MURRIETA, Calif. - Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Aaron Plessinger has been ruled out of this weekend's Washougal round of the 2025 Pro Motocross Championship to further address ongoing health issues that have affected him at the RedBud and Spring Creek Nationals in recent weeks.
Plessinger will be sidelined for Round 8 of the season in order to seek further medical advice while prioritizing his health and fitness, before aiming to return to racing onboard his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION for the final three races of the outdoors.

Ian Harrison, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager: "The whole Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team is fully behind Aaron Plessinger, everyone’s favorite Cowboy. Our priority right now is making sure he receives the best medical advice and care possible. Aaron came into RedBud not at 100 percent, but he gave it his all and continued to push through to line up at Millville. Unfortunately, he felt the effects of his illness early on and, despite fighting hard in the first moto, was completely depleted and unable to recover for the second. By sitting out Washougal and heading into the break, it gives him a few weeks to focus on figuring out exactly what’s going on with his health. Most importantly, it allows him time to gain peace of mind and make the best decision on when he’s ready to return to racing."

Plessinger opened his Pro Motocross campaign with two podiums across the opening three rounds, with a season-high result of second overall coming in Round 2 at Hangtown. Illness forced him to withdraw from Moto 2 at RedBud and then, despite attempting to push through, he also was forced out of Millville during Moto 1 when it became clear that he wasn't fully recovered.

With two weekends off between Washougal and Round 9 at Ironman Raceway on August 9th, both Plessinger and the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team will work together to ensure he is in position to regain 100 percent fitness for the final stages of Pro Motocross and the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) post-season. He is currently ranked third in the SMX standings.

Feel like we’re going to see more and more of this with the implementation of SMX. They need to cut a race or two from each SX and MX and give these guys a legit period of rest and recovery. MX, SX, and SMX is too much for these guys, as much as I like watching the races.

He needs a reset.

He has great speed but that has to be tough when your body can't sustain that work effort.

That image from Millville with his head down on the bars after pulling off says it all.

Aldon doesn’t let them eat enough.

With MX being in the middle of the summer, there needs to be a buffer week between each round that falls in July and August, IMO. Give these boys time to recover so they can give us their best effort.

Aldon's slogan should be overworked and underfed. AP needs to eat a steak or burger, or something.

Such a ignorant comment . If it weren't for AP there would not have a team that too 2nd place last year

I wasn't trying to be mean, just pointing out that the same thing happened to him last year.  It's a fair statement and I made no mention that he wasn't a crucial member of the MxDN team.  Just stating my observation, Mr Plessinger.

He’s on record saying that he'd rather make a rider a champion before quick burnout than have that same rider have a longer career with a shorter peak.

Judges ruling…. You are correct. They keep them on such a thin margin. Even RJ said he can finally eat more. That dude is not large, and in direct contrast to AP you have Peter Park training Chase physically and the dude is an animal.

Just sayin

Fully agree. I love racing, but this is ridiculous. Reduce the race count and rework the schedule. While we are at it, let’s rotate in new venues for both SX and MX.

He cooked himself in 24 rounds over then span on 7 months. Even if they took a race or two from each series, he still would be where he is at right now. I think these guys are getting older but are not training as if they are.

As far as the schedule goes, I wonder how many riders would be okay with a pay cut to race a few less times a year? I'd wager next to none.

Smash cut to guillod on pulp talking about his stock bike, the Yamaha tuner app, not having anyone to service his suspension, and how he doesn't ride during the week so he's fresh on the weekends..... 8th overall at Millville.....

Pretty harsh comment for someone who’s always willing to represent their country. I mean, be a bit of a human being, the guy probably has mono or something.  He’s arguably riding the best of his 450 career, I don’t think he just decided to mail it in.

I find it hard to believe that Plessinger did not know on Thursday that he couldn’t do two motos on Saturday. Twice. Hope the best for him, but I would hope that an elite athlete would know his body better than that

Fair enough, I can see that it is harsh, but I didn't mean it as such.  I can now see that the situation is different here.

Glad he is. He would never get over whatever it is by continuing to push.

You have Jett and Hunter eating steak, hot dogs, ice cream, bacon and eggs and gasp! bread. There needs to be more balance. AP looks really skinny this year. 10 more pounds would not hurt him.

Seriously. Mx riders burn insane smounts of calories. No need for these guys to eat like birds.

Cut some sx races. They already took away an mx race

Have a cousin that used to race bicycles professionally, one of the things he struggled with was getting enough calories in. He felt like he was eating all the time and hated it. I get that this doesn't directly translate to mx, but there's very few guys out on the track that need to be limiting calories and AP isn't one of them.

Take a slight pay cut to extend your career and dramatically improve QOL. Many people do that in regular jobs, what makes you think this situation is any different?
