Great news,
Just received a press release from YS:

FERMO (ITALY), 11 September 2010 – A meeting in between Youthstream President Giuseppe Luongo, FIM/CMS President Dr. Wolfgang Srb, FIM Sports Director Ignacio Verneda, FMI President Paolo Sesti, FMI Marketing Director Alfredo Mastropasqua, FMI Secretary General Alberto Rinaldelli, KTM Motorsport Consultant Winfried Kerschhaggl, KTM Off Road Motorsports Director Pit Beirer, Yamaha Europe Representative Michele Rinaldi ended with the FMI’s decision of lining up Antonio Cairoli and David Philippaerts at the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations with Alessandro Lupino completing the Team.

The Italian Motorcycling Federation (FMI) had chosen the team’s line up and the “Maglia Azzurra” jersey layout following the principles of the FIM Regulations and of the CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) regulations, and considering the fact that it is the Federation choosing the riders participating in the event.

Yesterday’s Motocross Grand Prix commission meeting laid the base for a future regulation ruling the Motocross of Nations jersey layout which includes the following points:

-the upper half of the jersey will feature the Federations’ logos

-the lower half of the jersey will feature the Teams’ and Riders’ logos

-the sleeves will feature the Teams’ and Riders’ logos

-the back will feature the Riders’ name and number

-the jersey colour will be decided by the Federation

Taking into account also this future rule as well as KTM’s and Yamaha Europe’s cooperation into the Youth Program of the FMI, the latter could finally confirm that Tony Cairoli and David Philippaerts will race the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations at Denver, USA, on the September 26 weekend with MX2’s Alessandro Lupino completing the team. The decision was very much welcomed by all parties involved in the meeting as the FMI would like to extend their gratitude to the riders who had been previously called up, Manuel Monni and Davide Guarneri, who will be part of the Maglia Azzurra group heading to Denver in two weeks time.

If it is truly works out(?), this is GREAT NEWS for us selfish-type fans who are going be there, anyway!!

ps- Thanks, Bureaucratic azzholes for delaying this long with what should have been a non-issue.

Awesome, makes it a little tougher again on the Aussie's , but it is great to see the GPs best line up against the best of the AMA and with 2 thirds of the Aus team coming from the our national series Australias best Smile .

This news has made the MXoN even better again.

Awesome!
Could be a podium threat if Lupino gets one good moto. If it wasent for the stupid 23 years rule it would be a three way battle for the win.

As i said in the other thread. Brilliant.

Even though there was going to be some of the best riders in the world race anyway. It seemed abit tarnished with out Philli and Cairoli. Can't wait for it now.

I thought the teams had to be submitted 30 days in advance. That was the reason they couldn't pick js7.

Since then, I heard it was seven days, for the finalization of teams.

Also, since then, I have had my hopes up the Italians would resolve these issues.

Maybe that's just Roger's Rule.
I'm guessing he's a little disappointed at trying to preserve the exposure for Suzuki's star rider only to sever ties a few short weeks later.

I wondered, a couple of weeks ago, when you announced you had canceled everything!

You should have given those gangsters a bit more time to sort things out.

Sorry, we will miss meeting you!

Awesome news. The race lost a lot of it's luster for me when I heard Cairoli wasn't gonna be there. Not that anyone cares how I feel, haha.

Very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now i'm excited to go. There's just something about being there and seeing are national champ whoooooop the shit out of the world champ that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Cairoli is going to get beat down by RD imo.

If he doesn't it will still be awesome to watch either way. Cairoli not being there really made my trip seem less worth while.

Uh Oh....This is good stuff- Home soil and physical conditioning playing a role...Cairoli may just be battling with Canard and CP the whole time-

Am I the only one who knew the Italian Federation would cave last minute like most political hard asess do? You've got the 08 and 09/10 MX1 World Champions on your team, a passionate Italian fan base and media, you're spending money flying half way around with a B team and have now given yourself absolutely no shot at a podium on paper anyway. Yes, they were going to let that happen. Clearer heads prevailed like they usually do when a big mistake is looming. The manufacturers just showed their muscle.

They were just playing a game of chicken in the end. The manufacturers had the Italian Federation to put all the blame on. They just had to sit back and wait for the Federation to cave in which was almost a given with the two riders who were in question.

Pretty sure Luongo got them back talking together again. He just can not afford to have a MXdN without those two world class riders.
That would be a big embaresment for Youthstream.

That's kind of what I figured. Luongo puts pride in to promoting this race every year. He needs those two boys in Colorado.
