Triumph is the only team where there is someone who he recently worked with on the Yam. Seems like a really good piece of the puzzle.

I hope that Ducati is as serious about MX/SX as they are in MotoGP, that would be awesome and shake up the sport.

Hmmmmm…🤔

To do the same thing in SMX…they’d have to hire a coupl’a REALLY fast brothers that had previously raced for Honda.

You got any ideas?

I thought Jett recently signed longish extension but I might be making that up?

I think Webb loved the old frame for Supercross, but he definitely wasn't a fan of the frame from '22 on.

Weege said Jett signed a long-term deal with Honda, but it hasn't been announced yet.

Keefer just said something to the effect that Coop thought his ‘21 was possibly his best bike ever.

IF the Ducati thing is true, I for one wouldn’t be surprised.
I mean Tomac has nothing left to prove at this point in his career, so helping develop a marquee brand and delivering its first ever results in the US probably looks like a pretty attractive deal, both financially and on a personal level.
It’s not like it’s a total unknown either, seems to be a couple of fellas in Europe looking alright on it.

As race fans, we think of this question as whether the riders race results justify their salary.  The question to a brand has to be 'does this rider on our bike, with the expected results they will achieve, increase our sales relative to what the rider cost'.  Yeah, I think Tomac sells more bikes than Webb..

You know what strikes me as odd.  I have never once in my life ever purchased a bike based on what pro rider was riding what bike at the time.  Never ever crosses my mind.  I have many times purchased products of sponsors who were sponsoring specific riders and still do to this day.  I have no explanation why that is.

My opinion only but I don’t think the connection between winning and selling is what it used to be.

I think there is value in brand association from a rider’s younger years that is more likely to carry through.

I also believe the connection with racing is much more about the fact that the OEMs are out there competing vs actual results.  I mean these are race bikes and it’s case of having to do it because your competitors are doing it.

None of the people I know who ride could ID any rider in the top twenty in SX and they spend shit tons on new bikes, gear, and parts. They realize the pro SX sport is totally unrelated to any sort of riding they do, they really haven't enjoyed watching it in years, and there is no translating it for them.

Call me crazy but Eli has far more ROI than either  Deegan or Cooper. He’s faster and far more proven than either of them, he has more titles than both them combined. Don’t get me wrong, Cooper is damn good close in sx but I’d still give the nod to Eli and he’s not even in the same league outdoors. No doubt deegs will shred the 450 but imo Eli beats him next 2 years easy. He also far more popular than Cooper and although he has less social media that Deegan, he’s universally liked. I doubt there’s a single person that says they hate Eli or would choose to not buy a product he endorses but that cannot be said for Deegan. IMO star is making an extremely stupid move if they choose those two over Eli.

The noise of the crowd whenever Eli took the lead in any race this year be heard above whatever else was going on on the broadcast. Who else beat Jett straight up this year so far?

I believe you would be on-point if it wasn’t for the major financial uncertainty of Pierer Mobility AG right now. Production lines in Austria were recently shut down again as parts suppliers were also shut down previously and some closed down.
John and Eli wouldn’t accept the risk of potential future R & D delays in my opinion.

Yes. According to my sources, the internet, Jett signed a 5 year deal for $265 million

This may also be the reason that Chase might not be on the KTM next year.  The uncertainty could be unsettling for both…

Tomac/Ducati could be mega. Maybe he's ridden the production bike and was surprisingly happy with the base package and believes in its potential? Presuming he brings Monster across?

It’s likely Red Bull would be tied in with TLD Ducati - Troy has a strong relationship with them, which would make bringing monster no bueno.

Well, if you want KTM to go 100% belly up, put Eli on the orange pile of crap. He'll smoke that hydro clutch into oblivion and probably finish 50% of the races he enters due to suspension issues and mech failure. That will be the nail in the coffin of KTM.

Have you seen Barcia ride?

I find that hard to believe since the bike has been stickered with the green claw from day 1.

It’s been all but confirmed by ML512 in this video (@ 7:20ish).

He doesn't abuse the clutch like Eli. Actually, if Ducati wants to sniff out any weak points with their bike Eli would be the perfect guy to hire. If it will hold up with Eli pounding it for two 35 minute motos at Southwick it will hold up under anybody.
