Whisper'n Smith from Oklahoma finished 33rd in the 1st moto at Thunder Valley. Big deal except the man is 57 years old! I'm suprised this wasn't talked about during the broadcast. His bio on Racer X results shows he finished 19th in the 1991 Daytona SX and 18th in Houston in the same year. Is he the oldest to qualify for a race?

It was brought up and discussed in the practice thread, and someone said that it is Whisper'n Smith Junior aka his son.

A 57 year old man qualified, raced, and finished a Pro moto national race?

Holy shit. That guy is gnarly. Vet riders unite!

This didn't happen.... The son and dad have the same name. It was a mistake somewhere. JR. got 33rd. not dad.

I don't know how much Whispern senior even rides anymore. Last time I saw him he was just watching junior.

He came to the UK to race the opening round of the British Championship, in MX2 and failed to qualify.

It’s NOT senior Whispern Smith… he is a retired firefighter these days. This is an old article regarding his SON Whispern Smith from when he was on 85’s that got posted on Saturday by another of us Okla guys…

IMG 0719 1

Whispern JUNIOR is following in his Dad’s footsteps and has progressed into a fast pro pursing his moto dream!

😎 👍❗️

Salt of the earth people, I’m a massive fan of theirs. Pumped Jr made it into his first pro national, and in the 450 class to boot… on an antique bike. What a badass.

That was my boy that qualified at Thunder Valley last Saturday. It was his pro debut and to go qualify at his first national in the 450 class was great! I wish I could ride that good now. I'm just an old man that takes his kid to races to have a lot of fun with his son. He got a lot of nerves out the other day and should hopefully be able to do a little better next time. He did go 33/37 with a fall down each moto, but that was ok with me. Was stoked with how the day went. We'll see everyone at Redbud,

Great to see him make the cut , i know you guys struggled at Hawkstone, but was nice to meet you there, i am the Comms guy for the livestream , and i will see if i can get the LQC uploaded for you to see somewhere, be nice to have that .

I did it the other way , AMA Supermoto back in 2003 and made the main by 1 after someone bailed on the last lap. Nothing beat travelling and racing just for the fun of it.
