission shift much smoother.

4st Golden Spectro full synthetic.

Air filter oil BelRay but I think it is just a little to thick so I add just a smidge of gas into it to thin it out a little.

Grease over the years as a tech I have tried of the different MC brands but BelRay has always been better because the consistency is thicker so it lasts/sticks in place a lot longer.

Chain Lube again I have tried most of them but I like Maxima chain wax. Works great and doesn’t leave a mess all over the swingarm that really pisses off street bike customers.

Pretty much maxima everything but I think belray filter oil is the best.

Castor 927 in the CR250, Maxima Pro 4 in the CRF450. Used to use Bel Ray H1R and Gear saver back in the 90's, then went to Amsoil in the 4 strokes in the 00's. Have been using Maxima for a long time now. Great products and Dogger. 

I just learned that Spectro are manufactured and marketed by MOTOREX USA. I wonder if their engine oils (PLATINUM 4 FULL SYNTHETIC 10W50) are the same additive package as Motorex? 

I used Golden Spectro premix many moons ago.

you guys don't get it Rotella is design for a 2500 rpm diesel engine not a high reving modern 4-stroke race bike !!!

Maxima for everything except 2 stroke gear box oil is Honda lube gear oil and grease is the motorex 2000 green goop that sticks to everything! 😂

Break Fluid: Typically an IPA, unless I’m feeling fat then I’ll go for a Michelob ultra like J Mart 

RPM isn't the issue with oil holding up, it's heat

I had run Rotella for a long time but have switched back to Rock Oil as i ran it from when i was a kid and is fantastic oil, Tranny shifts like butter. They also make great filter oil. On the two strokes i have never seen as clean of a burn as Rock Oil Syn 2.

I also agree! But 2 strokes, I might sneak iPone oil in their for the smell.

Another poster mentioned that It is known to foam at some point around 6K RPM. I have no idea if that's right or not. If it is, then rpm would be an issue. I take it you're saying that it doesn't foam? (I've never heard of oil foaming, but that doesn't mean much) 

You can see the bike on the jug and it’s JASO MA2 rated. Even the T4 is JASO rated  

Premix: Motul 800 (have also used Maxima 927 and Honda HP2 in the past).

2-stroke gearbox: Honda HP Trans (red bottle gear oil). Change every 2-3 rides depending on clutch use.

KTM 4-stroke: Motorex 10W-50. Change oil/filter every other ride unless a ride is short. OE oil filters.

Kawi/Honda 4-strokes: Honda HP4 (without Moly, gold bottle). On the split gearbox/engine oil CRF motors, used the gold bottle in the trans side and the silver bottle (HP4M, with Moly) on the engine side. Oil/filter every other ride. OE oil filters.

Air filters: Stock or Twin Air (on the KTM, one and the same). 

Air filter oil: PJ1 spray-on. Have used Bel-Ray, Maxima, and No-Toil in the past. I liked the convenience of washing No-Toil in the sink, but never liked the residue that built up in the airbox and also never really trusted it (although I never had an engine contamination issue).

Chains: DID ERT3, Maxima Chain Wax for lube

Linkage/steering head/swingarm/misc: Maxima waterproof grease 

Harley: Maxima oil kit with filter, engine/primary/trans fluids, and drain plug o-rings.

Cars/trucks: Mobil 1 synthetic oils/WIX or OEM filters.

I don't really have any way to know if it would foam as you'd have to run some very specific tests or have a camera inside of your engine. I know that they use anti foaming agents in some of their oils, I'd have to double check T4/T6 specifically. All oils can foam to a certain extent, but as long as you have oil pressure, that's really what matters. No oil pressure gauge on a dirt bike but I haven't had issues in any of the other vehicles that I run it in.  

When I had my Ram with the Cummins I used that oil. Great stuff but boy does it stink for a bit after an oil change. 

I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed the burnt stinky smelling Rotella. When I’d change it the oil itself looked fine. I just couldn’t get past the burnt smell. It’s probably no big deal, but I didn’t like being able to smell that when I was riding.

I currently use Maxima, but have used T4 in the past with no issues. 

Back in 2010-2015 we had a rash of sportbikes coming in the service department with rods with spun bearings & at least 9 of 10 were running Rotella! So i was at the Indy Dealernews Trade show & mentioned it to Dick (maxima) lechin and He look at me without bashing the oil Said son there is a helluva lot better oil out there! Hell i have (2) diesel powered Tractors a Cat D3 & a Kubota kx040-4 & refuse to run rotella So i run Delo 400! My ZX14 runs on Golden Specto 20w50 as well as My KX450

Motul 7100 20w50 in the summer, and 10w50 in the winter for me. No more than 5 hours between changes, and a new filter every oil change. I've inspected every single used filter (5 changes so far) for metal or debris and I've never seen even a spec of metal in them. Then again, I am the opposite of a rev'er so I am sure that helps. Fresh air filter using Maxima FFT every time out as well.

When KTMs had paper manuals back in 2002 They used to reccomend rotella and shell gasoline…..

Why do you think that info vanished?? 

How many times has Rotella been reformulated since then? I have heard it isn't great diesel engine oil anymore and hasn’t been for years. With people changing oil every hour or two it probably works fine. Try to go 10-15 hours like all the manufacturers say, and I bet you start having issues. 

I don’t like the clutch feel with it so I stopped using it for that reason.
