Exactly!

Try Cahuilla Creek and Glen Helen while you’re here.

I been to Glen Helen a few times, we tried Cahuilla  but it was closed due to wind & cold I think….I enjoyed Vet track at Fox/Pala also…. Been meaning to drive across country and spend most of winter out west vs Florida one of these years…..If daughter gets a job out there, that will just seal the deal for me….. I”m winding down at 58 years old, so mostly Vet tracks these days….

Dude, you’re fighting for your life here with these comments. Just take the L and move on. It’s embarrassing. Go outside.

It really is funny to watch the gaslighting non-CA residents will do to themselves to convince themselves California is a dump.

Wanna know why it is so expensive here? Plain and simple, supply and demand. If you polled every non-CA, US resident, about where they would want to live if money wasn't an issue, I bet you over 50% would say they would love to live near the beaches of socal.

To the dudes complaining about california, just admit that you cannot make it happen out here, and that's okay, but don't try to soap box yell about it being an awful place when it clearly is not. My daughter is interviewing for a financial job based out  of San Diego…. I hope she gets it, so I can have a reason to spend next winter helping her get situated….probably do some riding too👍 Each and everyone of the states in the good old USA have something unique and special about them….thats what makes the USA great…. Been to California a few times, always enjoyed myself….far as tracks goes… I just thought everyone Bro”s down at Glen Helen every weekend😂

Exactly!

I second the cahuilla creek one and who doesn't won't to try glen Helen. I flew my grandson out a couple years ago and from a guy here on vital I rented some bikes. He meet us at cahuilla one day and then perris the next day. We wanted to ride glen Helen so bad but the days times didn't work out for us. We thoroughly enjoyed it though. It was my grandsons first ride on a big bike.

I've spent more time in the northern and central part of Cali working and while it's okay to visit it's not my cup of tea. Beautiful place and things to see. I just like home. There's nothing wrong with either. Both have good and bad stuff.

But as far as other stuff, (besides gas and rent) it's about the same price as back home in Alabama. So I've learn that all the sayings that shit is too high, it's only the gas and living arrangement.  Almost all the other shits the same price. Soft drinks are actually cheaper here even after adding the plastic fees!!

It's sad for the working man/woman though. I have some great coworkers here in Santa cruz and one of them told me that he and his wife, both are rn's as well and he said "we make over a quarter million dollars a year and we can't qualify to buy a house here". Not sure if it's true but that's what he said. That's good money almost anywhere else. It's probably why the homelessness is so bad here if true.

I have no reason to doubt him but I don't know.

My buddy owns bicycle shops in OC and does high-end rentals and tours for MTB and Road cycling, he would pay me to take people on tours. All of these folks were wealthy and came from all over the world, and had ridden all over the world. I can’t tell how many people said it was the best place they’ve ever cycled, and how much they would like to live there. One client actually ended up buying a home and becoming an investor in my friends businesses.

Hard to beat rides on epic trails with a view like this. Right from my front door.

We need to hang out. We need to take a friend of ours to Top of the World and jus’…yup, hang out and be dudes.

I’m working on a “new” ankle and I’ll be up for some of the funnier-easier stuff soon. Then, maybe lunch at Urth, #3 or S. Nicks…

When are you out here again?

Sounds good to me, sir.

I’ll be there May 14th - 26th, have a RV spot reserved at Doheny. Decided to leave the dirt bikes at home this trip and focus on bicycles and a little bit of relaxing.

I will definitely be reaching out! Drinks on me.

I lived there for a long time, and did very well. Took that knowledge and put SoCal in the rear view mirror and padded the bank account. Make more now with less expenses. There’s good people there, but the degenerates, dead beats and back stabbers not so much. I rarely go back to SoCal and don’t miss it.

Pretty sure he's talking about the bbq rig at Barona in the pits.

Nothing better than the huge oak trees at Barona that grow all thru the pits also, very cool track and facility.... no awning required.

Not sure what crap you are talking about that I have to put up with.  I have a 15 minute commute to work any way I take, 1 hr to 1 and a half to most mx  tracks, 5 mins to Laguna Beach, 10 to 15 to Dana Point/Doheny Beach, 25/30 ish to San Clemente,  can MTB right out my door to several different  trails systems and dare I say snowboard 1.5 hours away in Wrightwood.  Life is pretty crap free for me most of the time. Doing pretty dang good all things considered.

Sitting under the Oak trees at Barona is just like when I was growing up sitting under the oak trees at Goodtimes Raceway south of SanAntonio, just less humid at Barona.

And the BBQ at the liquor store in Ramona that everybody drives past on the way to the track is just like BBQ I ate in TX. Except without good sweet tea, but the Ramona BBQ might be better than TX BBQ.
If you haven’t been to both then you have no idea. Gota take my word for it.

Ah yea, good ol' Ramona. Dood, I grew up five blocks down and two blocks over from that intersection where Pete's BBQ is located. I remember when they installed that stoplight that you can see in the image; it was the first one in town. I need to go back and skulk around for a while.

We love Simi Valley Jan, Feb, March and Aprilwe live in the Midwest ,but I got tired of completely shutting my life down for winter...I've grown to hate winter after 20 years of snow removal service.....So I basically stay inside and wait for spring....what a waste of life for me as an active dude.  My wife is from Simi and we love going there and riding my mountain bike from my front door to the Simi Hills.......We have  a house there and I plan to hang out in California in the winter months.....I can't imagine running out of things to do......I'm born and raised in NE so this is my home.....but I'm looking forward to California as a snow bird i guess. I wouldn't want to live there  full time but  love to visit......Met a lot of great people out there also......I was always told if I was to visit California, not to look anyone in the eyes, and talk to no one......I can tell you that's total bullshit.....lots of friendly's out there that I've experienced....I'm looking forward to hanging out in the winter months......

For as liberal as California is, it's surprising that open practice is such a free for all.  In ohio most tracks are super structured.  To the point where is it takes some of the fun out of it.  Generally they run 15 minute sessions once an hr so when it's your turn to go out it's lining up for a race of death.  Dudes are rested and ready to bang bars.   I actually seek out tracks that just run open track all day so you can ride some motos and do your own thing. ... but they don't allow anything smaller than an 85 with big bikes ever, which is how it should be.

1. Only Los Angeles and San Francisco Metro areas are considered "Liberal".  Most of the 40 MILLION residents are moderate or conservative.  stop believing the bullshit spewing from Fox News and instagram.

2.  Most riders here are experienced enough to know how to conduct themselves around slower bikes and riders.

Yes there are a few incidents here and there, but overall the quality and skill level of track riders in this state is very good for the huge amount of dirt bikes that show up at the track on any given day.

The state doesn't control the tracks, the track owners make their own rules. Has nothing to do with being liberal or not.

Spoken like someone who most likely listens to big media and has most likely never lived in California.  Maybe visited for vacation but never lived in state.  The problems are in the population centers.  Which hold pretty much all of the population. 85% of the state is the opposite of what you think.

I was with you completely, except for the “85%” part. We keep electing the worst politicians possible..

But you’re totally right about how most of the state isn’t what people picture. I live in a great little town, we ride right out of the garage, great desert riding in our backyard. It’s way more rural than most people think of California. The cops usually just wave at you as long as you ride respectfully on the street, but if you’re a jerk, they’ll catch up to you sooner or later.

The populated areas LA, SF, SD and Sacramento control the state. Your Governor Newsom is related to Nancy Pelosi, what do think is going to happen. COVID money bailed out California, you were in the black. Newsom spent it all plus a lot more. Now  he’s got a deficit of almost $70 billion. Yeah. the California dream keeps on giving.

Born and Raised in California. I've lived all over this state. From Nor Cal to Orange County. Die hard Californians will defend this place to their death. Yes it is unique in the fact you can literally do anything you want. The beaches used to be enjoyable, now not so much. Overcrowding, and the water near Santa Monica is filthy. Imperial beach has sewage in it from Mexico. Sure, you learn the places to avoid so you can stay in your bubble. That way you can say it's not that bad.  Homelessness is a problem everywhere, its the worst in California. How about streets lined with tweaker tents? Enjoy finding needles on the ground? How about people shitting on the sidewalk? How about having sex on the sidewalk? Shooting up drugs as they push their shopping cart around. Luckily, Newsom did one good thing and vetoed the safe injection sites that were proposed. Have to imagine they will try again. Let's not forget the soft on crime approach. Thieving is a problem in California. Taxes,  California tax rate on 100K earners is nearly 10% and they will tax your retirement at the same rates. The state is going downhill and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. If you can ignore all the problems, its a great place to make money, eat good food and enjoy the outdoors.

So, Prado already pulled the plug on Socal and heading to FL for the summer to test because of the shit show and lack of tracks? Can't blame him I guess. Will the tracks out here be less crowded with pros this summer?

I wonder what Kawasaki has done to help local tracks?
