I wonder if BT will be going back to the GP's?
Seriously guys, all joking aside, Townley is a badass.....so is Short. Racing for your country is huge and I would expect some hard contact at a des nations race no matter what country i'm riding for and whatever place i'm in.
He didn't need to do that to get by. I am still a fan, but if U.S.A. didn't win, might be a different story!
He definately didn't do his team boss, Troy Lee, any favors by taking out an American rider.
That's racin'!

Why don't you put down that big frosty mug of Hate America First brew you are always drinking from for one day. Don't worry, it'll be there tomorrow for you to pick right back up where you left off.
ride SX and always was hurt on Factory Honda, so time to go............BYE!
NIce pass Ben!
In all seriousness, I disagree that Townley did "exactly" what he needed to do. I think the way things looked he almost certainly would have passed Short within a few more corners and it was early in the race.
There were a lot of passes made and I saw none that were at that level of harshness, although I certainly didn't see them all. Even the European and Amercian announcers were calling it a take out and were even commenting on it in the third moto.
I would bet that if Townley could do it over, he would do it a little differently. I've never seen him to be a consistently dirty rider, even when he and Villopto were having their battle royale in 2007 for the 250f championship.
