He was sooooo happy to see her.

And likewise her seeing him.

They close to the public at noon.

But some staff is there 24/7.

So they let her spend most of the day with him.

His two main caregivers stopped by to spend time with, and talk with her.

This is tough on her.

And tough on me seeing both her and him.

I got faith, brother.

Looks like Sailor found some fermented figs. I haven't been paying much attention to the figs yet, but I guess they've been ripening.

He was hammered when he came in. Guess he's trying the 1 foot on the floor technique.

Fermented Figs?

So, is he 'inebriated', or, feeling crook?

The brindle pup is Odin - according to Embark dna testing, he’s a mix of Rottie, Pitbull, boxer, Doberman and American Bulldog. He looks and sounds tough but he’s a sweet, affectionate boy.

The white pup is Gayle - a Lab mix. She will chase a ball until your arm falls off from throwing it. She’s very high energy, much more skittish than Odin, and sheds.  She’s a pain in the ass sometimes but she’s so damn cute and lovable she can get away with it.

Both are rescues - as are most of my previous dogs. These two absolutely love each other. I’ve had pairs of dogs before where you’ve got to watch them at mealtime or if play gets too rough to prevent or break up a fight. Definitely not with these two.

Definitely inebriated.

Figs are loaded with sugar and will ferment quickly depending on what wild yeast is present, and apparently there's plenty around here.

I have a small fence around the tree, but it's grown well over it, so now it's party time. We had a bunch of wind a few days ago and I guess that knocked a bunch of figs off.

We had an Aussie that loved psychedelic mushrooms, she would come home and just sit in her water bowl and trip her ass off.  We took a stool sample to the vet for tests and they verified that's what it was.

We've a tree - buggered if I can recall what it is - in our little Jungle of a garden, that, at the right time of the year, it's fruit / flowers, the bloody Cockatoos swarm and they get so pissed on, that I have bunches of them sprawled across our garden, on the roof (and rolling off it) and they carry on  like  mad bastards. I and my neighbors, have to rescue them off the road as well, but, unfortunately, we sometimes don't get to the silly buggers, before they are squished by cars coming around the corner.

They're a bunch of Ratbags, but, we love 'em.

We also have Flying Foxes getting in on the act, at times, as well. Cripes, some of those, are bloody Huge!

And then, we've our Tribe(s) of Brushtail and Ringtail Possums,  rooting and fighting in the trees, and haring back and forth along our roof. Too often lately, I've been finding dead ones in the yard - I'm not sure if they are killing each other, or if it's the Bastard Cats doing them in.

I don’t spend much time over here in the trenches in non-moto so I haven’t caught this thread until now. I’ve enjoyed scrolling through and seeing everyone’s pups.

We have a 7 year-old female Golden (Aspen) and picked her up a little brother late last year (Oakley) who is 10 months old currently. Don’t know what my wife or I would do without these pups. They travel everywhere with us.

We just put Enzo down, he was 16, a whippet.  Since I’ve moved out he’s been my parents friend/baby/homie etc. sad day but man he had it made in his 16 years.

Sorry to read this.

We are facing a real challenge ourselves with one of ours right now.

Penny, the blue in front, and Eli, red merle, in their natural habitat. She two y.o., he 3.5 mo., looks like he's gonna be a big one. Big, thick-boned fella.

Spent a couple of days visiting Ollie.

So good to see he's still a very happy boy.

Jenn's been visiting every other day.

He's been showing a bit of movement in his right leg while in the therapy pool.

And is able to wag his tail a little bit.

IMG 20250705 102218.jpg?VersionId=0ZDpk6HT p9O 4hy 3dBJ7yGenOcRIMG 20250704 113304

Jenn and the therapist are still very optimistic.

I still am as well, but can't help feelings of reality setting in.

No matter the outcome, ensuring he has a happy life is always going to be priority.

The two therapist that deal with him have fallen hard for him.

You can see it in him too.

Definitely a happy, high energy animal.

They have him going through one helluva cool "husky talk" routine.

And they have a cart for him to get around in, and he's following along as they work with other animals.

It's unbearably quiet at our cabin without him.

Ollie has definite movement of his tail.

Has been having movement in his right leg while in the therapy pool.

And now slight movement of his left leg while in the pool.

1752528752187

She's been going to see him almost every day now, spending at least 2-3hrs each visit.

And he's been fitted for a wheel cart. Which he doesn't walk in, he RUNS everywhere when he's in it.

They say the fact that he's such a happy, and active dog is a huge plus.

Been 5wks since his stroke.

They told us that within 6wks we'd either see signs of improvement, or...

Thankfully we're seeing that improvement.

Still a long road ahead.

🤞

It is indeed great news.

He probably will never be as quick and nimble, or regain the endurance he had.

But if he can just wander around, and steal my spot on the couch next to her,

That'll be good enough for me.
