For me it was summer of 72. Brad Lackey had just switched from CZ to Kawi. He raced Indian Dunes, Shawdow Glen course in the 500 class. The Kawi was brand new, black tank and a rough finish. No fancy green paint job or leather and jersey combo. In fact I think he had on Hallman leathers and his signature rugby shirt...lots of names there that day - Lamppu, Runyard, Holcomb, Thowarldson

I remember that Krispy Kreme donut place on Colonial Drive, on the way to Orlando sports stadium, we would stop there on the way(My Dad loved them), the first Factory bikes i seen was probably at the Fla winter series in St .Pete ,Fla in 75 or 76, or it could have been at the 500 MX nats at the same track, always loved the way the Team Hondas looked, they were so trick, me and Joe Cartier were huge Marty Smith fans.

Yea, that`s it. Awesome picture. Mr. Johnnson saw my bike ( 72 Yamaha Enduro with Koni`s, a Bassani pipe and, 21" front wheel) in the back of my truck and started the conversation. Hell of a nice guy.

Not sure the year but it was before the Trans-Am started (late 60's) Torsten Hallman was at Ascot Park TT race and did an exhibition along with Eddie Mulder and some other TT guys on Husky's. LOL the 21" front wheels and knobbies weren't the hot set up but they were interesting.

Burnt Hickory near Dallas Georgia in 1977. I saw Bob Hannah beat Marty Smith in the 500 cc class. In the opening moto Hannah fell in first turn and broke clutch lever off bike. rode the hole race without clutch, caught and passed Smith for first and won going away. Second moto was a cake walk for Hannah. I think his mechanic, Keith McCarty, taped the broken clutch lever to his handlebars or used wire cutters to cut the clutch cable and remove the broken lever.

At Ladies Mile Portsmouth, hampshire for 1974 British 250cc Grand Prix.
Seeing the works Yamaha of Hakan Andersson, kawasaki's Thorleif Hansen and Jim Pomeroy on his factory Bultaco will be forever etched in my memory banks.
I was a Montesa rider at the time and Kalvie Vehkonnen's works bike was also lusted after!
